Wrong. Remember these 3 guys weren't fighting dirty. No neck bites, eye gouging, no punching in the face, trying to break fingers, etc. The 3 people were just grappling. Remember, there's no rules in a street fight. In fact I bet you and I and one of your friends could beat up this guy if we each had baseball bats.

I've sparred against 2 people multiple times but never 3. To put it into perspective how hard this is, start from the bottom, and let three determined white belts jump on top of you and see what you can do. If you do it, I'd love to see a video. -Rener

All those people complaining about how he'd get punched on the streets: do you not realise that Martial Arts are not exclusively about super efficient self-defense, but are also sport, a discipline with rules and artificial limitations? One guy beating three others at the same time is pretty impressive in more or less any discipline!

If they were police officers would be like "Hey, grab that leg, help me with this arm, control his hips" This guys didn't comunicate each other at all and that's why was easier for my man Ryron to win
@RobKinneySouthpaw
@RobKinneySouthpaw 7 лет назад
Or even have one person triangle-grab the upper arm and have a completely different person pull on the wrist with both hands. A two man armbar with a third controlling the legs. Or a cross choke with two right hands. Weird stuff you could pull.
@troyus111
@troyus111 7 лет назад
Yea, exactly. These 3 were all going for submissions where a team orf prison guards or police work together. For instance 1 guy would control the legs. Not go for silly ankle locks or anything but just hold them and keep them still with his whole body. One guy then each arm (and a forth head where I was trained) would slowly work towards a solution.
@killersalmon4359
@killersalmon4359 7 лет назад
Well, the thing is, a team of prison guards, or police actually TRAIN to use team tactics. This was probably the first time those guys who were in among the three did this, so it probably didn't occur to them to communicate, come up with a gameplan prior to jumping in, etc.

Most people ignore Game Theory in general and especially in situations they have an advantage. (which negates a lot of their advantage) 2 guys need to always concentrate on isolating 1 arm. While third guy back mounts. @ 1:06 FIGHT WAS OVER - Right arm is isolated and third guy needs to come in and put his right elbow in Gracie's armpit and lock his hands around Gracies wrist and lean his body weight back. Gracie forced to abandon his attack on bottom guy, and bottom guy start working the left leg up and around the shoulder while sliding out the the left. - (you really only need 1 game theory person in the group of three, working as a "support"- going after/ helping, isolated an arm and preventing a teammates submission) - instead the third guy slides in on the leg ( which is never the optimal play (IMO) unless your goal is to get Gracies pants off and take that booty) Which would probably still not lead to a submission.

See the thing is, if and even if these guys were going 100% which I would argue they arent because theres an imbalance in traditional martial arts gyms where people believe they cant beat their teacher because they believe so strongly in the hierarchy but i'll suspend those beliefs because they arent founded on much other my experiences, they are still no reasonable analog to the standard ganging up situation you are talking about. if one person holds down then thats 4 fists and 4 legs to choose from to hit you with

Multiple opponents in BJJ is not the same as multiple striking opponents. If you take a guy to the ground and he's got two buddies, they're just going to stomp on your head/ribs/whatever, not get down and roll with you. What he shows is that it can work on multiple opponents within the same system. Outside of that, you need more than just BJJ.

ryron would probably get destroyed against even 3 untrained attackers as long as they got it to the ground. He was extremely vulnerable to strikes the entire match.
@iNinjaWalker
@iNinjaWalker 7 лет назад
No, the whole point of the video was that it's an experiment to see what it's like rolling with three people at once. Like that other guy said, had this been a realistic scenario, Ryron would throw punches too.
@pawelmurias
@pawelmurias 7 лет назад
I'm pretty sure ryron would be able to train 3 students so bad that he would destroy them 3 at once in striking.

This is such nonsense. Obviously a 3 vs. 1 scenario would only occur in a no rules street fight, not some kind of BJJ only contest. In a street fight, what's to stop one of the 3 guys from stomping your head on the ground? What's to stop one of the 3 guys from poking you in the eye as you're wrestling the other 2? If you're going by artificial limited rules fight then I'm pretty sure a great boxer would take on far more amateurs in a boxing only fight using footwork. This means nothing. When you're going against multiple opponents the last place you'd want to be is on the ground.
@azerty1933
@azerty1933 7 лет назад
haitianxu you want to watch bjj you watch this, you want to watch mma you watch mma, you want to watch a bunch of people fighting each other with almost no rules watch team fighting championship... That's almost as relevant as saying boxing sparing are bullshit because in the street a guy could use a knife...
@BlockheadJiujitsu
@BlockheadJiujitsu 7 лет назад
haitianxu this is such nonsense. Obviously a comment this stupid would only happen in a BJJ experiment video. What's to stop someone from taking the time to understand that not everything is about simulating real life scenarios but also about testing your skill in specific situations to understand movement, mindset, breathing and awareness better. If we're going by the lowest level knee jerk reaction I'm sure even the most basic RU-vid commenter could come up with a really stupid way to criticise a BJJ video. This means nothing. At the end of the day the last place you'd want to be is in the mind of someone so basic they needed to find fault with an excellent show of skill.
@denizakguner9256
@denizakguner9256 7 лет назад
no, your mind and the minds of other hero worshipping idiots like Shshd are too basic to understand that this is not martial arts but a cartoonish fantasy propaganda program created by the Gracie family. Their students are conditioned beforehand to lose, even with purely grappling, any one of those attackers (even with 0 prior training) could have done a very simple neck choke but of course they would never go for the most efficient moves because the video is shot to promote the flatulent Gracie brand name... Meanwhile, every Gracie is out of serious competition now that MMA has gained worldwide popularity and real warriors and not con artists are dominating martial arts contests.

Deniz Akguner probably the most ignorant thing I’ve read today. You clearly have never trained bjj. Period. If so, you would know that the Gracie’s don’t only train on the ground period. I know from experience. Spread your bullshit propaganda elsewhere

What happens if the three guys are striking too? Or just three non jiu-jitsu people just wacking (say two guys come in front, one goes around to the back, or one front two side/back)? I'm guessing in a lot of ways it would be easier but I'd imagine adding striking would be very challenging. Would one maybe try to throw them?

I trained 2 and 3 on 1 while in the military to meet an objective and took the training with me after I got out. It makes for an incredible workout. To add an even more interesting spin on it, give the 2 or 3 a 9' piece of rope and make it their job to try to tie up the target - it's the target's job to remain untied as long as possible.
