The S.C.A.M. retrievable redirect was created by FreeFallin @FreeFallinTrees He has a RU-vid channel where you can see his videos!
Episode about SCAM Mechanical Advantage for Limb Walks:
• LIMB WALKS with MECHAN...
In this episode, I will discuss and demonstrate the S.C.A.M. (Single Carabiner Access Method) retrievable redirect, which only involves your rope and a pulley-biner (such as the Roll Clip Z by Petzel or the Revolver Rig by DMM; I demonstrate using the latter). A regular pulley with a separate carabiner can also be used instead.
In the video, the part of the tree I'm in is relatively shaded and it was difficult to see exactly what I was doing. Therefore, I added a series of photos which better articulate each step in the process for this redirect in the middle of the video.
Following this more detailed demo of each aspect of the tying process, I rappel down to the ground on the theoretical 3:1 system. The friction in the system actually made it difficult for me to rappel without pumping the bird on my Rope Runner Pro, so the action was very jumpy. Not really a huge deal, though. I never felt out of control.
Retrieving this system is super easy and very straightforward. It works every time so long as you don't lock the pulley-biner down too hard with too tight of a loop at the start of the tying process for this redirect. Create and maintain a loop that extends down about 8-12" from the limb or spar you are redirecting off of.
Please consider subscribing, hit that "like" button if you enjoyed my video, and send me a private email if you have any tree climbing or knot related enquiries at knotorious.contact@gmail.com There are no stupid questions!
Anyone looking to sponsor myself and my channel, anyone interested in having rope, friction cord/hitch cords, gear, equipment, PPE, etc. tested and for an honest review, again, please reach out to me at knotorious.contact@gmail.com I look forward to speaking with you!

YES, I shake A LOT! I have a vitamin deficiency that I'm working to resolve, so PLEASE DO NOT comment on my shaking or make comments like "do another line!" Thanks! Enjoy! =-D

Hey bro, pretty cool. I enjoyed it. Don't worry about the intro too much. Do what you enjoy most. Hey you should try to go from one tree to another. How cool would that be

I shake a whole lot worse. It's a mega pain to me, genetic, from Nana to mother to son. Just livee with it...

@@j-jlevy Hey JJ, thanks for the nice comment! I'm not too concerned about the intro; I honestly love it. But I have to listen to my viewers to some extent! I actually have plans to demonstrate how to create a Tyrolean traverse between two trees once I move back to MA and have much better trees to work with! Thanks for commenting!

@@daveoseas My shaking honestly doesn't really bother me and I never really notice it until I'm editing the footage for my videos. The only reason I even mention it is because, if I don't, trolls come out of the woodwork to make stupid comments. Thanks for relating to me!

Hhmm very interesting mate ive been trying different SRT redirects but most of the time i just throw the entire rope over a limb, but that makes retrieving the rope difficult. Ill need to try this method awesome video

Drop or shorten the introduction
@Knot-orious
@Knot-orious 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, someone else said that as well! Damn. I'm experimenting with new editing techniques and I sort of thought people would like the new intro, but I get that it eats up the viewer's time. Now I know not to continue making 30 second long intros. Oh well, I tried! Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it!

I like getting straight to message so would cut the intro by... 90%. But thats just me.

I climb mostly MRS, any good retrievable methods?
@Knot-orious
@Knot-orious 6 месяцев назад
I honesly don't climb MRS very often, so i have very few video on that style of climbing currently published to my channel. HOWEVER, stick around because I have a demo for a static and retrievable redirects currently scheduled to be published in the next few weeks and the second will be about a month or so away. Thanks for commenting.

Here is a good method for retrievable MRS system! I highly recommend doing a wrap around the tree with your sling so that the slig doesn't move. One of your climbing strands will always exert more tension than the other, so when you climb without the wrap on this redirect, it slips and slides an often will displace entirely...UNLESS you're on abrasive bark. All you need is a sling, a pulley and a carabiner! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nnSuYWX3L7Y.html
