Ryobi PCG008 18V 8ah Rapid Charger w/USB-C & USB-A
The Ryobi 8aH rapid charger is a must have for anyone with larger batteries, especially 8ah and 12ah batteries as it cuts your charging time down significantly. I tested out 3 batteries to cover all ranges of sizes and charge times. I found that the 2ah battery charges in 31min, the 8ah in 69min and the big 12ah battery took 94min. The PCG008 also includes two USB ports on the front of the unit, a USB-C, and a USB-A. The two USBs on the front offer decent charging rates. Using the USB-C to charge my 4v 3ah battery took about 2.5 hours. The built in onboard fan keeps the unit cool and has a low hum to it when it is charging. Overall, I am very pleased with the product and would highly recommend it. You will charge your batteries faster than you will use them up.
The unit measures 6.5” x 8.5” x 2.5”. You also have 2 keyhole slots on the rear of the unit to allow for vertical mounting. The keyholes are spaced out at 4.5" or 114mm.

Very cool, I was looking at one of these because it takes an eternity to charge my 6AH battery with the older style charger. Usually don't care much, but every weekend I use it on my stick vacuum for the house and that thing just loves to eat batteries.

Yea it's been awesome during the fall. I can rotate between my 6ah and 8ah batteries for leaf plowing without any issues

I love mine. I ended up downsizing my charging station and just have this guy for my Ryobi batteries. Went from 3 separate chargers to just this 1 and haven't had a single issue keeping batteries charged

I am guessing the extra terminals on the back have something to with the battery charging faster or slower. The first 2ah battery was a none hp so maybe try charging a 4ah hp battery to see if the speed is more in line with the advertised.

Use in a leaf blower or vacuum cleaner and you can still drain one in like 30-60 minutes. These kind of tools burn through an amp hour of battery every 3-6 minutes, depending on the model of tool. So there are ways to drain them relatively quick while putting them through their paces due to the high current draw for what might be up to an hour.

Without having both units to test, I wouldn't be able to tell you. Just from a quick glance it seems that the bigger unit has better cooling resulting in more efficient charging and battery reset time. The PCG008 also has the two USB ports on the front for additional charging. *did a bit more research and looks like the PCG008 should be about 20% faster.

It’s an 8 amp charger so if it charges at that 8 amp rate it will provide the battery with 8amps in 1 hour or 8ah. Probably will take a bit longer than an hour, maybe an 1 hr 10 min, 1 hr 15 min depending of the charging curve built into the charger. Usually devices with Lithium Ion batteries don't like to be charged at high charging rates at the top end of the charge. In cases like a cellphone, or even an electric vehicle, at around 80% charge, the charge rate will be reduced to preserve battery longevity. I would assume that Ryobi has also taken this into account when designing this charger.

I charge my 12ah battery overnight with the other one you showed and it takes 6 hours and 10 minutes

@@rayhall6400ah Yea. That's just a standard charger charger, usually the one that comes in the tool kits. If you don't need your battery constantly, and can manage charging it once overnight then I wouldn't spend on the rapid charger. But if you're constantly finding yourself running out of juice and waiting for your batteries to charge, then I definitely recommend the upgrade.

This 8 amp charger only rapid charges the hp batteries that have the two extra terminals. It charges a fully depleted hp 4.0Ah battery in about 35 mins. Which is about 30 mins faster than the fast charger. If you have the grey colored batteries or even the older batteries it won't rapid charge those batteries.

Incorrect, it only charges the hp 3.0ah battery as well as the 2.0ah at 4 Amps/80-90watts. It only charges the hp 4.0ah, 6.0ah, 8.0ah, 9.0ah and 12.0ah at 8amps which is about 165-185watts. Also the usb c port is just a 5 volt 3amp/15watt port, with no PD SUPPORT.

@riceball777 why incorrect? I said it only rapid charges the hp batteries that have the "two extra terminals" those are the only batteries that will rapid charge. Batteries that don't have the two extra terminals will only fast charge. Look at the charger you'll see those extra terminals. Grey colored batteries don't have the extra terminals

@@konadayz426 the 2amp hour and 3 amp hour hp batteries have the 2 extra terminals and do not rapid charge at 8amp and only charge at 4 amps on this charger.
