The way SHF forgets randomly how to do baggy pants knees and then they nail stuff like Tanjiro is just bizarre. You can say 'different designers' but stuff like this just looks like they don't even try, making baggy pants on a figure has been done dozens of times before and isn't some deep long lost knowledge, it should be easy Same with Luffy and shorts, its been done countless times and doesn't cost extra money to do the knees properly and they just don't care. Can excuse it if they were cheap but they aren't, they're premium-priced and a decent portion of them just don't have enough time or care put into their designs
@@gloving4hire So how are you supposed to tell them they are doing a good job if you can't even buy the good figures from them? put some more thought into your post next time dude lol..
@@gloving4hireI still like a lot of SHF. I'd say don't preorder them any more though, there's no point trusting them. Wait til release. Unless its like your favourite character who's guaranteed to not get any other figure then hold off and wait for reviews
People kept saying "that's the only way to do baggy pants" but majin bu has decent pants or the new tanjiro is a sweet figure. Algo Bandai has incorporated soft goods into their figures, they could gave us soft pants with Kenshin. I mean, there were options and they went for the worst path.
I agree that the Rurouni Kenshin live action movies were one of the best adaptation made. For the action figure, it looks like a robot from half bottom body down to legs.
The bad figure aside, the 90s anime was near perfection. The pace, the plot, the character development, the sound tract, the fight scene, not to mention there is some historicity to it...just so amazing. It is really too bad they never did the third arc.
@@ChrisM29 Are you referring to the reboot that came out last year? The reboot is rather good. It is more manga accurate, but the sound track and the raw emotion fall short of the original. I think this fall the series will resume with the Kyoto Arc.
It was near perfection for the Kyoto Arc, and even the Shimosuwa Arc that followed with the whole prosecution of Christianity theme was honestly damn good. Everything else was average at best. And I’m saying this as someone who was obsessed with that show, to the point I started reading the manga. Now that was near perfection.
@@ChrisM29 I feel like that reboot falls flat. Yes, the animation is great and it is very true to the manga, but it’s practically a copy-paste job of the manga panels and lacks the impact the original anime had. There are scenes from the original Kyoto arc that I will never forget due to the music or how shots were framed and in the reboot the same scenes are just ok. I truly hope The One Piece won’t suffer the same problems and that remake will put emphasis on the emotions. But with the recent news about it I do feel hopeful that the studio gets it.
@@jarosbodytko6462 What is the One Piece remake you are referring to? There is the 90s animation, there is the 2023 reboot. Is there a third take on the anime?
For the question of the day: I absolutely loved the live action films too. I own the trilogy on bluray and was really impressed by how faithful it was to the anime in both looks and story. I think the figure could've been a lot better as well, the articulation is way too strange and limited but I do think the paints are okay just needed a bit more
So most of the comments are about the pants and I do agree it does not look good, but you cannot compare it to the buu figure and tanjiro since it is a very different baggy pants. Kenshin pants is closely similar to Ichigo which has many folds also called as Hakama and its closer to a skirt. In plastic form I cannot think of any way it looks good especially when you fold the knees . The only and the best way to do it is to used soft goods which Buzzmod Kenshin did.
Great review, Anthony. From what I’ve seen the BUZZmod Kenshin seems to be the better of the two if we’re comparing official releases; but the Dasin Model one is an excellent release if you’re looking for a third party version. That one at least already has a red and blue version plus a Battousai variant too.
Maybe Bandai is upset that Revoltech has shifted to making their figures look a bit more organic. So in order to fill the void, Bandai is making their articulation ugly lol
It's been done well plenty... Even by bandai. But even it it wasn't better before, this certainly shouldn't have been green lit. They're obviously terrible
I agree with you on this one, i think same treatment is applied to ichigo's first release. I was going to collect the bleach line but when I saw it in person it was a major turn off (the baggy pants / leg looks horrible) he just went back to the box. lol.
Thanks for the review of this one. Kenshin is my all time favorite. I also love the live action movies. Just wish I could get really good SA 6” scale figures of this IP. SHF let me down here.
Fully agree with you on everything you mentioned.👀👍Many of which contrast with my own opinion of the figure, and my reasons for not purchasing it. I was stoked when I first saw it👀😁=but amongst closer inspection it became a short-lived response/reaction!!🙄 Sh Figuarts, have a pattern of producing some incredibly great stuff but then producing overly enginared and janky messes.😑😔 And then releasing them again with few to no improvements later on!?🤨So I'm gonna pass and wait this one out!!🤨Never sure if they will or won't improve on a figure down the track though especially nowadays!???😬Plus I love Kenshin, he is one of my top anime characters of all time.😁So the DISSAPOINTMENT is HUGE with this one!!😔
It's wild that they didn't give it their A game on Kenshin, especially when Aoshi and Saito's figures look pretty great in comparison... 'til you look at Aoshi's faces/hair at least.
if i get the chance, id prolly get this just because i need a kenshin thats in a proper scale, but right now, im pretty happy with my Dasin Model kenshin. Full cloth goods and better accessories and faces, and at the time i bought it, its dirt cheap. The only bad thing about it is its out of scale.
Thumbs up for your vid ad the ratings, thumbs down for the fig. I've said this in a different review Dasin Model figs rule when it comes to their accuracy (minus the swords= detail sucks, accuracy not good, etc.) They should make more Dasin model figures for the Rurouni Kenshin series but take points from the katana designs of SH Figuarts
The live-action movies are some of my favorite comic adaptions. My only complaint is Aoshi. Like, he just utterly disappears in the Final. Did he die? Did he get injured? It was so vague. Eh, it gave Misao a really nice bad-ass moment in the film for the climax though (and I'd just assume he sacrificed himself to save those civilians).
The live action movies are so amazing. Part 3 is my second favorite movie of all time. I was hoping that shf might do live action figures like they did with one piece. I think the movies arguably do a better job adapting the dark themes from the source material than the anime. Probably a hot take tho 🤷♂️
Hi Anthony, great review! Honestly I'm one of those that have been waiting for a figure of this character for decades. And yeah, it's soo terrible. Not gonna buy it. In the end I settled for the Dasin Model. And it's good enough. Plus they did a Shishio. And if Bandai did THIS with Kenshin, imagine how are they gonna massacre Shishio... BUT my actual most favorite character is Saito and so far he looks good. I will buy him at least ...
I wanted to get kenshin. But other appealing figurarts being made like Kazuya, Kenpachi, tanjiro, & my most anticipated yusuke are overshadowing it. So oh well.
I'm still watching the video but holy moly, I'm glad I cancelled mine lol The articulation is really ugly, it looks like you are handling a figure of a robot instead of a human being. Like, with Revoltech you can hide most of the joints but this guy has very visible cuts and gaps all over his body, it looks so bad. I kinda wish Bandai stopped getting every anime licence available if they are just going to half-ass them. They really need to pick less lines and fully focus on these.
As much as I love Kenshin and Samurai X, those baggy pants are difficult to deal with… I had a feeling it wouldn’t be great, especially considering how similar it is with the SHF Bleach line…
Have you considered getting and reviewing the Dasin Model Kenshin? He’s a cheaper alternative to this guy and I’ve heard that the cloth goods on that figure makes him easier to handle and pose than the shf.
On mine the torso didn't have much of a gap as yours does. Out the 5 videos i have seen about this figure is that people over here and the west don't like the figure but in the japanese review i have seen they love the figure. Edit: 4 out of the 5 vids were japanese reviewers
No idea why shf keeps getting all the license for these characters, the poor quality and the ridiculous price. There’s a lot other brand that makes better figures even the price is higher but the quality is top notch, seems fair to be honest. I don’t think i’ll ever buy shf again. Too bad just too bad
@@Hitokiri-battousai198I’m glad you enjoy it, but personally it just looks awful in more ways than I can excuse. The legs were always going to be challenging to make look good, but that bicep cut looks atrocious to me.
Totally agreed, I also bought the Buzzmod, but had preordered this as well, when the reviews came, I cancelled my preorder as I think Buzzmod is clearly the better release. There’s no point in having this one if you got the Buzzmod imho.
Imo the legs are a bit better than the bleach figures when i say a bit i mean slightly cause the thigh swivel looks way less ugly than the bleach figures
Sh dragonball e then they released the 2.0 everyone thought they were better only because they could do the front to back kick but in the end the range was nerfed, the crotch look terrible, they got cheaper liking and they fixed some issues with beve sculpt JUST THAT i don’t get the praise, when Bandai starts to over complicate joints their figure sucks and their fans are still thinking that shit doesn’t stink. This figure is atrocious and for me it just gets 4/10
Kenshin's supposed to be pretty dang short.. like shorter than Vegeta. So he is actually a bit tall but unfortunately scale is the least of this figure's problems.. yikes.
Question of the day: Do you forgive Watsuki for his gross crimes? Or do we just separate the art from the artist when it comes to Watsuki and Rurouni Kenshin? 🤔 🤨
A crime would be that he committed the act. He didn't. He was charged with posession of cp. He was judged, condemned and serve the sentence. Who are we to keep judging him?
@@juliocabral6949While I prefer to separate art from artist, Rurouni Kenshin included, that doesn’t change the objective fact that Watsuki DID commit a crime. Just that Japan’s cultural differences dictate that the crime wasn’t too bad to warrant jail time.
Damn, articulated hakama pants are nothing but ugly. And I usually forgive these things if they allow for nice possibility, but this Kenshin and their Bleach figures are too much. Will get either a Buzzmod one, or go 3rd party with Dasin Model
Hi, the annoying humming/ringing sound in the background of the last video is still here in this one. I wish you could figure out what's making the sound and remove it somehow. I'ts pretty uncomfortable and distracting to listen to.
i wish kenshin was done proper justice by a figure company, sad how dasin is the best bet and the guy is like 7 inches tall lmao. still gonna get the shf tbh, its the lesser of two evils, buzzmod too expensive and too shitty
Ouch thats pretty ugly all around except the head and torso. I think they could have made it like goku’s pants from Hip to knee and then flare it out more below the knees. It would work better i think and look less like lego.
