This guy is awesome. Awesome musically, awesome in his approach to the absurdity of interviews, awesome in his attitude to playing music as a lifestyle, awesome in his desire to gig all the time, and awesome for how he views the community of musicians around him. I dig his vibe and attitudes. Super cool.
It’s difficult to put into words how much this session meant to me in 2015. I remember ripping the audio and walking around my hometown in summer 2015 lost in myself while trying to hold everything together. Love the extended versions of Sullen Mind and Funny Thing She Said.
JOHN MARTYN ... NICK DRAKE .... BERT JANSCH ...all major influences on Ryley ...as is TIM BUCKLEY. Talented lad for sure ...stands out from the tsunami of so called singer/songwriters .
Super talent bro. Your sound is unique and you have something that is your own. Wow. It's been awhile since I've heard something that grabbed me like this. Keep playing.
Absolutely fantastic stuff love it so much!. Looking forward to seeing you at Hebdon Bridge Trades club on Wednesday, not been there since I was 16 which was 27 years ago and I saw the late great Bert Jansch who I met in the dressing room and sat with him while he taught me to play Black Waterside :)
His wonderfully awkward personality reminds me so much of my friend Austin. Just one of those eccentrics who says the most random leftfield stuff that has this kind of next-level genius about it.
His music really seems like it's from a different time... but still from now. I stumbled into Riley Walker somehow, and I'm so glad I did. (The bass is perfect too!)
