Actually, Big Smoke was supposed to be the only one who betrayed GSF, Ryder wasn't meant to betray CJ because he was too loyal to be a traitor unlike Smoke who was changing the subject about C.R.A.S.H and distracting CJ with some errands so that CJ doesn't suspect Smoke and find out about his betrayal, in the script Ryder wasn't meant to be a traitor

I remember how my brother went through it 6 times and I watched and when he invited a dude to join his gang , I took the joystick from a toy helicopter and made the same movements as him , we laughed .But my brother showed the whole plot of this game and it was not let go .

I like how well written this game is. You've spent a lot of time with Smoke and Ryder and learned to like them in their own ways. So when this scene comes, you can feel CJ's betrayal.
