I built my first gaming rig with what I thought were really good components but my performance is horrible. My games stutter at times. My frame time can be all over the place. Hello, First, I have to note that it's "weird" you opted for a Ryzen 7 7700X CPU for a gaming rig. If it's to work with your computer, that's understandable, but the Ryzen 7 7800X3D offers a lot more performance in gaming situations (if you have a regrets about it, you still can resell your 7700X and find a 7800X3D on second hand to boost your perfs). About your performance stuttering problem, this can have multiple factors, ranging from RAM problem (RAM stick failure or bad configuration in BIOS settings), to the PSU being bad quality or having a problem, and it can also be a driver problem in Windows. I can't help you and tell you exactly what the problem is, but here are some tips that I've found for you and that worked for other people on the web, resolving their stuttering problems in games : (I straight copy/paste the answers that I have found to work) - "oh yes, turning the xmp profile ON fixes it, make sure its on guys!" - "After turning on High Performance power plan on Windows it worked without stutters." - "This resolved my stutters as well!! In addition, I also turned on VSync in the NVidia control panel. I was going crazy thinking how an i7 12700K + 3080TI + 32 GB RAM could cause stutters in Jedi Fallen Order." - "I had the same problem and I solved it by disabling the RESIZE BAR and 4g options in bios" - "I did something that works for now, I uninstalled geforce experience and game ready drivers and it worked for me on Assassin's Creed Origins. Not having the fps I hoped (maybe because I'm missing the drivers) but the stuttering is gone." - "Hey all! I came upon this thread while looking for a solution for this. I have a similar set-up and was able to fix it using debloated drivers. I used NVCleanstall - don't use stock drivers." - " tried a lot of things (clean install of Nvdia drivers, disable/enabling video options inside and outside the games, enabling/disabling XMP, reconnectin all the power cables and mobo, etc). The only thing that work for me was a clean install of Windows 11, then i install the lastest drivers, i install manually the last Mobo software (Asus Crate) and all is working fine now." - "Just tested and it worked, just disable game overlay in GeForce Experience. GeForce Experience > Settings > General > In-Game Overlay" Well, these are many solutions you can try to fix your performance issue. Sorry it's only a copy/paste of solutions but I think that gives you already enough material to investigate your problem and also hope that the issue isn't definitive and can be fixed. If I were you, I would start with the Nvidia drivers, NVCleanstall, and installing only the drivers, not Geforce experience etc... , then if that doesn't solve your problem, I would try all the other solutions one by one (don't try them all at once or you won't be able to tell what was the culprit). I hope that helped at least a little ; )

@@Mat_1000 Thank you so much!!! I am extremely grateful for your help. The reason why I ended up with the 7700X it’s because it came in a Micro Center bundle along with the MOBO and Ram Sticks. I wanted the 7800X3D but it was sold out at the time. The PC is fairly new and all I use it for is gaming. I don’t even browse the internet unless it’s to download drivers. I’ve tried most of the things you suggested but I will look into two or three things mentioned. I was researching if it made sense to bite the bullet and just buy the 7800X3D but every forum I ran into said it didn’t make sense. I am going to look into some sort of trade in. Not sure if Micro Center does something like that.

@@geogadget1 the ryzen 7 7700 is a really good processor see some fps tests with your pc config, and your stutter issue could be a ram issue and some other things the previous guy said. I agree with most of the things he said except the part where he kinda emphasizes you NEED a r7 7800x3d the r7 7700 is a really good processor too.

@@shahtazarab8145 I appreciate your feedback and thank you for your time. Is there any DDR5 Ram sticks that you recommend? My current sticks don’t have RGB and I were to get a new pair I would like RGB. Could be black or white preferably 32gb kit.

@@geogadget1 Hello again, sorry I have been busy so I wasn't able to reply and only have time to reply shortly now. But I wanted to add that you don't have to be disappointed of owning the Ryzen 7 7700X, it's a little less performant in gaming but it's still a great CPU. I'm actually building myself a new computer and I chose the 7700X because I want to game with my computer and also make 3D rendering etc.. So don't be sad about what I said in your CPU choice. I totally understand if it was part of a deal. And on top of all, in gaming, what does 80% of the job is the graphic card. So don't worry, you're totally fine with this CPU ; ) I hope you'll be able to resolve your stuttering frame rate problem. I'm sure there is a solution to it but if so computer configuration dependent that you can only try different things until you find the culprit. And if it's really a big problem and can't find the culprit, and if your computer is still under warranty where you bought it, maybe try to make the warranty work (I know it's not always the most comfortable solution once we have windows all installed and set up with all our games and programs). Good luck man with your problem and also don't hesitate to ask for help on Reddit or other specialized forums like Linustechtips etc...
