Thats the beauty of this song , after a long day on the zone, u sit with strangers stalkers , u dont know them but drink some vodka and listen to this without talking to each other, but what in common we have is that this song represent the fallen ones , our comrades that been loyal to us and got lost to the zone and will never come back.
we're all just sad broken hardcore boys who love and care for each other :((( politics race and religion all these borders die when we can feel the everlasting connection between each other unexplained by words
I remember playing Stalker one time, I was trying out Anomaly and choose to be a Loner. Despite being a Loner I had good relations with Freedom and I found myself wandering around the Army Warehouses often, mostly helping out the boys on the barrier and cleaning the place of monolith troops. There was a Stalker from Freedom called Artyom Bishop, he was a run of the mill Stalker, I made a few missions for him sometimes and I always saw him wandering around with his buddies on the Freedom base. One day as I was doing my daily routine, looking for monolith patrols and whatnot I saw a skirmish between Monolith and Freedom. Monolith had the upper hand and I was too far to make it in time, I killed the Monolith troops and began to loot the bodies, and then I noticed that one of the Freedomers was Artyom. Man was I sad. I ended up taking his patch and carrying it with me everywhere... But such is life in the Zone.
Remember him, because when you go back you might see him again maybe.... in another life. But such is life in the zone It effects us all. I lost a friend and I will never be the same.
oh that reminds me of my friend Dimitri Pelchkin the last mission i did with him was to deactivate the Brain Scorcher we were best pals... But i disgress we went further into the Area closing in to the console to deactivate it but suddenly a Blood sucker ambushed us i tried to shoot it but my weapon jammed and the Blood Sucker ripped Dimitri into pieces and when i finally unjammed my gun i pumped my whole Ak-47 magazin into this beast... i only went to Dimitri and took his clear sky patch and his Weapon i only left a Vodka bottle just for him behind so he can drink it in his other life on the other side... See you soon Dimitri...
Just recently been playing Call of Chernobyl as Freedomer. Took 2 other Freedomers along, as I was heading towards CNPP. We've been through Warehouses, Red Forest, and Jupiter. Before heading towards the reactor, I've decided to stop by the sawmill to hunt down some zombies for loot. Sadly, many of those brain-scorched ones had pretty powerful shotguns (thank you, Arsenar Overhaul), and, that's where the boys met their demise. I successfully led a group of 3 to the Radar, to hunt down the oncoming Monolith attack, but failed to protect these two boys from damn zombies... May the Zone have mercy upon their souls.
when i was playing SoC I returned back to the starting area late game. I got the mission to protect the rookie village from the oncoming hoards of the military. I decided I would go out alone and take care of them so there'd be no unnecessary casualties, and I found the group of them near the bridge where those four stalkers usually hang out. Three of those four stalkers died fighting to protect the rookies in that village, and only one survived. I slav squatted near him as he played this song for his three fallen comrades.
@FungiOrAlgae? No one is evil in the zone. All of them are trying to survive and you too, pal. By killing a lone enemy that is dying, you put him out of misery. However,if that guy has a pal, better to leave them alone if you will
Thank you, i'm exausted, coming back from the zone, the bandit's are more and more agressive, i'm out of ammo for my hécate, maybe should i stop and go back in my country. I lost too many friends in the zone, they became zombie and i had to kill them. Terrible story comrade, terrible story.
Today... is a sad day. On Christmas 2022, Volodymyr Ezhov, one of the devs of STALKER Clear Sky, was reported KIA in Ukraine. He died in Bakhmut, and served the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces. I don't care if you're pro-Russian or Pro-Ukrainian... We lost a good Stalker today... We lost a real one... The zone is cruel and doesn't care... but we do... we wont forget him...
They say a man dies two deaths. One where his physical body ceases functions, and the second when they are forgotten. I truly, from the bottom of my deprecated and bruised heart, hope that Volodymyr Ezhov will live for a very, very long time before his second death. He fought for what is right, and we should never forget him.
"I saw Pulya get caught in a Whirligig, and there was nothing I could do. He was screaming for me to pull him out, and God, I wanted to... but I knew that if I tried, I'd just get pulled in, too. I couldn't save him, and it would be pointless for both of us to die. So I left him there. I turned my back and let him die, while he screamed in agony. Then the Whirligig discharged, and just like that, Pulya was no more, and I was showered in his innards. There was blood and viscera everywhere - it was surreal. I just froze there for a moment, shocked and morbidly amazed that anything could destroy a person so thoroughly. Anything that wasn't man-made, anyway. There wasn't even a body I could drag to camp to bury - just red paste sprayed all over the dead grass, and all over me. I'm pretty sure I'll never be the same after that. The Zone leaves it's mark on you - both physically and psychologically. Just as I'll never be rid of the scars, I'll never be able to forget breathing in the fine red mist that was once my friend. So, let's have a drink. On Pulya. And this cruel, cold bitch we call the Zone."
Sergei Ivanov, the writer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Died yesterday from complications related to Covid-19. He lived in Ukraine during Chernobyl and lived on to help create a world we all buried ourselves in. He truly was a good stalker. RIP
The writer of roadside picnic died in 91, so unless youre talking about the movie idk. Edit: Wikipedia doesnt credit him at all in any way and he is the direct writer of the best stalker game by far. dying of covid.
Some kids spend their child hoods in Tameriel or Hyrule. But for a special breed of special boys, a chunk of radioactive wasteland deep in Ukraine, that was their home. Always was, always will be.

After a long time spend in The Zone, you finally come back home But it doesn't feel like home anymore The once entertaining sound of city life now makes you irritated Your job which provides you secure and pleasurable life are now nothing but torture Your 'friends' are nothing but some greedy careerist Your food, the one where you always enjoy, now only enough to sate your hunger Your once comforting bed now feels like a stone table,so cold and hard Every night, you always tried to sleep,to get ready for your routine as one of the mllions of soulless cogs Every night, your mind wandered to one place, somewhere so close yet so far Without you realizing you smiled as you drifted off to sleep Only to wake up again by the sound of barking dogs and familiar staccato of gunfire You sighed from behind your mask, realizing it's all just a cruel nightmare Because, when someone has come to the Zone, they always belongs to the Zone Until at last, they will become Lost to the Zone
Always makes me cry, I had many adiction problems in the past, Im from Brazil and I have been arrested a couple of times back when I was younger, It was cocaine, I've let take control of my life, I lost the affection of my parents, droped out of school, been trough some fucked up rehabs where I had no freedom, after the last one I found myself deeply immersed by the Zone, it became my favorite game, the fact that the game never had the recognition it deserved gave it a sense of loneliness, almost if I was projecting my state of mind in that russian glichfest, needless to say that after I came back to my family and eventually beat my addiction, I recognized the stalker franchise as one of the things that helped me to keep my sanity when I was about to break down. I love this game and I'm truly grateful for its existence. And I'm not ashamed of my backstory, because what happened in the past shaped me into the human beeing I am today.
Two days ago my father died, probably on heart attack. In 2 months he should 50 years old. He really enjoyed playing in STALKER series, especially in Clear Sky and Call of Pripiat. It would be around over 3k hours played in STALKER. Now when i hear that song, that give me damn emotions. He told me once that song i perfect for sitting alone with someone in deep, deep forest with campfire and only look in fire. I lost god damn good friend.
The Zone is like a babushka. She might be so harsh on you to the point she might wants to kill you .And when she's gone, you can't help but to miss her so deeply for all the times you spend with her
I started my story as a Loner. I did a few missions with a guy called Vanya. He was inexperienced, 14 days in and he was killed by a bunch of bandits near the bridge at Cordon. That made me join Duty. On my first mission to Army warehouses a fellow Dutyer jumped out of nowhere. Captain Koev was a Hardened Master of the zone. Even on the top 100 stalkers. A month would go by and we would do a lot of missions together. We teamed up with other dutyers to tackle most of them. One fateful november day we were sent to recover a PDA from the Red Forest. at 12 PM 5 of us left the base for the red forest. I, Cpt. Koev , Jr. Sgt. Boiko, Sgt. Vorontsov and Msgt. Khaladze. We found ourselves harassed constantly by monolithians from the right and the mercs from the left. By the time we got to the gates, only 2 of us were left. We had a shitton of monolithians chasing us. We could not run the strech without being gunned down, so we decided to hunker down and defend. Droves of them came and we fought them off till the last drop of blood. The Captain used his machine gun while I used a sniper to cover him, Since my assault rifle was out of ammo. We kept fighting them off and that's when I saw a grenade land near my feet. It blew, and I was forced to take cover to lick my wounds. When I Looked back I saw the Captain, Lay there dead among the bodies. I took his patch and counted the monolith bodies. There were 13 of them. I kept the patch and put it in a stash where I kept the patches of all my fallen comrades. Months passed and I would later take these patches to the great swamps after I left Duty to join Clear sky. To Our fallen comrades, They were the BEST Stalkers.
you know...its worth it playing stalker and fighting all these creatures from the zone and coming back and seeing a few stalkers around a campfire and one of them playing the guitar...there is just something that makes my heart warm when i see that

This just makes me think how heart breaking it would be to have a firefight with zombified stalkers... And after the battle you realize you just shot your former friend who ventured too close to the brain scorcher.
I think of it as a mercy. They're trapped, and they don't even know it. With each bullet that I send into their body, I wish them luck that thsi one shall kill. When the killign blow is dealt, I say "It is over. You may rest now." They were a good Stalker. They do not deserve to suffer.

Actually it is. The whole atmosphere of the game is completely based on Slavic culture. In the end STALKER was created by the Slavs for the Slavs. A mixture of sadness and calmness has been characteristic of our cultures for centuries. It's even now a thing
Sir Muffin The Random Lol everyone gonna be gathered around your coffin in their gas masks and camouflage and someone just takes out their guitar and plays this while saying “Sir Muffin The Random was a good S.T.A.L.K.E.R”
It became known that one of the developers of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. died defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion. Vladimir "Fresh" Yezhov. You may know him as Loki from Call of Pripyat... God rest him and his. A hero of his time

For anyone looking at the comments section in more chrrent times, it's with great sadness that I report the death of Volodymr Yezhov, also known as the stalker named Loki, who was killed in action during heavy fighting near Bakmuht on or around December 23rd, 2022. Yanov Station won't be the same without you, old friend. Rest in peace.
The Zone, you heard stories about it growing up. A place with no rules, no laws, no parents. In your 20's you left home and went to the zone to rebel against society. Months and years went by for everyone else, but not you. Everyday was the same yet so different, life in the zone was hard. You fought just to see the next day, everyday. But you eventually left. Every Stalker does, they leave the zone either by the zone taking them or them leaving the zone themselves. Its been decades since you left the zone, you haven't told anyone about your time there in fear they would think your still a Scavenger, a Trespasser, an Adventurer, a Loner, a Killer, an Explorer, a Robber. A Stalker. But that was a lifetime ago. But even in your old age, you remember everything. Your friends, your comrades, the mutants, the constant firefights with bandits. You remember the campfires and guitar songs that you even learned to play. Stalkers might leave the Zone, but the Zone will always call them back. So, Stalker. Lets have a drink and smoke for the ones that never left the zone. Those are the real stalkers. I miss you Cicero, you were a good Stalker.
Whether Freedom or Duty, Clear Sky or Renegade, Monolith or Bandit, we will all meet the same end. We should cherish the moments we have with each other, before the cold, ruthless Zone takes us.
RIP Volodymr “Fresh” Yezhov. Ukrainian developer for STALKER: Clear Sky, played the character callsign “Loki.” Taken during the Russian invasion, in Bahkmut area. He died as he lived: for The Zone and its freedom. You will be missed. You were a good S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Rest easy, Friend.
I was playing as a member of Duty earlier in *Anomaly*. I had a companion named Baichenko, or something similar. We traveled the Zone together, fighting side by side. Then one day, at 4 AM in-game time, we met another Duty member. The three of us set out on a mission to eliminate a bandit in the Army Warehouses. We came under heavy fire but managed to take down our target. As I grabbed the loot, I noticed that my new companion was no longer with us. He had fallen in battle. Rest in peace, stalker. It hadn’t even been a day, and I already failed to remember your name.
For me, Ukraine itself is the zone. I lived there for four years, met the love of my life, and we moved back to the states this October. I miss it every single day. The people, the sounds, the music, the comfort of a warm fire in the dead of Ukrainian winter. I miss the sight of my city covered in snow, the smiles on the faces of the people I spoke to, the Ukrainian countryside. All of you are right: a STALKER may leave the zone, but the zone doesn't leave the STALKER.
@@nainorotodox Odd question, but yeah. Just not like Americans. If they smile, it's genuine. They also tend not to smile in public/on the street as much as Americans. At least that's what I've noticed.
@@kristianjohn663 Same in Poland, that is a cultural thing I guess and also reflects their history and sufferings during the 19th and 20th century though that is just my own speculation, i feel they are slightly more suspicious towards human nature but once they know you well, it is different.
Vlodymyr "Fresh" Yezhov, a developer on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, died defending his homeland from invasion. He died defending the city of Bakhmut as a commander of an air recon unit in the 23rd special purpose battalion. He will live on in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as his face was used as the 3D model for Loki. He was a good stalker.
I love how the comments here are either sombre yet appreciative and bittersweet while recalling the past. It's almost as if we are all around a slowly-dying campfire with someone playing the guitar.
Tragically, S.T.A.L.K.E.R video game developer Volodymyr Ezhov, who was involved in the creation of Alexander (RTS/RPG from 2004), Cossacks 2 (RTS, 2005), Heroes of Annihilated Empires (RTS/RPG, 2006) and STALKER: Clear Sky (2008) - has been killed in Ukraine during defense from the ongoing Russian invasion. The game studio announced during the beginning of the war that a number of its devs were heading off to the frontlines as they were Ukrainian, and further game development would be put on hold. Loki, from Call of Pripyat, is 3D-modeled with (a younger version of) his face. Rest easy, Stalker.
He was a good stalker. "I watched my life fall apart. although it wasn't much when i was alive, i still remember when i went to find my brother, it was just as cold as today, i didnt think i would last much longer, but i had to try. I had to for my sake. I arrived at the station of Pripyat, it was empty, scorched from the beings that walked here, i went inside, you could really smell the blood in the air, there were bodies and bodies of people but i kept going, going and going until i arrived. Until i arrived to my brother, he was dead, The zone took him. I cried and cried, but nothing mattered anymore. And today i'm sitting here in a camp remembering the good times we had. -In memory of my good brother and friend Ygor, goodbye brother, rest well. "
There's a certain feeling when you're comeing back from a raid or mutant hunt, and just stop by a group of MPCs at a campfire and listen to them playing their guitar. I little break from the chaos into peace of the Zone.
I would never thought I'd be here for how sad this song is but... I had a friend, Viktor was his name, a young man full of hope from Donetsk. We used to play Anomaly a lot, we both knew the Zone like the back of our hand. Today I learned Viktor perished in a rocket barrage. I am here to honor his memory for he was a good S.T.A.L.K.E.R. So comrades, raise your bottles for the one who shall never return to the Zone, and for the one who will forever stay young
Mutual suffering brings even the worst of enemies together. That is why Stalker has one of the best fanbases. We are already so broken, what's left to fight about? Duty > Freedom
It is said, "In war we are enemies, but in peace we are brothers." What's tragic is the fact that this statement is wrong. We are brothers even in war.
-getting ammo and food from a trader, all of a sudden you hear a commotion outside -you run out and start helping out a group of stalkers on their way to camp, who are being attacked by wildlife -only one of them survives even though you did your best -back at camp, the lone stalker sits down by the fire place, and then he starts playing this ... damn... RNG can be amazing
listening to this in this situation we are right now, remembering the days i used to play stalker and how terrifying the zone was. Now I am just sitting in my room, drinking alone, wondering when the full scale war going to break out and when I'll need to go into war and probably just die. Now I realize, the zone isn't as terrifying as I thought.
