To help with stress testing on OCCT I have uploaded this video to show both single core and multi core tests. This should help check for a stable undervolt. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-77zBduI09gY.html

Is there any point to doing this if you never hit 90° (limit for 5900x?) I can't even get above 85° when transcoding video, which is way more intense than any game I've thrown at it. I use a Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R.

I upgraded my cpu and motherboard to the 5900X and earlier today ordered a h150i cooler and a new case to fit it in because my 5900X was hitting 100c with my NZXT kraken x53 240mm cooler and shutting my pc down. Ive since came across your undervolt videos and after applying the settings in cinebench r23 my cpu didnt go above 70c. You have just saved me around £250 as i no longer need the new parts i ordered. For my 5900X, I find it easier to tune on a per core rather than all core as you need to find your most efficient 1-2 cores first (the ones utilized mostly during single-core stress tests) and lower the negative offset from 30 down to the value that passes the stress test. When the stable limits are established for these 1-2 cores, you will find remaining cores more tolerant of high values like -30. In my case, it came to -25 for Core 0 and -10 fore Core 5 (most efficient core) and the rest are -30. The best tool for quick stress testing is OCCT (free) where you can choose which core(s) to test and to help identify which cores are your most efficient ones so you start with those first. So when you are running CB23, you can monitor core frequencies in OCCT. For stress testing each core, if you choose extreme with AVX2, the errors will appear within 1-2 min so it's an efficient way of tuning. Temp is sensitive to TDC so I keep it low at 120 to maintain max of 80 during CB23; EDC affects CB23 scores but not always in a linear fashion; I get a CB23 score of close to 23000 at around 130 and the score gets lower when I raise it. So you have to test for your CPU.

Good starting guide. Rig = Fractal Torrent Compact , Asus Rog Strix B550-f-gaming, 5900x-Nhd-15 dual 140mm, asus dual rtx 3070 deshroud 2 x noctua a12x25 fans. Case fans stock 2x 180mm , bottom 2 x noctua 140mm, exhaust 120 noctua and Corsair rm850x . 200 ppt tdc 150 edc 140. CR23 multi 23386 -Single 1724. I personally went with finding per core negative offset. OCCT 1 hour per core set affinity with task manager. Prime95 same . Then prime95 windows safe mode set affinity task manager. Many weeks making sure lol.. never had a whea or bsod since I dumped my 5800x. Also big note. Temps max and hold at 72-74c on the hardest torture test avx-avx 2 etc. which are just not real world. This guide would be better served with setting bios first. Such as turn of spread spectrum with xmp oc ram. That will dumpster you alone. Plus power supply idle. C states and p states. Also turn auto for precision boost over drive in all places except pbo 2 where you are in advanced. Turn off fmax enhancer no load line calibration while finding CO negs. Also if you are failing tests for stability go into power plan ‘balanced’ and set minimum processor stage to 50% - 100% because windows is dumb asf sometimes. After finding stability then bring that back down a bit until issue. Possibly turn off fast boot in bios. There is more but really. The global c states and p states use best cores etc should be here. Good basic guide though

Thanks, I'm considering this after a disaster with the Asus board I bought for my 5900X. Didn't care for the case anyway and it seems like my RTX3060ti puts off more heat than the 5900X on average, so I'm considering downsizing to a SFF case with a MicroATX board and a GTX1660ti or similar. The MicroATX board offerings don't seem to offer much VRM cooling.

Hi I was searching on YT and I saw your video. Really new to this overclocking. I have a X570 Auros Master rev1.0, 5900X. 16GBx4 Gskill 3600Mhz (b-die) stock timings 17-19-19-39 running @ 16-16-16-36 v1.360. I enabled PBO, advanced (motherboard), thermal limit @75. I set my fan curve silent and run max 100% @ ≥70C. However my system boosts all the time and checking the vcore it shoots up to ~1.425V. It is annoyingly loud. I have a U12A, phanteks enthoo luxe case, 3x140 noctua exhaust, 1x140 rear exhaust, 2x140 noctua front intake. Any recommendations?

Ran Cinebench R23,R20 running around 56c to 60c. I set CURVE negative 15 = i get higher temperature and CPU frequency, but low stability. I tried opposite way, and I set CURVE positive 5 - now is my stability ok.

5900X with X570S Master, 240AIO, 21C ambient, 3600 C16 B-die. Option 1 I hit close to 80C with -25 ACCO and score around 22700 with CBR23 MC, didn't complete a SC run to see the score but was boosting to 4.95GHz. Option 2, 165/115/150 I hit 70C with -25 ACCO and score around 22850 / 4.5-4.525GHz with CBR23 MC and 1633 4.95GHz SC. Option 3, 185/125/170 I hit 75-80C with 5700XT GPU running Heaven at about 60C (AIO is top exhaust, 5 intake fans, 3 exhaust including 2x AIO fans). Clocks were about the same, CBR23 MC score was a bit lower and package power was higher so not worth it. CBR23 SC runs were unstable with -25 ACCO after only a few seconds but were stable for a few minutes each with -15 and -20 ACCO, but temperature increased. Option 2 seems like the sweet spot with my sample and board. 175/120/160 was about the same but again was unstable after a couple minutes with CBR23 SC, but had highest MC score of just shy of 23000 at 22983.

I tried many things, but I ended up leaving my 5900x at stock. Why? Because I am getting 21600 on cb23 @135w boosting at 4.3ghz all cores. PBO and undervolt will get me on the mid 22k. Is only 4%/5% more performance. Maybe my 5900x is just a great out of the box. I am using a Fractal torrent and a noctua DH15 for cooling.

Hello I’m trying to put a negative CO on the 5900x I’m using an msi motherboard. I’m struggling to find out which core crashes because when I look in the event logger after I get BSOD (that’s how I know my core offset needs adjusting) I can only see an error code from a bug check it says. I have finally got a good grasp of how to do this except after I get what I think is a stable curve after it passes corecycler over night , occt , cinabench and prime 95 for 10 minutes STABLE one would think but when I fire up a game I’m currently playing (Jedi survivor) I get the BSOD . My only recourse is to try and find the core that failed but after looking in event viewer I don’t see any whea logger errors only an error from a bug check which I assume means a BSOD error. Does anyone hace any advice on this problem ? Thanks

Ryzen clockspeed is not more important than ram speed and timing. Some people OC their ryzen cpu and get zero performance upgrade because they forget to OC the ram and utilize the timing.
@SiCSpiT1
@SiCSpiT1 2 года назад
That's because there's not much thermal headroom left in Gen 3 out of the factory. Which is why if you under-volt you can get high clocks because of how the infinity fabric sets clock speed based on your temps. The infinity fabric is basically an auto over-clocker.
