For those who don't know, in pool, when one player pockets the cue ball, their turn ends and the other player's turn begins. This is called a scratch. So it only makes sense that when the beta Sburb players initiate the Scratch, ending their universes in favour of that of the alpha kids and cherubs' universes, Doc Scratch, who represents the cue ball, is replaced by a new entity, being Lord English. Additionally, Doc Scratch constantly eludes to how great of a host he is throughout his takeover of the narrative. In this flash, Lord English manifests out of him - in other words, he hosted Lord English, so in the end, he stayed true to his word, even upon death.
On top of that, the cue ball is what you hit to set all the other balls into motion, before finally using it to pocket the 8-Ball; Doc Scratch is supposed to get everything ready until he finally takes the 8 ball and initiates it's entrance.
to showcase the power of lord english, in his very first appearance he reaches through the fourth wall and violently murders every epileptic reading the comic
I love how only in Homestuck could there be a ten second cutaway to the scary wolf head from Never Ending Story, and it's still one of the most foreboding and suspenseful flashes in the story.
To be fair the wolf (named Gmork) is actually thematically fitting. In The Neverending Story, Gmork is a servant of The Nothing, a mysterious and dark parasite, with the sole intention of running the magical universe of Fantastica into extinction by consuming its very existence. Sounds very similar to Doc Scratch and his servitude to Lord English, right?
something i just realized: Doc originally used a coat, which he took off one last time before finally "turning" into English. Calliope ALSO had a coat, which she took off one last time before Caliborn predominated. Coincidence? Absolutely not. Nothing in Homestuck is a coincidence.
Calilope also has the gun Doc Scratch gives to Slick to end Snowman and kill the Troll's Universe so Lord English can eat it. Caliborn loves stealing his sister's things so he can hurt the characters she loves.
when you realize that the only reason lord english could come is because hussie inserted himself into canonical events and killed doc scratch, thus allowing ds to continue being an excellent host for lord english: "...god damn it, hussie."
@@Fragmentsinfractals488 As was already stated in comics itself, "Lord English can travel through time, he already exists within the universe and therefore the program itself is essentially just a formality." Realistically, it's all a coincidental contrivance and contrived coincidence at the same time, just like the most of this series until retcon arc.
@@mahpell7173 And all those coincidences are caused by the Juju, Cal, Doc Scratch, and the deal Caliborn made with Yaldabaoth. Jujus (Singularities) are like that.
Because Hussie and Doc Scratch/Lord English are Dual pieces of the Author. Hussie calls Doc Scratch his Anti-Author. So, Character Hussie and Doc Scratch/Lord English have Author power.
+Dream Extracter Hell yes. I also think most humans react to hearing something backwards. Our brain can recognize that something is off for some reason and we don't like it. I'm not usually scared of skeletons either, but that "honk" Claiborn does while his jaw unhinges because he's opening it too wide is just really freaking disturbing. Oh, not to mention his twitchy glitching movements. Those don't help quell the fear factor.
Now that the comic has ended, i think its also hilarious how English is terrifying, but in reality is just SPOILERS: a bunch of silly teenagers smushed together. Is LE a personification of fighting the transition into adulthood??
not really. He is the "fusion" of caliborn, gamzee, equius and dirk. and there's not bullshit "he's a good guy" or "he's a analogue for this". He's the bad guy. done.
That moment you realize, that all that blood separation on Alterna, the game of Hivebent and Sburb, the whole reason all those trolls died, and the Earth was created and destroyed, the whole reason trolls are violent and the reason for all this death, is all Doc Scratch's fault.
I remember when I used to think by scratch, it meant scratching a disk. But it honestly makes so much more sense in regards to pool since you reset the position of the ball before you continue playing.
This transformation always gives me chills, and makes me scared as shit. The eery backwards piano theme, plus the honking, and just English coming out of Scratch is so amazing and awesome. It’s terrifying, don’t get me wrong. But it’s such a good feeling if evil and scary-ness inside.
jack's was more of a 'ooo im a villain and youre going to die', english's entrance is fucking terrifying because no one knows that shit just got real and everything's fucked
@@ReddyRAD Lord English did nothing expect appear in two flashes and kill dead people jack killed the entire cast at least once who is more menacing?
This is like 1/986th of the whole fucking pie man. Don't worry nothing to important is happening here. Just never click on anything called cascade or it will all be ruined.
@@lunaitor-uq9hz and then close itself well jack noir was there again ? No. What happened was light was so bright it passed through the walls (as stupid as that sounds). Then again it not dumbest thing in homestuck.
My favorite part of any flash is when the reverse melody plays and we see the pool balls surround alternia at the end. this will never not give me chills
Since I've read the comic some years ago, this have become one of my favorite flashes, bc in retrospective all makes so fucking sense.. . . . . . . . . . . the VAST HONK above all
Damn, I guess I should have though about this when i said "I am gonna redraw every single Homestuck animation, in my own style!"....I underestimated how much scenes i had to draw...
when I first listened to this I was in the school library with my headphones on and when the honks came I literally stopped breathing and started to shake so bad in my seat and everyone was looking at me like 'are you okay' and I couldn't answer them cos how do you explain to normal people that you swear up and down you've heard the voice of a demon? still chills me right down to the bone even nos
@@StellaStarfall it was a prince of heart though, trying to destroy his soul, dirk also tried it on caliborn before he became lord english and it didn't work.
+milo goodfellow I'm pretty sure Doc Scratch set it up. He made a big deal about how he did everything to ensure his master would be summoned into his universe.
Doc Scratch is Lord English's "excellent host." He contains Lord English inside of him, but only transforms into him once the conditions to summon lord English using the ~ATH code have been met. One of those conditions is Scratch's own death, while another is the death of the human and troll universes, and the creation of the green sun, all of which were caused by a mixture of Hussie, Bec Noir, the death of Snowman, and the detonation of the tumor.
As for the description... "YOU'RE Lord English, HE'S Lord English, HE'S Lord English, I'M Lord English! Are there any other LORD ENGLISHES I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?!"
I literally felt cold and almost wept in fear the second I heard him make that noise for the first time--and then I nearly shit myself when I realized that demonic roar is actually the sound of a bike horn.
My reaction was a mix between surprise and horror. Dear lord, I only saw this yesterday, and hooooly crap. I had known about [S] Cascade for a long time, but I was NOT prepared for this.
i remembered watching this, then switching to a new tab to check my mail after i finished watching it. the intermission music began playing on its own again. i was like "AAAHHH IT'S EVIL!!! //closes browser hides under covers"
I have a feeling Lord English is related to the First guardians. Doc Scratch is Omnicogescent, he knows everything, Bec is Omnipotent i.e all powerful and Lord English is Omnipresent because no matter what HE'S ALREADY THERE.
he was alrerady everywhere at the same time because he is already here while already being there and already being then so you see, he is already everywhere.
Those are almost my exact words every freaking time I figure out a new connection somewhere. I have literally found myself repeatedly finding out something just to literally say, "Stop. Just... stop. Stop making things do this." I think I figure it out, but every... single... time...
