S.H. Figuarts FRIEZA First Form & Pod Dragon Ball Z Action Figure Review 

There was something about them going to toriyama to get the sculpt for the inside of friezas pod and then toriyama also gave them references to change the faces. They apparently changed things that he pointed out so it could be why the faces changed a bit from the prototypes.

Gotta wonder why they haven't done that "butterfly" joint they did on the DBS Broly. That worked so well with him and his armour. Maybe it doesn't work so well with smaller characters like Frieza, but no reason it's not on someone like Ginyu or Burter.

"Death Ball Super Blasty Finger" is definitely what Frieza should have called his attack haha

Don’t have any of the same issues to do with skin tones not matching up and armour alignment either. I think you must have got a poorly handled copy because my ear piece fits in perfect as well

Favourite form and form I would like yo see a figure of: Full power Final form Frieza. Ye know, with the bulky shoulders

I wish the DBZ Figuarts that had tails would use articulation similar to the Monsterarts tails. A lot more poseability that way.

I was mainly interested to see how they did the pod more than the figure, here. If there's a company that can make Frieza's pod a functional accessory, there's no reason we can't get an Eggman figure with an Eggpod.

For me it's a tie between the 2nd fotm and his bulky one. I'd honestly be more excited for a bulky battle damaged one

Third form still is my favorite, so I want me a mecha freeza !! Still eager to get my hands on this release, I was planning to pose it in his pod with the laughing face which looks to be the best face, the eyes issue you correctly raised seems ok with that one.

You’re always complaining about the slightest imperfections. Just be happy you even got your hands on figure with that detail.

I would be happy to have him, although i prefer his final form or even the Golden Frieza. What bugs me is the gap in his backs. Bandai seems to not care about that at all. But, for me, it's much better than Recoome.

Man, I just thought about this recently. I think there are 2 reasons why the figuarts dragon ball line still using ball hinge for their head instead of double ball peg. First is aesthetic reason, sometimes having double ball peg on the head is so annoying to straighten up the head with the neck (this is almost always happens to me with their kamen rider line, because on that line they use double ball peg for the head) plus since they use separate piece for the neck that will make it even more annoying to straighten the head. Second, probably technical or minimizing QC issues purpose. In almost any Japanese or any figure that has double ball peg has this QC problem, either it's too tight to the point till it makes squeaky noise (like my mafex hush batman) or too loose. It's rare too get perfectly tight but not loose situation on those double peg joints.

Does anyone know what the retail for this figure was?

I'd like to see Second form Frieza because I always liked that look and King Cold. His final more slimmed down form has always been my absolute favorite. Sidnote: his head seems a bit too wide for his proportions. He's a small guy and his head was obviously larger, but something about the shaping of it just seems off to me.

I'm forced to agree with most of your critics, not all but most, for some I need to have the item in hand so I can formulate an opinion. Bandai is filled with money to the brim so they tend to throw somethings out that show less... love then others, it may depend on the person working on them. I think that in the end this Frieza will look very good on display but it definitively has some issues. Thanks for the review Anthony. P.S. Frieza or Freeza depending if it is the anime or the manga has 4 forms, five if you cont the golden one so I would like to see the two missing forms, the second and the third. P.S.1. I could dispense with every movie form even though I'm buying that movie final form one they are releasing (It seems a like a good action figure).

Favourite form? I mean, why wouldn't it be his Final Form? But other than that this one is cool. For figure I'd want the most, 100% power. We've got the Super Warrior Awakening Goku, all we need is a Full Power Freeza and we've got the perfect display for that Goku.

The face reminds me of the DBS Broly version whereas the box art is classic Frieza.

Mine had a pretty major QC which required the store to send replacement parts. Also, was going to Toriyama himself really a good idea? Far be it from me for critiquing his art but it has changed for the worse IMO. If anything, the designers at Tamashii nations know how to capture the style of DBZ better then Toriyama at this point.

I wonder if the Dragon Stars head would look good at all on that body. since the DS as a whole is a bit too large, but has a better face sculpt I bet it wouldn't look too bad.

Mecha Frieza.

Idk something abt this figure just seems off. The price point is good I would say but still.. He doesn't look like first form frieza. It might be the metallic finish or the size. But he just seems a bit too plastic like.

They made the purple part of his chestplate to glossy and his eyes kinda looks to close together
