In this month's episode of foxing with 260 RIPS (Mark Ripley), you can join Mark from dawn 'til dusk as he heads out hunting foxes. First off Marks out early after a fox in the lambing field and finds a fox has set up an earth worryingly close by and is taking lambs. The problems don't stop there, and Mark is soon called to another farm where again he is dealing with more than one fox making the most of the free supply of ducks on the nearby pond - all in this episode of Shooting & Country TV!

Production is incredible on this channel. Mark, great to see you in action. It's good to know that when the world is going bonkers, Rips in still in the hills of UK slaying pesky foxes before the sun rises. Thank you so much, Mark for sharing your adventures over the years. Always a class act.

A lot of work went into putting that video together and it shows. More like your old-school stuff that, and a thoroughly enjoyable watch. If you keep that up I won't need to go out onto the moors myself to get my shooting fix... I'll just don my jacket and boots and sit in by the fire with the rifles safely tucked up in the cabinet. 🤣

As always Mark, another excellent video especially the dawn chorus which I miss. When I used to shoot it was never at night but I was sometimes on the land at 4am in the summer. I had two neighbouring farms, a 660 acre sheep farm and a 200 acre arable farm. The land is in East Sussex and is very similar to the land you shoot on. I aslo had a 55 acre farm which has recently been built on. Unfortunately age and bad health caught up with me so I no longer go shooting. Geoff.

Sorry to hear you can no longer get out Geoff, it sounds as though you may well be my neck of the woods, where did you used to shoot? I hope my videos can at least give you some enjoyment, I think the next best thing to getting out shooting is watching videos on it! All the best Mark

Good result, you did well on the two with the alpex, what a horrible grainy image that is.
@ShootingCountryTV

It looks bad on the big screen as it goes very pixilated when increased to that size, through the scope it actually looks pretty sharp 👍

Hey mark!! Love the content really addicted to your videos for years now! I’m getting an alpex lrf but I can’t decide on a .223 brand to go with (possibly a tikka t3x) would love some advise on some of your experiences! Keep up the brilliant content 🤝
@stephenoshea1166
@stephenoshea1166 3 месяца назад
Know I'm not Mark but the tikka is a good choice. I've got a t3x lite in 223, 1-12 barrel, loves Norma tipstrike 55gr, and is extremely effective on fox, but will shoot most things of that weight well. Mark has had one previously, (see older 260 rips videos) may still have it. Only thing I would ding the tikka on is the safety, it's in a good place and works nicely but to unload a live round, ( say you've finished for the night) you have to flick safely to "fire" to pull the bolt back. ) I've also got a bergara b14 in 243, a good accurate rifle also, safety is a bit stiffer but you leave it" safe" to unload which I like. Both are similar, tikka more expensive but slightly more refined, happy with both.
@ShootingCountryTV

Tikka would be my recommendation hands down 😉👍

@@stephenoshea1166 absolutely brilliant to hear!! Open to opinions from any experiences and by the sounds of it tikka seems to be getting great reviews! So many options nowadays it’s getting hard to choose!! Really appreciate it Stephen

@@markdaly2426 No probs, I think to be fair most modern rifles are going to be quite accurate even the cheaper offerings such as Ruger Americans and others in that price range but generally as you spend more you get crisper triggers, smoother bolt actions and detachable magazines etc.

I've been shooting xm50 thermal for awhile now I am tempted by the alpex 4k lrf.... It looks tip top with quality and feature...lrf, ballistics...from what I've seen...it looks like it would be hard to suggest improvements... Pleasure to watch your fox films and hear the commentary on range and equipment..(kit)... Thanks again .

After Seeing the image quality through that scope I don't think I'll ever part with my Drone Pro.....nice shot though 😉
@ShootingCountryTV
@ShootingCountryTV 3 месяца назад
The difference is with the Alpex that shot was on 24x mag where it pixilates a fair bit, on 14 x it’s comparable and bare in mind the drone prone is 10x (or 15x depending on model) and cost twice as much, also doesn’t have lrf, ballistics or recording facility so there’s a lot to factor in 😉

Mark, Can you move the range finder square on the 4k ? as its right next to my cross hairs ?
@260rips
@260rips 3 месяца назад
That’s probably an ideal place! Mine is above it and you can’t see it as you zoom further in! You can’t move it but you can shim the scope if you wish which would effectively move it in relation to the point you are zeroed at 👍

How are you finding the alpex mark? I had one briefly,was a good unit but something happened to it internally as it lost zero twice in a week after a software update. It’s away back to hik at the moment so hopefully they figure out the problem.
@260rips
@260rips 3 месяца назад
Yes I’m liking it, it’s a good bit of kit especially at its price tag! Only thing that would make it better for foxing would be a higher optical base mag so it wasn’t as pixilated on max zoom 👍

I need to tweak the ballistics a fraction, as yet I’ve not bothered but it shoots a tiny bit higher than the suggested hold 👍

Fantastic shooting, only negative is the camera showing the target is of rather poor resolution. Maybe check in with Matt Dubber of AirArmsHuntingSA to see what he uses, I think he may also be a principal of Element Optics...
@ShootingCountryTV
@ShootingCountryTV 28 дней назад
Thank you! If you mean during the target shooting, this is because it’s using a high zoom camera and filmed from the firing point. The foxing footage is filmed in low light using footage taken through the HikMicro Alpex night/day scope not an Element scope, the Alpex is a digital scope and naturally pixilates in low light colour mode on high magnification 👍
