Good review, just bought mine yesterday at Home Depot to replace my 10 year old Black and Decker corded hedge trimmer. One thing I noticed that may be of interest to others: You said you have a 2.6AH but mine came with a 2.0AH battery weighing only 1 lb 13.3 ounces while I believe your 2.6 AH battery weighs 2 lb 8 ounces. I think Ryobi may have used the same housing and just reduced the number of cells inside, for cost reduction. But I wouldn't the heavier battery because I was tired after an hour of steady work before the battery died. It took a little over one hour to recharge. By that time I was ready to go back to work! For me, this battery is just perfect and I'm very happy with the tool. No more getting tangled up in my 100ft power cord or cutting it accidentally.

Hello my friend. Ryobi is generally a good brand. This hedge trimmer is also a quality product. Because my friend is using it. Thank you for the usage and detailed information. See you. Great greetings.
Often, when trimming hedges, if I hit a limb which is about the size of my little finger, it would jam my trimmer. I would wait a few minutes and it would work again. This last time, it won’t restart. It only clicks. Very disappointing as I loved the convenience and it worked good, when it worked.
“First you must find... another shrubbery! Then, when you have found the shrubbery, you must place it here, beside this shrubbery, only slightly higher so you get a two layer effect with a little path running down the middle. ("A path! A path!") Then, you must cut down the mightiest tree in the forrest... with... a herring!”
Thanks for the review! I have the string trimmer and it works great. I'm looking for a hedge trimmer and after seeing your review I'm going to go with this hedge trimmer. 👍
Thank you for the review! I just bought this product yesterday. I am disappointed that the battery for the trimmer is not compatible with my string trimmer or blower. They are both older models. Thanks again for you review. It was very helpful!
I recently bought one of these. The battery it comes with is a smaller battery than the battery I have with line trimmer. One battery is 2 ah the other is 4 ah
I have a non-brushless from 2014 that is still going strong. Only reason I know is that I write the date everything went in service with a Sharpie on the battery compartment. But HD extended warranty is still worth it on this stuff. They usually just replace it.
After watching your video I went out and purchased one. For residential use. I was pretty impressed with it. I also like to get to know everything about what I purchase and the one thing I have not been able to find out... does this trimmer have a brush-less motor? I have found a lack of information about that. So does anyone know
Thanks for the detailed and thorough review. Like everything but the safety being located in the handle, which means you can't reach out with the device using one hand it. If doing any work off a ladder, this leads to all sorts of body contortions trying to reach out while keeping both hands on the device. In trying to make something safer, they exponentially increased the danger of a ladder fall. I'm no fan of disabling safety devices, but this thing is asking for a zip tie on the handle while using it on a ladder.
Yeah, I have the whole Ryobi lawn suite (mower, weed whacker, leaf blower) and I much prefer the "base" charger to the weird USB thing with the shitty brick connector that covers 4 power outlets. Plus it never seems to complete the charger correctly.
