I get the feeling that asking interesting questions is what Ursula K Le Guin does best - she was never shy about attacking any of the systems that our society has been built around and I love her for it!

I love Ursula K. Le Guin and I love this book. In the Word for World is Forest, she introduces a species that considers the dreaming world to be as real as the waking one. One other book that comes to mind, although it's not science fiction is Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Dreams play a small but interesting part in the book.

I was reading about TWFWIF the other day! I think I’m going to buy it soon as it sounds amazing. Now that I’ve read Piranesi by Clarke, Norell is up next!

Read this last year and had to look at the year it was published several times considering the events described. Le Guinn is also very economical in her writing. She says what she wants to say and ends the book.

Agreed. I love authors like this. They come in, do what they need to do, and get out.

I remember reading Steven Harper's The Silent Empire as a teenager. It features a somewhat similar premise: a dream is used to influence people and as a means of communication. This is tied in with the mythology of Australian aboriginals. I'm not sure if the writing was on par with Ursula K. Le Guin's or anywhere close, but despite this, I remember enjoying it immensely as a teenager.

Im going to add it to my reading list. I have only read from Ursula the following short story, "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas." The other short story that haunted me was "I Have No Mouth and I Cannot Scream" by Harlan Ellison and it prompted me to purchase Harlan Ellison Greatest Hits.

This book kind of reminds me of The Dream Master by Roger Zelazny.
