I'm still a little surprised no one's talking about how Dirk was the one to kill the Hegemonic Brute. I mean, the title of Prince of Heart was taken to a pretty literal level there.
A bit of subtle brilliance in this flash: Though it initially seems ridiculous that this robot is on 'novice' mode, when you consider the incredible feats of strength and speed the bro-bot occasionally displays, it IS going quite easy on Jake. Notice that the bro-bot stands passively and waits for Jake to attack for the first minute or so of the fight, only moving to defend itself. When it does launch a flurry of attacks, the bro-bot mostly just knocks Jake around and drops him off atop the tower almost gently. Of course, as the fight goes on the bot gets more aggressive, but the robot still pauses and lets Jake get in a counter-attack occasionally instead of hitting him while he's down. Also note that the bro-bot never used the sword directly against Jake, not even the blunt side, and only rarely used its jet engines.
dark7element Also note the incredible feats Dirk is capable of, and you realize that a robot of himself would be even MORE powerful, and it's quite clear that, as enemom so eloquently put, "Jake sucks."

Prince is the destroyer class. Eridan is the prince of hope, and he destroys the matriorb. Dirk is the destroyer of heart, which makes sense, because he can rip peoples’ souls out of their bodies. However... Dammit Hussie.
I know Dirk is pretty awesome, but no respect for DD? He's just totally calm, cool, and above it all while Dirk is on the loose, and everyone is freaking out.

Dirk and all of Dirk's creations have the most anime fighting style in the whole comic. The 'knock you around and teleport' combo in this flash was straight out of Dragon Ball lol
Just noticed how the waves of Dersites parted respectfully to let the Draconian Dignitary pass. And since the Dignitary is second in command to Jack, it makes you realize that (despite his begrudged clerical duties and being made to wear stupid outfits by the Queen) our boy Jack has some serious ranking on Derse!
Just realized while watching this, Dirk is doing to Jake what Bro did to Dave. His abusive nature was very much already here even before the Epilogues, was just kinda obfuscated by the comedy in the same way Bro’s was before Dave acknowledged it, thus making it more clear in hindsight.
Actually, that's the thing. Brobot is another splinter of Dirk. All of his splinters (brain ghost dirk, Brobot, bro, AR etc) all have faults. Ultimate Dirk is such a dick because he absorbs all these splinters.
this flash is just full of nonchalant dudes with sharp iconography in dangerous situations. dirk takes his counter-assassination pretty well and just decides to admit he's been awake the whole time, the brobot just curbstomps jake over and over, and dd just walks up to hb's decapitated head on a pike, and just reads the note while everyone surrounding him is either panicking or a head on a pike.
The animation in this flash was so perfect. Just. Perfect. My eyes were leaking after the first 3 seconds. And now I'll hear Time on My Side as Dirk's theme. Forever
I think what I like most about rewatching these on a second read-through is knowing the leitmotifs well enough now to catch them, like Beatdown and Black.
i personally found the erisolsprite-jake conversation to be one of the funniest things i've ever read erisolsprite to me represents self-loathing taken to a degree that is literally beyond human comprehension for some reason that's extremely funny to me? he's the combination of someone who adheres to rigidified mindsets concerning impending suffering, WITH someone who uses the power of hope and belief to destroy everything around him for some reason i find that extremely hilarious (continued)

In [S] Prince of Heart: Rise Up, Brobot is seen strifing with Jake - and I couldn’t get a screenshot of this, but he hits Jake in the head multiple times, once going so far as to lift him upside down by his torso and throw him at the ground head first. At another point, Jake ends up having rocks dropped on his head, effectively knocking him out and properly introducing him to Aranea. I’m sure he could’ve suffered more head injuries throughout the game now that they’re in it, too.
tbh i always thought it made sense, given the main motif from Beatdown was basically always heard when bro was kicking the shit out of Dave, unlike with the other guardian strife songs that seemed more evenly matched and started the main tune relatively quick. If anything, Dave's own motif from the early comic is probably Upward Movement and not Beatdown. eg in Descend, the song starts on Upward Movement mixed with Sburban Jungle because it's Dave struggling to enter the Medium, but the instant Beatdown kicks in, it zooms in to Bro slicing the meteor.

Just so we can confirm how badass Dirk is, he kills an assassin for him, Flies out in the open of Derse holding the assassin's decapitated head, Reveals himself to everyone in Derse while holding the head, Grabs their flag, Cuts their flag, Impales the head through the flagpole in the middle of the crowd, And gives them the message; "The Prince is Awake. Your shit is wrecked."
