Remember when country was country. When everything did not need a beat. When lyrics came from the soul. Way down deep. When a life of sorrow and happiness made a song. Not a life of a "thug" pot and drugs. Remember when talent made a good life for someone. When a simple guitar tune and a voice of gold made a man happy and out of the cold. Now I see homeless men with more talent then the ones standing on the stage. Isn't this a sad world, when talent is hiding in the shade.

Oh, man! Doug Seegers is amazing!! What a voice and what a songwriter! This song will be ringing in my head all day. Will someone please offer this guy a recording contract? His unique voice and style will hit the charts and fill music libraries in no time. I will watch to see if his recordings come on the market. Wow!

My god! This is pure from the heart and soul song.., from a guy who lived it. I would put songs like this up against that tinsel phoney crap music they churn out today by far too many who's worse day was discovery of a pimple, wardrobe malfunction or someone yelled at em for littering.

It's a pretty sad commentary on the state of the American music scene that the greatest new country and western singer of the past thirty years had to be discovered by a couple of Swedish tourists AFTER Nashville decided to chew him up and spit him out.

Jill's recording company is planning on taking Doug on a concert tour in Sweden this summer (of 2014). I've listened to Doug singing this song soo many times, I love it. I was pointed to this, from some forum or other yesterday morning. I quickly wrote down the lyrics and changes, took it to my club band rehearsal and we are to perform it tonight. Obviously Mr Seegers will be credited.

another proof that pop music has gone to the s*ithole and that listening to it is a waste of time...this guy has a voice that does not need effects to sound good and special but in the meantime his success is blocked by somebody who needs 5 people to write a song with 10 words and 10 professionals to edit songs to be listenable to a small degree... I am sorry for my bitterness but I just can't stand pop in the last 15 years or so...it is just so -------- empty...

This is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard in my life, it gets to my core from the very first note. Thank you Mr. Seegers and Jill & Magnus for delivering this great talent to rest of the world. I would have loved to seen Stevie Ray's version.

Nice stuff, and I admire Doug's dogged devotion to his talent, but I don't think other lead singers were needed. The teeny bit of gospel harmony was nice, but other singers superfluously tacking themselves to this pretty little lament reeks of commercialism. If you guys are worthy, write your own material. Just a personal point of view.
