I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ru-vid.comUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

A good and fair reveiw. I have it for 2 years now. One reason I've choosen the brand is the 12v charger (optionnal) that allow me to recharge easily with a 100w flexible solar pannel when I'm off grid (the panel is glued on top of the car)

Good review. I just bought one and im very happy with it! Uses it to clean up fallen trees over trails in the woods and it does the job. Ofc its not as good as a fuel one but this is much easier to carry and starts directly and no need to mess around with gasoline etc :)

Great review of the chainsaw. I’ve had one of these four the past 3-4 years, its never mist a beat. I’ve other Ryobi tools and have 3 4 amp hour batteries, usually use 2 of them to cut enough firewood for a few days, agree you need to have a sharp chain reduce the power draw the batteries.

They do make plenty of chainsaws that are comparable to small gas saws including some of the Ryobi 40V saws. I've had the one in your video for over three years now and I use it at least a few times a year for storm cleanup. The 9Ah battery would be a nice addition, and you definitely need to sharpen your chain plus maybe file the rakers (depth gauges), or just replace the chain altogether.
@GetCampingOz
@GetCampingOz 2 года назад
Yeh I’d definitely like to try the higher voltage chainsaws and compare them.

Good review and I'm going to buy one. Do you drain the oil when you're not using it, because I've never seen a chainsaw that doesn't leak oil. I have a Stihl petrol chainsaw that leaks oil and it's annoying. Thank you.
@GetCampingOz

Hi Derek, yes best to drain the oil when your not using it. Like most chain saws it will slowly drip if left for more than a few days of not using. Cheers

Only problem I've found is that the chain has loosened after a couple of months and can't be completely tightened any more. I've had it sharpened once only. It seems that there's not enough range in the tightening mechanism after the chain stretches. It's still usable but not as tight as it should be unless I replace the chain. Only downside I've found, really. The tightening mechanism is a bit plasticky but it was not too expensive. Remains to be seen if replacement parts are available if those parts crack.
@GetCampingOz

Thanks for the comment. There is two points for adjust. One is the slide on the bar - this is the main nut/tension that keeps the bar in place. The other is a screw that allows for finer adjustments. If you back the nut off you should be able to adjust the bar accordingly. Hope that helps 👍🏻
@kle2217
@kle2217 2 года назад
Does the bar oil leak? Do you need to empty the oil when storing and not in use? I take it you don't need to pump the oil the way you do with the brushed 10" version? thx

The larger log you cut is more than recommended and it did it fine even though your chain needed a touch up so that says to me it does well. Fasted thing I have ever heard in a youtube video "I start my chainsaw and the kids come running" lmfao you may want to educate your children about what chainsaws do to flesh. Sit them down and watch Texas chainsaw massacre that outa do it lol. Thanks for sharing mate.

I have this chainsaw and have used it a lot for cutting wood for the woodburner. I bought some third party batteries that work excellently with the saw and the ryobi charger - I bought 2 Vanon 5.5AH batteries for a third of the price of 1 ryobi equivalent ie the ryobi batteries are about 6X over priced.

I got one from Bunnings last week and used it for the first time over the weekend.....and the chain slack tension is fully wound out already - the chain "stretched" to max in just under 1 hour. Is this normal or is it just a cheap chain bundled with the chainsaw?

To bad they discontinued this saw. I love mine so much that after a few years I upgraded to a 14 " bar and chain. It has enough power. My only concern is that it puts out too much oil and looks like it is leaking but it's only dripping excess. I found out that if you let it sit for awhile before putting it away it will stop.
