The Ryobi RYi150BG does a great job of providing 120V AC power for low power devices.
If you want to know if this works with a specific electronic device, check the data plate on your device to see if it's under 1.25A for current usage, and be sure that it can handle a modified sine wave. For projected runtime, see formula at 2:27 to determine it for your device and battery combination.

oddly enough, the "sensitive" electronics are usually mostly fine with these modified sine wave inverters. They rectify the voltage to DC anyways. Usually the bigger problems are electrical noise for audio circuits, and the hum in motors. Most cell phone and laptop chargers have no problems with this.

Appreciate the thorough review. Am on the fence with this one (I'm to that point with a bunch of the Ryobi 18V line after over 15 years of being with it). I'd be willing to pay more for a beefier model, which I think would add a lot more utility to the product. 1.25A is just not a whole lot to work with. If it could run my Dremel without bogging down, I'd buy it for sure. That was one of the first applications I thought of when these first came out.
@DoresoomReviews

@ZeoCyberG
@ZeoCyberG 3 года назад
@@philjohnson796 There is the 40v that does 300W... There's an inherent limitation with a single battery solution. Too bad Ryobi never released the multi-battery inverter they were supposed to in 2019, I believe that was suppose to be a 1500W unit... The 40v batteries are basically 36v, so there is the possibility of creating your own connection to use with an off the shelf inverter but nothing plug and play...

I have an off-grid cabin and an off-grid boat and I use Ryobi for everything for the fans for the lights for the tools. I have two of those six bank battery chargers by Ryobi. And I really would love to figure out how to hook them up to solar. Does Ryobi have something that would charge up those 18 volt batteries off of solar or really what I want is to be able to charge the battery bank of six leave that all the time and I can always have charge batteries. But it needs to be hooked up to solar how to do that I bet you know
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 11 месяцев назад
Ryobi doesn't have a solution for hooking up chargers directly to solar. They do have the newer version of this inverter that can charge a battery via USB-C input ( www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-150-Watt-Push-Start-Power-Source-and-Charger-for-ONE-18-Volt-Battery-Tool-Only-RYi150CBT/321560207 ), and I have the Jackery Solar Saga 100W panels that output to USB-C that would work with it. I reviewed the solar panels here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YYMgjE4SP8c.html If you want to run both of the 6-Pack chargers, you could look into a solar battery generator/inverter. You'd have to charge it off of solar and then use it to run the Ryobi chargers. Not the most efficient, but possibly the best solution. Lastly, Ryobi did just come out with an 18V battery inverter that can handle up to 8 batteries at once. It CAN charge via USB-C, but it's at a pathetically measly 60W. So if you had near perfect efficiency it would take 10 hours to fully charge 8 4Ah batteries. It's also super overpriced: www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-18-Volt-1800-Watt-Power-Station-Battery-Inverter-Push-Button-Battery-Generator-8-Port-Charger-Tool-Only-RYI818BT/326468633

So far it seems like it might not be overly plausible, but I’m trying to figure out all my options...
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews Год назад
Ah, gotcha! If it's well insulated, you could just put a lower wattage bulb in there and see if that's enough to maintain temperature. Or get a 3' pipe heater with a thermostat and line the perimeter. That way it only draws power when you need it to. The closer to freezing you are without actually going below freezing, the better. Heat transfers faster with higher temperature differentials.

Modified Sine Wave. Junk. Use it for a Dremel Tool? I suppose but I have the battery powered Dremel for those situations. Not as powerful but I have used it for tasks beyond what its intended for. I buy good AA batteries in quantity when they are on sale since I use them for many things. Grinding steel with the Dremel will use them up pretty quick. Don't care. inverter output is too small to be useful for anything but USB and who doesn't already have ways to do that. I know I have several. Another "thing" with a flashlight. Hilarious. Looked at this inverter in the store and the package conveniently doesn't mention the wave form. The 300 watt 40 volt inverter does, "pure sinewave". Hopefully they are being honest and if so that item should be something that would have some practical use. Thanks for the video.

A 12VDC fridge wouldn't need an inverter like this. A DC to DC converter rated for your fridge's wattage would work better, as long as you had a way to connect it to the battery and the 12VDC car cigarette port. It will be WAY more efficient than going from 18VDC->120VAC->12VDC too. Just make sure you check the fridge's power consumption is reasonable for the batteries you want to use it with. Im no electrician but the amount of stupid questions asking "can this power my fridge, drill etc are baffling.. it takes a simple math equation to find out. Volt x amp= watts.. watts divided by volts = amps.. People see a plug and think they can use it for everything as an outlet..

🤣 That's why I gave the formula for runtime and how to look up the data plate on the appliance for wattage. I swear, the Home Depot website Q&A section must have someone asking if it will run every electrical device man has ever invented.
