S&B Filters Air Intake - 100 Mile Review

I went with Banks on my 17 HC 6.2L just because of looks. Had S&B before on a different truck and had no issues. It's just I wanted to try something different. Cheers

Your spot on with the warmer air into the motor with the other brands. I bought the K & N for my 2018 2500 6.0. I use HP tuners and have tuned many vehicles over the years, from street to race. I have been monitoring intake temperature with the intake I have now , even on a cool 47° day, as I'm cruising down the road with the one that I have now, the air will be that 47°going into the motor. Once I stop it only takes seconds for it to quickly rise as high as 90° or above. Now at 90° the factory tune starts pulling out timing. Gets really aggressive at pulling timing at 120° . Which I'm sure is more than possible in the summer. So you're basically robbing your own power right off the line with a "cold air intake". I haven't had the chance to run it in the summer yet. Unfortunately when I pulled the trigger , SMB was out of stock of these due to the virus everywhere. They're just starting to get back in stock and I'm going to order one. Thanks for sharing your video . I thought I'd sure my input as well.

My S&B intake on my Tacoma at 3500 rpm’s wines like supercharger an I’m in love with it I also just cut my exhaust off so my truck is louder but even after that if I try to listen to it I can still here it but it’s more of a whistle of a small turbo now but if my truck was quite again you can here it very clear I hade a buddie question if it was a turbo an I told him no just a big asf cold air intake

I know S&B is a true CAI but the Rough Country and K&N gave me exact same mpg on truck and 1/2 the price i can careless about the noise from them but the mpg was the same all 3 2017 silverado 5.3

Do you feel a catch can is necessary with this setup? If so do they make one that will work with this setup?

I waited the whole time for this guy to actually punch it 100% and go past 3000RPM, what a shame.

There's a lot of other manufacturers that make enclosed air boxes.

I installed this s & b intake on my 2016 Sierra. Have you had any "grumbling or groaning" at certain rpm's or throttle inputs? Most of the time its great, but occasionally I get the grumble and was curious if you have had any similar symptoms.

Probably putting one on a 2013 Denali with the 6.2l should be sweet but it ain’t cheap.

What no one talks about is the ability of these filters to do the job of filtering.There are air filter comparison videos that show that high flow filters do a terrible job of filtering contaminants compared to regular filters. Why spend all that money buying your truck just to run poor filters on your engine, all for 2hp and some noise.

Got one on my Tundra I bought, love it but wanted to change to the blue oil, don't do it because it'll never be blue, blue and you can't get one in blue or even a non oiled one.... Don't understand why but stick with the red or youll end up with a brownish, gray filter. Got a blue dust cover (custom made) so it doesn't matter to me. Jus my 2 cent

I really like this intake but does it stay clean inside or look all dirty after awhile?

My air intake gets wet and muddy on the bottom side. Is there anyway to avoid that from happening?

Does the S&B come with stickers like K&N that states it won't void warranty?

If i get the air intake and add a throttle spacer will the box still fit in place?

How does it sound when the truck goes into v4 mode???

Put this in a few days ago on my silverado. One thing, I get a flutter sound when I'm just on the throttle a bit sometimes, or when in a higher gear and I hit the gas will flutter. Kida sounds like a semi engine breaking coming down a hill a bit. Other times sounds great. I'm going to put the bottom plug in and see if fixes it, wondering if its creating an echo or something

Did you have a check engine light come afterwards, I have a 2014 same model but light came on mass air flow problem?

Hey I've been doing some more research and engine component wear from high flow filters is a thing. You have people coming to your channel to educate themselves on products. A more complete video would have included the adverse effects of the intake systems as well. I'm sure someone with a 70000 dollar truck may not want their engine burning oil in 5yrs.

I just ordered one for my 17 silverado. Did you have to get a tune? I'm reading mixed opinions on it even tho s&b state that there systems are designed to work.with the stock setup.

I can't justify $400 bucks just for a sound difference. CAI does nothing for a gas engine unless you have a super charger or turbo...If you don't have either of those there is no power difference what so ever, it is just the sound that make you think you have more power
