S.H.Figuarts Rurouni Kenshin VS Buzzmod Rurouni Kenshin Comparison Review
Its been a while since Ive done one of these, but its a comparison that Ive been waiting to make for more than 20 years. Which is about how long Ive loved Ruruouni Kenshin, one of my favourite anime of all time. From its original 1996 TV debut, to its most recent 2023 remake and everything in between.
Like I mentioned in my Buzz Mod Kenshin review, Ive always wanted an official 1/12 fully articulated Kenshin figure and after more than 2 decades we finally have 2 official offerings from 2 separate companies.
We have Buzz mode, with its early entry into the new rurouni Kenshin anime series, mixing conventional plastic and cloth goods for a best of both worlds combination. And in the other corner, its SHF figuarts with a more traditional approach, boasting even greater articulation than its rival.
Which figure will come out on top? Well, Ill leave that one up to you, but lets jump into what each company has to offer!

Dude, I was thinking bout switching the upper part of shf to buzzmod coz I prefer the upper part of the shf compare to buzzmod. Was shocked when you actually thought of it too and actually did it on your video, you rock man!

Comparison videos are my favorites. It's a s crucial as knowing how a figure will scale with the rest of my collection. The kit masking was satisfying. The idea emerged as the comparisons continued. Thank you for satisfying my curiosity.

I must say, I have the Dasin Model version in my collection and it might be a little limited on articulation BUT it's so much more esthetic, it just looks gorgeous. If you have the opportunity, go for the Dasin Model instead, no doubt

I highly anticipated this review! Excited for SHF Kenshin and I was glad to see the ball jointed lower legs and the cleaner waist piece. Watching and reading Kenshin now and enjoying it!

Both look good but it just depends on what you like as for me I think I like SHF since I'm not a big fan of cloth goods but that's just me.

The only draw back on shf is the knees. They could have done a simple joint like the other buzzmod and newer yamaguchis. Other than that, its the best IMO.

Thanks so much for the comparison! As I said before, I’m getting both and excited for each, but if these two fused, we’d have an absolutely PERFECT Kenshin figure lol

@@sigerlion8608 I don't want to waste anymore time on this -the Dasin Model Kenshin is less accurate, not in scale with other shonen figures that are usually 1/12, price is $50-80 which is only a little less than SHF for a larger drop in quality, and looks not fun to pose and photograph. That's my opinion, which is why I won't ever be interested in Dasin because I am fortunate enough to afford SHFs instead

I CANNOT stress enough the beauty of katanas in the SH Figuarts versions, in my opinion the Dasin models have good posability but the swords in that line S-U-C-K-S. I for one am looking forward to a SH Figuarts version of Makoto Shishio

Great in-depth review of these figures. Same as you, I have always been a huge RK fan. I've waited so long for a good articulated figure of him that's licensed. The first ever I had was the Revoltech one. Then the Dasin one (which might actually be my fave even though they aren't licensed). I just got my SHF couple of days ago and I do love it. Now I'm wondering if I should get the BuzzMod too, but the price tag just scares the hell out of my wallet.

There is an older one from revoltech too but it uses the older stylizations, kinda boxy and hard edged. Sort of a guilty pleasure

I wish the Bleach figures had that ball joint for the lower legs coming out of the hakama, and also that elbow range. :(

I can't decide between the 2 so I reckon I'll get the SH Figuarts one first and then later get the Buzzmod one. I can't wait for SH Figuart's Saito and Aoshi! I really hope they do Sanosuke Sagara, Misao and especially Kaoru!

Kenshin shouldnt be tall..otherwise the other characters wont scale ...coz most are taller than him...great comparison

The winning combo is definitely the SHF upper and Buzzmod lower. I have the Dasin model Kenshin and while it looks good it's finicky to pose.

SHF head looks better than Buzzmod, but I think the 13 year old Revoltech somehow did better knees. They're not pretty either but at least look better than the huge smooth gap and have better range.

Actually there are official 1/12 figure before this which is Kaiyodo Revoltech both Kenshin and Battosai ver.

I chose the Dasin model Kenshin over these and im just going to mod him to make him a hit shorter the buzzmod is far too expensive for the small amount of accessories it comes with and the SHF is also expensive for the terrible pants desing and the bad ab crunch dasin model not only has more accesories, all cloth, good articulation and is cheaper

I like figuarts more. Not a fan of using a large amount of softgoods or those buzzmod joints. Looks goofy imo

Shf looks great.. kenshin is 5'2... buzzmod is great too but its design is just like the demon slayer. The proportions. The heads if the buzzmod figs looks bigger. The almost perfect kenshin is dasin but the problem is that its really tall😢

I would love to collect the shf Rurouni Kenshin line, but its soo expensive in my country and im focusing in the Chainsaw Man line. I got the Dasin Model Kenshin like 1 month before tamashii announce their Kenshin ☠️☠️

hows the quality of SHF kenshin? like the build quality? is it not like zoro? bec. if yes, then id prolly be happy with my dasin kenshin. it maybe tad big but its scales well with my VAH gintoki.

Ive never seen Kenshin, but damn those pants in the sh figuarts are awful, even star wars black series Ashoka did a better job articulating similar pants.

@@GhostTheOG Oh the Black series Ashoka didn't have cloth goods aside from the cloak. The pants were similar and they did a better job with the sculpt. It would cost the same thing to do it right

I already got the Buzzmod. I was planning on getting both, but after this comparison I decided to not get the shf anymore. I think it is not worth it to have if you already got the other.

I have the dasin and I think the faces on these 2 are slightly better than the dasin and the figuarts looks like it poses better. These 2 also have better looking swords and sheathes and much better ways of attaching the swords to his belt.
