I do a similar thing when I talk to people with Southern accents. I subconsciously adopt some of their accent and slang and keep it for a few hours after talking with them. I like the accent so I guess my brain just sponges it up while in the moment.
@@lo-fiFromChicago he interrupts but knows he does it, so it goes by much easier, the interrupters that interrupt and just keep yappin with no sense of the group are the bad ones
the government seized it....and Joe is like "Hey...Jail Dude. Sell me the stuff the government took from you" pretty sure Joe think that seized property is returned to you when you get out of prison....like you cell phone when you do an overnight, or some shit.
When do they have to auction it off? Do they have to? It’s not illegal so I doubt they’d just destroy it on purpose. I don’t doubt some idiot has gotten finger prints all over it and it’s been played by a few people. Plus all the other incompetent mistakes that can happen when lots of people involved, I would not be surprised if it makes it out of fed custody in worse condition than just sat in a room and left alone.
@@jlondon1441 I think it's the Feds choice and they would likely auction it off if they needed funds and knew it would sell for a ton. Like when your local PD auctions off old cruisers and siezed cars.
@@johnmachter40yes.... because insurance would just pay the 700 dollars per pill...the pill only costs 13.50, giving it for almsot free to people whose insurance cant pay it refuse to pay while the insurance for 1 other person's insurance does pay covers it all together. He used that 700$ to cover the free pills and whatever is left is put to AIDs research. He wasn't even found guilty for the price hike dude
He was a patsy that was thrown under the bus... people definitely should hear what he has to say,. The real architects and beneficiaries of the enterprise walked away without jail time and without public scrutiny
Everybody saying no is an idiot thats gonna do a 180 after he gets out, does an appearance, and explains his side.of the story....he's the antithesis of the pharmaceutical companies they hate, but media got everybody brainwashed
Martin Shkreli used to live stream all the time and I remember him telling his story on how he came up. He was obsessed with learning about stocks as a kid.. after college at Bumfuck university he started on the ground floor as a mail peddler at some random investment company. Shkreli being the talkative guy that he is, made people quickly realize his savant-like stock predicting abilities, which soon made him an ally to the company. Shkreli proved his worth time and time again so he starting getting profit percentages, which made him a millionaire. Another one of his hobbies were the pharmaceutical world. he convinced high powered investors to buy certain pharma companies to monopolize the sell of particular medicines in the united states. over time he purchased the US rights to the drug that made him famous for changing it to $13.50 a pop to $750.
@@danielmarkkula3004 Because he wanted to make money off of the insurance companies who buy the drug. He sold it for regular price to uninsured patients and all the money daraprim made was put into r&d for a better drug as daraprim is a bad treatment.
Standard practice in pharma to buy patents and jack up the prices. Martin's issue was that he was not a mega political donor like big pharma, so he hadn't "purchased the rights" to play that game. Many other companies do what he did on a regular basis, they just give millions to PACs and lobbyists so they are allowed too.
@@signoguns8501 not really. 95% of the worlds new medicines, cancer treatments, etc.. are developed in the united states. In countries with socialized health systems very few new drugs are developed as there is no profit to cover the expensive research and clinical trials needed to deliver a drug to market. Capitalism breeds innovation.
When joe said that Rza got nervous (I think he believes in the back of his mind, that joe would probably stick to his word and wu-tang doesn’t want that to happen)
He was saying that if he was in shkrelis position, i.e. hated by much of the population, he should look into philanthropy and release the album to the public for free. Hes not saying the music should be free hes saying that shkreli should do stuff to make people not hate him
itsC0ll0n but why does he care that much about how the public perceives skrelli, he released the albums as a middle finger to the industry but by doing so alienated and discriminated against everyone except the mad rich fans and also kept their music on all streaming services so they’re clearing not even as bothered as Taylor swift about this.
I'm actually shocked Joe didn't even entertain the possibility of having Martin on, that would have been such a great podcast, pretty much every interview I've seen with Martin shows that he is not what people initially thought he was. The whole controversy was so misunderstood it's crazy.
mje19D .... I know what you mean. One of the worse is Neil Degrasse Tyson. He does it everywhere he goes. I love the dude, but damn is Tyson all about himself. Running over people in conversations
@@SlickBlackCadillac he is not misunderstood he is clearly a narcissist but unfortunately like 20% of the population(including you) are susceptible to being manipulated by those type of people.
@@kevyntav please point out where I said he wasn't a narcissist. Since you make assumptions I'll make some too. Go ahead and side with Big Pharma on the topic of Martin Shkreli. I'm sure you're vaxxed too.
I wish Joe had the full story and understanding of Martin. He definitely comes off as snarky and cocky, but he isnt evil like media makes him out to be.
The album doesn’t exist. You see how much Rza squirmed and stammered whenever Joe mentioned buying it. Then Donnell even says; “there may be no songs on it”. At which point Rza agrees! 😂
Allegedly 100 hrs worth of material, with all clan members so maybe unreleased odb stuff, from the people that say they heard it, heaps better than a better tomorrow, but not worth the million or two in hype. Like a 3.5 to a 4 on sputnik hopefully lmao
RZA is just looking for a way to buy it back and make more money. He doesnt want anyone else to get their hands on it til then. He probably mad about giving up some of the proceeds to charity which he did as a pr stunt after people found out who bought the album. Dude tried to buy the album when Shkreli put it up on eBay but legally couldn't buy it.
Goldie TheMack that’s crazy yo I thought he gladly sold it to help put a deposit on his new show but that makes sense but fuck RZA the snake they didn’t even ask if odb was on that shit
@༒ lol no that would make him a billionaire i don't think you know how net worth works. Joe at most makes 10 million a year and I might be stretching it.
There are more than a couple things that give Shkreli a bad name, (his attitude, the securities fraud, Wu-Tang controversy, etc.) but he's actually a really interesting person to get a perspective from. Not only is he highly intelligent with an interesting background, with Daraprim he genuinely was trying to do something good but he got painted out to be a bad guy.
@Leland Matt no he's stilla prick and got what he deserved, he was addicted to attention and fame and trolled his way into federal lockup for a decade.
We pay those insurance companies through our taxes genius. And he created a monopoly. And he’s an idiot. Have you not seen his “evil villain” threat video against ghost face killah? Cringy as hell
@@melissadelgado1051 I can't remember if aids was covered when I sold critical illness insurance. Pretty sure it was. I get your point, but premiums won't be increased for customers as barely anyone even has aids.
He also took 90% of the profits and reinvested it back into development of better more improved products. He was railroaded for not playing nice in the sandbox with the government and other big Pharma companies. He was a threat and they knew it
yep insurance companies got him locked up before it became normal. the guys back out now and streams live on youtube and you can asked him anything you want when he is online and he will answer thats pretty cool for a person who is so smart on stocks and bio tech companies. ive seen loads of young people even get advise on what to study and what to best do to get into the bio tech industry
I met Donnell Rawlings one time in Charlotte, NC and he was a very bright, funny dude. I like the positive lessons and positive energy that emanate from RZA often. Hope I am still alive the day the world finally gets to hear that unreleased Wu Tang album!
Rza didn’t even produce it. It was an outside producer who had each member record under the assumption it would be for various different projects. Then he put it together and brought it to the Rza to sell
Martin Shkreli did want to release the album. There was a weird clause in the contract he signed that said that after winning the album in the auction he wouldn't be allowed to release it to the public until like 100 years after the auction ended, though. He even kept playing some tracks on his RU-vid livestreams and would get legal threats because of the contract he was in mid-stream. There's a compilation vid where people tried to stitch together some of the music he played during the streams, and it's about 30 mins worth of music which ain't much but at least we have it.
If any of it got out from anyone except Skreli, they’d be contractually obligated to pay him the money back. And let’s face it, it probably wasn’t no 36 chambers. Probably unused b-sides.
Yeah Rza f'd it up by selling it to Pharma Bro in the first place. He'd been better off selling it to Clive Davis Tommy Mottola or Jimmy Iovine. Rza started this Art thing let them covet Wu Tang. That box will be lost in Nardia before anyone hear it. That's what greed gets you. Damn it no new ODB for us today.
#Free Shkreli. Our boy will be hitting the streets in not too long. We all gotta get together and throw a baller ass party for him. One Love and much love to Joe Rogan
sw toni so he bought the rights to a prescription medicine that was FDA approved. When it’s FDA approved, insurance companies have to pay for that medication. By jacking up the price so much, he was able to profit it and give the medication out for free, u just have to request it from them and they will give it to you no questions asked. Insurance companies have no other choice but to pay full price. So no one got screwed, only the insurance companies. They’re by far one of the biggest scams. U get sick, they’ll find a way for them to not pay for ur coverage
You gotta blend in the jungle. I know when you speak to a cop your dialect changes from "yo fuck dat vato ese" to "Hello officer, this is my registered domicile."
Darnell is absolutely right, if you release it, it becomes just another mixtape that was given away for free. People don’t respect what they don’t earn, or pay for.
you should be a professional "youtube Titel maker". seem like you have the clickbait tone down to a science. matt j: i went to college and this character/theory makes a lot of sense now! rest of the world: ...AND?!?!?
I got the sense they find their own Shkreli album crap. Them being hesitant when Joe throws the option of buying and releasing the album, and saying it's more worth without the critcs.
MrMojoPictures well, like they said, Martin doesn’t have it cause the government seized his assets. So they can’t really buy it from him right now, they’re squirming cause they don’t wanna call joe retarded for literally being told as much and still proceeding to say “well I’d buy it off him, is there any way I could buy it from him” no joe that’s what it means to have your assets seized, you don’t get control over them anymore but he just wouldn’t listen
Captain kiwi I mean joe probably doesn’t know how that works. Like myself I’m ignorant to what takes place before and after assets are seized. Do they sell them eventually? Give them to family? Does he get them back when he gets out?
@@damoncarrawell2906 after all appeals go through and the case is exhausted (no chance of thre asset forfeiture being reversed in favor of the defendant) then the government auctions off everything in various liquidation auctions. Depending on the asset though, sometimes the government keeps things and repurposes them for government use (using seized cars for undercover cars, boats for sting operations, etc etc). More than likely though, it'll end up in a government auction at some point and liquidated for cash to go back into the government funds. Sometimes they'll donate assets to other companies or nonprofits too, in order for the nonprofit or whatever to auction off themselves. In short: the government basically does whatever they want to with it. But, it usually ends up being liquidated at auction for cash.
Shane Daniel for sure I listened to it when shrekeli streamed it but it was a garbage quality audio stream It seems kinda dumb they didn’t just release it to the public They kinda fucked over their fans on this one
You should have had him on, Joe. You still should. He has a lot to say that can really shine a light on the pharmaceutical industry. It's not what you think.
Shkrelli IS interesting. And he would have been a great guest on the podcast. Whether he’s truthful or not, who knows. But he does have an interesting perspective.
When it comes to Martin skreli alot of people over look the reason he was doing that with the price. If patients in need needed the meds they could contact his company directly and get what they need for the normal price. This wasn't spoken about. The whole point was to start a conversation about the medical industry
