Just received mine and it charges really quick compared to just using the furnished usb cable. I keep mine plugged in because I'm using my Ryobi rotary tool a lot to carve wood. Also use the little desktop vacuum a lot. To keep the dust out of the ports, I cut out the front section of the plastic clam shell to cover the ports when the charger is not in use.
They've announced 4Ah batteries? I just assumed they are wrapping 18650s in their own cases, and the newest ones max out at 3.6Ah. Are they making something custom? Or getting 21700s in there somehow?
I thought the same thing when I heard him say that... I dont see how they could fit a 21700 or even a 20700 into the current battery case or battery compartment that is built into the tool. What makes this questionable is the flat spot on the proprietary Ryobi battery pack, which decreases the available space diameter to roughly 22.5mm... I was thinking Ryobi could possibly use the 20700 cell with a very thin walled battery case, and include an extended battery door cover to make up for the 5mm of additional length. I think everyone is moving to the 21700 cells instead of the older 20700 cells, although, his wouldnt surprise me if Ryobi did that. When the entire portable power station industry is switching to lifeP04 batteries in their power stations (in late 2023), Ryobi just released a "NEW" power station (RYi1000) that is using the older and less desirable Li-NMC chemistry batteries. Im a Ryobi fan at heart, and truth be told, I would still buy a Ryobi USB battery back (with a higher capacity) even if it did have the older 20700 cells.
