great vid, always nice when someone else is paying for the toys lol in the US we have 120v versions but they dont have enough oomph compared to a 240v. but ryobi is making it hard not to think about giving them money. i love makita but the deals sometimes sigh

Not a Ryobi fan, but they do seem to come out with a lot of very cool stuff. I have just been disappointed in the durability of their tools in the past. I'm pretty heavily into the Milwaukee and Makita 18v platforms now and don't really want another at this time. For those warming up their fingers to tell me that TTI makes Milwaukee and Makita (edit: I meant Ryobi, not Makita here), save your comment. It's irrelevant as they are NOT built to the same durability standards. Different lines built do different price points for different customers. Nothing wrong with that. This is really pretty amazing regardless. Cool tool, great demonstration and review as usual. Edit: Curious if there is a gas powered shredder out there that uses a similar chopping mechanism. I've seen tons of really dangerous homemade ones on YT, but no commercially built ones. Seems like this mechanism with a 100 cc or higher engine would really chew some stuff up in a hurry.

I don't think anyone would tell you that Milwaukee and Makita are both made by TTI, seeing as Makita most certainly isn't. I'm guessing you meant Milwaukee and Ryobi.

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Yeah, sorry. I meant Ryobi. Must have had my head up my ass for a moment. I just mentioned Makita as one of the two battery platforms I'm on and pretty heavily invested in. I'm just not interested in a third. Eventually, I suppose I'll have to make the jump to the next generation. It's inevitable. When I do, it'll probably be the same brands unless they start making shit tools, which is unlikely. I'll try to edit that. Thanks of the video and the correction.

I'd like to see the ryobi dethatcher vs a corded one. I'm on makita but was looking at getting an adapter so I can use makita batteries on the ryobi tools.

I have the ryobi 2x18v dethatcher and use it solely with my makita batteries. It Goes! Will pull you forward, only ever jammed when tangled full of kikuyu runners twice. Worst case senario, did 100m2 on 2x 5ah batteries. For lightly grooming it did up to 300m2.

Well bro that's a really good looking shredder and it looks to be as good as the ozito silent shredder that I've got, and it's excellent for small sections.....but if I were you by the looks of the size of your section I'd consider a commercial petrol powered shredder. No trying to poke stuff into a small space, just chuck it in to a nice big space....no fu@&ing around which is what you want for shredding as you've got to admit it's such a lovely job

Bought some ryobi cordless and petrol stuff 15 years ago and were crap so never looked at the brand again. Looks like they are heaps better now and comparable to Makita if not better. I have a NZ made Hansa electric chipper c3 and is the best non fossil fuel chipper on the planet. Most of the others are toys.

I'm surprised they even have a plug in model, I had a black and decker (I think) plug in shredder a long time ago, thing was crap, but it might have been more a fault of the scraggly branches we tried to feed it. This one looks pretty capable.

A cordless shredder Nearly completely useless. Perhaps except for slicing up leeks or spring onions as long as they are not to thick. I think ill stick to my original cordless a Briggs and Stratton. Maybe ok for indoor plant shredding?

I was thinking how useful it would be for a block of land I recently bought which has acres of lantana on it I'd like to chop up and compost. No power out there and a petrol shredder would be overkill for small stuff like lantana branches. So not even close to useless!

Again, Ryobi beats Ego to the market..... I have a "Super Handy" version of the corded model. Great little shredders once you know how to work it. (specifically clearing jams. Easiest way is to simply back off the blade when you get a jam, then recalibrate)

Energy is power * time. The Ryobi Crushing Shredder uses up to 2400W at peak motor output, and considerably less when it's not crushing something. You're paying around 30 pence of kilowatt-hour. Running it for ten minutes with only a few seconds at peak load costs you only a few pence. Your lifetime electricity requirements for this device are trivial compared to the cost of the device.

They are called Fronds. Leaves are on Trees. Fronds are on Palms. Palms are not Trees. They are their own classification. Biologically they more closely resemble grass than anything else. Unlike Trees, Palms have no wood. Their trunks are made up of tightly woven fibers. Anyway, would definitely say more Ryobi would be nice to see on the channel.

Don't tell me about palms dude, I know all about palms, that's why I know they are leaves. Never met any bontanist or palm expert that calls them fronds, and I've dealt with a lot of them. Fronds are found on ferns.

Our climate down here is not too dissimilar from your own climate down there in New Zealand yes, of course, there are differences, but we can grow numerous species of palms in South Florida much the same as you can down there in New Zealand. I’ve been doing this a long time and I’ve never heard any of my colleagues call them palm leaves they all call them palm fronds. At the same time now just like we call fuel gasoline and you call it petrol.

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL ah OK sorry, I stopped watching after I've seen the first unsuccessful shredding result, I have a petrol shredder Victory Tractor Europe but that has trouble with thin branches it just spits them out in a 30cm lengths so I am open to a battery or corded shredder but I don't have ryobi and it seemed very slow, but it is very quiet yeah
