Bought one a couple weeks ago for $69. Price went down to $49 at HD so I went in and they refunded the full price and charged me the new $49 price. Great customer service. Using this to cut out hinges and lock faceplates on some slab doors.

I just recently bought one. Basically to do round overs and flush trim laminate. For them two task it’s perfect, however I recommend a 3-4ah battery a 1.5ah will get you started on a job and leave you stranded.

Pretty good review. There is no difference in power from a 4 ah to 6 ah. The 6 ah battery just gives you a longer use time of a tool. The flush trim bit is not made to power through a large cut. Enjoyed the video. Work safe.
@MarkThomasBuilder

Thanks, that makes sense. I understand I should use the router in layers when tackling something thick.
@grimlightwildoutdoors

The bigger the battery the more the tool can pull power wise to keep motor at its peak performance so the bigger batteries do make a big difference when power or torque is needed example with impact driver you can power in much longer screws with the bigger batteries and power is there for the motor to pull from smaller batteries choke on bigger screws. This principle applies to all cordless power tools.

The amperage of your battery does not determine discharge rate so going to a higher ambridge battery does not guarantee you're going to get more power to the motor in the tool. It would have to be a higher C rates discharge and even then, a lower amp battery can be manufactured accordingly. LOVE the hockey stick picture frame! Totally stealing that idea.
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 3 года назад
Thanks for that advice. Hockey sticks work great as long as they don't have a fiberglass coating. That doesn't work well with the router.

It doesn’t power up with a larger battery as the current flow remains the same, only larger amp battery lasts longer. Large battery doesn’t give more power to the tools compared to smaller batteries

The manual says, "NOTE: To set the cutting depth to zero, hold the router in place and turn the micro depth adjustment knob until it reads '0'." What does that mean? Won't the depth change when you turn the knob?

A flush cut bit the clue is in its name, you use them the remove as little material as possible not remove 2 inches of material you leave a few millimetres on an edge the use flush cut to clean the edge up flush. If you want to cut away a lot of material first use a rebate or a spiral bit that cuts on the down spin which are awesome for material cutting. Also cut a few millimetres cut depth at a time this will keep your bits sharp, look after your router motor and not risk snapping your bits or bit blades.spiral bits you can cut deeper with as made to do this but think about the above. You used the flush bit wrongly in your video.

Hello. This is one of the best explanation video about Ryobi router. Thank you so much for your work. Could you please give me an advice? I bought this router and chamfer bit ( 45* angle 1\2 and 1\4 shank), but the bit can't go through the hole of a plastic square subbase when I try to pull removable base up. Should I buy another one with a different size (45* angle 1\4 and 1\4 shank)? I am looking forward for your respond. Thanks
@MarkThomasBuilder
@MarkThomasBuilder 3 года назад
I'll have to look into this and let you know for sure. My first reaction is that it only works with 1/4 shanks. I'm almost certain of that.
@adilyamabdrakhmanova8268
@adilyamabdrakhmanova8268 3 года назад
@@MarkThomasBuilder Thank you for your quick response. What I meant is that the 1/4 shank works perfectly with the router , the problem is with the length of the chamfer bit, it's too big and can't go through. Which chamfer bit do you use with the 45 degrees angle?
@patrickcroft2906
@patrickcroft2906 3 года назад
Hello...Check the Manual on this. It states that you should NOT use a bit larger than the hole. I know of someone that injured their finger by using a 45 degree bit that was larger than the hole. With the router on, his finger drifted into the open widow of the base and clipped his finger tip. He was lucky it wasn’t worse. Hope this helps.
