I am late to the party but this is one of the most satisfying videos I've watched in a while. I love ALL the design and patterns. Do you remember the widths of each strip? I loved the walnut-maple pattern with a strip of cherry in the middle. Well done
Often, when trimming hedges, if I hit a limb which is about the size of my little finger, it would jam my trimmer. I would wait a few minutes and it would work again. This last time, it won’t restart. It only clicks. Very disappointing as I loved the convenience and it worked good, when it worked.
I no longer use glue to attach cleats. Seems I frequently put them in the wrong place vertically and then can’t move them. You may want to relocate the tool holder in the future and want to move it up or down in relationship to the wall cleat.
Nice work! Im going to tackle this on my new home. Wouldn't it be easier to prime the walls and MDF before beginning and then touch up the primer where needed prior to paint?
So he stops the video, because he’s embarrassed that he can’t figure out how to put it together? What a useful video, leave out the part everyone can use! Stop wasting everyone’s time! Stop making videos!
Thanks for posting! Can you tell me if the variable speed really changes the motor rpm (or if it is just pressure adjustment)? I need an adjustable metering pump. Thanks again!
I am considering this machine and I want to mount it (without the stand) under my workbench on a slide out. Can you give me the measurements (exact footprint width, height, and depth).
I really enjoyed thus video, I like the simple lines. I picked up several helpful comments you made. Regarding the close up of you using the random orbital sander, it wasn't helpful and in fact the magnified close up movement was dizzying.
Excellent Video, and nice looking finished product. Question, the main 'maple' strips are 'Edge' grain, whereas the walnut thin strips are 'Face' grain, correct?
I recently used starbond to fill knot holes on an outdoor cedar farm table. In my experience when using cedar you don’t want to over fill the holes with glue. The knots are so hard compared to the wood that it created humps when I tried to sand the knots flush.
Mine quit working but it was a slow death. Sometimes I'd go to the shop and it would be running all by itself. I contacted wen and they told me that signals in the neighborhood are allowed to intwrfere with the remote. Wtf. At first it only worked intermittently and then the remote stopped working all together. The button on the unit does not power it on anymore. If you live in the cities, don't buy a wen. Wens solution was to unplug it and only plug it in when I need to use it. So I'd have to climb a ladder into the rafters to plug it in everytime. No thanks. Shop around for better products. Only had it a year or so.
Great video. Another useful recommendation: create smaller groupings of items, which enable you to create useful sets of easily portable “toolboxes” that you can shuttle between the wall and bench for common tasks. For example a glue+tape+glue spreader+…. Or a flush trim hand router + associated bits. Or small screw sets plus …
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ru-vid.comUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Been watching several different methods for building these accent walls, and this video was the most complete as far as I'm concerned. Beautiful end produce, which is the point.
Finally figured it out. I was looking how to affix the handle. It doesn't secure to the shaft tight enough. Yours is already affixed. I got the carbon fiber shaft. Different model...
Appears to shoot the grass and dirt right back into the freshly-cut channel. Hmmm... I have an older version of this edger and will probably just continue using it instead of upgrading.
what size board did you start with? was it 4/4 or bigger? Trying to figure out how you got such a thick piece of "edge" grain, which looks like face grain.
Your style and detail of video w/o of lot of distracting music etc. is a good fit for me. It really helps to clear up what's important vs. just showmanship!
