When I was 15 my pastor died of cancer, as we all prayed and had hope with him. That was the end of my faith at the time. A different sort of pain, but one that exposed my faith for the thin veil that it was. Yet years later, I realized that life is full of thin veils of half truths and dark secrets, and having faith in such a world is of utmost importance. A vital positive outlook through faith.

Great Job, Séan Of Seeking Help Must Of Been Hard But You Were Stronger One To Do So. Congratulation On Your Six Year Of Sobriety. Everyone Needs A Chance In Getting Away From This Devil Call Liquor (Booose). A Lot Of People Drink To Be Able To Get Away From The Truth That Should Be Reported. No One Should Go Through Something Like This Alone, But As You Know It Is Hard To Trust People After This Type Of Act. Again Congratulations On Your Six Years Of Sobriety.

This song has been really important to my sobriety as I am starting my second year. My clean date is 24 October 2016, and I just celebrated a year the day after my 30th birthday. I'll have 18 months in a few weeks. You truly sing my life as a fellow sober musician and I admire your strength. I am also a (transgender) male and ass-kicking fighter of rape and abuse. I've seen abuse as both a female-presenting person and as the man I am today. What I've learned is that, as a man, I'm not taken as seriously as I was when I was presenting as a woman. But the similarities are glaring... especially being asked "What were you wearing?" both times I spoke up about being raped. Or being told that I somehow "deserved" what has happened to my body. I also hate the identifiers "victim" and "survivor"... Those terms imply that I am someone in *relation* to my abuser. They take away my autonomy and my personhood and leave me as a shell -- the object of someone's horrible actions. I prefer to identify as an "ass-kicking fighter" because I am living through the challenges of rebuilding after trauma. I am not an object and I've not survived a damn thing. I'm certainly not just a person who's diminished by the actions of anyone. I am a human being and my abusers don't deserve any power over me or any credit for who or where I am. This song has been getting me through the past few months waiting to give my statement to the Judge who will sentence my abuser. The only thing my abuser has ever earned is to face Lady Justice's Sword of Truth. I refuse to keep letting him define me and I know that most of us living through don't get this far in holding our abusers accountable for their actions. Your words have given me so much hope to never stop fighting. I've wanted to stop every single day. When I first heard this song a few months ago, I found myself screaming uncontrollably. But after I heard it, I was inspired by the hope in it to finish writing my impact statement to read to the Judge. I feel nothing but gratitude for your words and willingness to live through. Thank you, and keep staying strong. You are a human being who's living through and coming out of hell stronger. Abusers don't deserved that power over us or an ounce of credit. Keep fighting!
