The people here who says they did not like Rick as person obviously didn’t know about him that well at all ey... He’s been in my life for 16 years, and it was a huge loss when he passed... He was incredibly funny and sweet, he showed all real love for the music and the Quo fans out here. Just imagining Rick being rude and selfish... that just didn’t exist. And you who say he “sucks”, try yourself and keep up the rhythm he had, try to sing as you’re hitting the strings. Try to play a whole concert and never fail. And for god sakes, never underestimate real music
He was a great guy. I met him in the mid 70’s. I was a little kid. I was a bit scared of him. As the decades passed and I came to know him through concerts & interviews , I learnt he was simply an honest lovely guy. From humble beginnings. He was always generous and never rude or to proud, because of his fame .
rick has an unimitable style. I can learn the cherds and practice his their songs, but never sounds the same. Rick is the deffinitive rythm guitarrist of electric blues and booguie rock music
Cut my rhythm guitar teeth on Parfitt, Rossi, Malcolm Young and Mick Cocks. Cool to see him playing in this clip. The bigger strings are a necessity when you're nailing them hard with the pick, as can be seen. RIP to the master... Thanks for posting this vid.
Rick a telecaster and a Vox AC 30 three ingredients mixed to become one! Any of us ,over a certain age, will remember the sight of Rick against the wall of dartfords finest. That touch of feedback as he cranked the volume and hit that first downstroke cutting like a Lance into Caroline.
if i ever meet rick i will let him sign my tele and my arm so i can get it tatoed so rick will always be with me when i play YOURE MY HERO RICK KEEP ON ROCKING!!!!
With about 128 million album sales,,i dont think Rick will be losing any sleep over the negative comments !!!!,,,what he does is quite unique,,and brilliant,,i can play sone satch stuff,,but i much prefer to play Quo stuff on my gigs !!!
i have seen and heard most of the greatest guitarists around and i mean great but what this guy dose is almost impossible. if you think you can play a 2 hour+ show the way rick dose without missing a beat metronome good with 14 Gauge strings i would say bull shit oh and he's 63 doing this above and more. most of the ball bags commenting on here wont even make 63
@Campbell88guitar well on thing is hes got 3 amps marshall JCM 800 what is amazing beefy sound to it Vox AC30 which is a more metal music amp and a speaker simulator and apparentaly they adapted the guitar in the first bit of this to make it sound better like they do on TV and so on
@xpi7 plays Bar chords well ...he should be able to after 45 years ! I'll put my tin hat on ! as I'll get some abuse , I'm sorry but it just gets boring one idea !
tubelogin1 - I don't believe there is another rhythm guitarist that gets close to Parfitt for sheer consistency. It's not easy to play to Quo despite all the cheap jibes. Many guitarists when asked to play a Quo type 12 Bar shuffle cannot hold a candle to Rick Parfitt.
