I did a run time test on this product using a 4ah battery. It took all night until it got to 3 bars. It lasted about another 9 hours until it got to 2 bars. And then I waited until it died and it died with a total of 31 hours and 26 minutes until it died.

Was that an HP 4.0 mAh batter or regular 4.0mAh battery? either way, that's bonkers runtime !!! Great emergency light that will last a very, very very.... very long time ! And durable !

You should do a torque test video on the Ryobi P261 1/2 inch impact. I know TTI rates it at 300 lb ft. I would be curious to see how accurate that is. Mine has came in handy numerous times working on suspension parts where I couldn't get a long breaker bar or on bolts that wouldn't loosen with a breaker bar.

My Ryobi combo kit came with the old bulb version ... Is it possible to transform it to LED ?
@notavailable9919
@notavailable9919 5 лет назад
Technically yes, but from what I have gathered you are better off just buying another light designed for led.

Most of the tools you review I can not comment on, but Ryobi I can, while I don't have this particular light I do have a bunch of their other products. These tools are perfect for what I use them for, and that is occasional home/farm DIY projects. Home Depot is found almost in all large towns, have an extensive lineup of tools and all of them can use the different batteries made by them as long as they are the same voltage. With that said these tools are not made for the professional, they simply won't last long under heavy use ( I know from experience, at least most of them won't), but for someone that uses them on an occasional basis they are more than adequate.
@stinkycheese804
@stinkycheese804 7 лет назад
Don't be silly, I was using Ryobi professionally decades ago, long before the quality increases that they've made in the past few years. Will they stand up to as much abuse? No. Don't abuse tools. Will the last as long in general? No, but usually the cost per hour use is lower than some contractor grade brand that chimps like to drool over. There's the thing, you burn out a Ryobi drill and a bare tool replacement can be had on Amazon for $30, and yet, I have never burnt out a Ryobi drill. If a professional states they can't do their job without the "best" tools, it tells you more about their incompetence using tools than anything else. Pros were getting jobs done for decades using tools that were nowhere near as sturdy, powerful, and well designed as they are today, including Ryboi's tools. If you can't do the same job with a better tool, you aren't really a pro, just a handyman masquerading as one.

@stinkycheese804

This product is disappointing. For about $1 more they could have thrown at least a 3W Cree LED in and a basic aluminum plate to heatsink it, at least doubling the lumens. The video states 2W but I write 1.5W below because at their lumen rating they shouldn't need more than 1.5W actual drive current. I don't think anyone needs their light to run 30+ hours on a charge (except possibly in a natural disaster) but almost everyone would appreciate doubling the light output if not even more. I am guessing they made it so weak so it didn't compete with their higher powered lights, but by 2016 stanfards let alone today, it is quite pathetic to make it only 1.5W. Heck my 1 xAA EDC light beats that and is a fraction of the size, and didn't cost more either. If they're only going to make it this weak, heck they could just throw a little LED and plate on every battery pack and have it be a flashlight WITHOUT a separate head unit so it could be used on every tool instead of the even more pathetic little LEDs they put on most tools now. If you're running a tool that uses 6A+ current anyway, it is well worth it to have the LED light on it using a mere 150mA more. It might even speed up your work to where it saves rather than uses any extra current.

As with the voltage regulation of any LED light, this one also certainly must emit a small amount of heat. Luckily they vented the head, however... so the LED and heatsink should stay fairly cool.
@AznTony360
@AznTony360 5 месяцев назад
Well, led’s aren’t 100% efficient so ofc there’s still some heat. The most efficient led bulbs can run up to 85% efficiency, 15% is lost as heat through circuitry and the led itself. The only ones I know of sold commercially is the Dubai lamps. Compared to the USA less, the Dubai bulbs run cooler and less energy for the same amount of light output. Why? As you increase the output power the efficiency of led’s drop. Dubai bulbs run 3x the amount of Filaments at a fraction the power, achieving the same amount of brightness for less power. The Dubai 3w bulb produces 600 lumens. That’s 200 lumens per watt. While the usa bulbs, same manufacturer/brand, 8.8watts for 800 lumens. 90lumens per watt. Another name brand 6.5watt for 600 lumens. 92lumens per watt. The Dubai are 85%, most bulbs in the us and other parts of the world only run around 50% efficient, the rest is lost as heat.

Not at all, they could have put at least a 3W LED in, or even 5W with some heatsinking metal behind it and it would be no larger. FYI theirs is running at around 1.5W.

Well dang, you spend the whote review --plugging Ryobi tools! Could've used your real help. I'm already sold but this flashlight sucks! Tried to buy LED from Home Depot but it wouldn't work in the flashlight. SPECIFICALLY what bulb will work in this flashlight????? Just spent 4 days without power due to Hurricane Michael, in Florida panhandle... Your review was no help whatsoever You should at least change the title... waste of time.
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 6 лет назад
This IS the led one....you must have the older non-led version.
@stinkycheese804
@stinkycheese804 5 лет назад
Right now you must be feeling pretty foolish. This has the LED built in, but if you were trying to LED upgrade the older P704 incandescent light Ryobi makes, it takes any standard LED retrofit/drop-in designated for 18V. Frankly they're hardly worth the bother as the form factor of the bulb limits it to about 1W which is not very bright for a light that size running an LED bulb, BUT at least you would have high runtime, perhaps approaching 50 hrs on the 4Ah battery they offer.
