Hey brother I’m 29 years old and I have that same model you have with some pachmayr diamond grips and just like you I get laughed at by those in my age bracket but I really don’t care I don’t expect them to understand I grew up with revolver cap guns as a kid and love this one and all the others I have Keep it on your person man ..it’s a great gun !
Love those grips! The know it all types are the real fudds. I take my 1965 Colt Python to the range often and silently listen to the comments and then smile by the end when they have all changed. "Why the old gun" turns into Wow! You can really shoot that thing!
I like your videos. I recently purchase a 627-5 (8) shot performance center. I bought one and purchased another. I fell in love with the craftsmanship. I used to be a semi auto berreta guy. But nowadays… it’s .357 from here on out. Stay blessed 🇺🇸
Nice, I just picked one of these up. It's got a cool and sexy factor to it. I did put on a white outline rear sight and I'm debating on putting on a Dawson Precision front fiber optic sight, the front night sight is okay but I'm not huge on front night sight only.
Your partially responsible for me choosing to carry the 327 pc a couple years back. I’m 35 now but I still get those looks from the polymer wonder boys.
My EDC for two years has been a revolver, or two. I’m currently using a 3” Colt Python and 2” Colt King Cobra as primary, and a S&W 642 as secondary. The “secondary” is a jacket pocket pistol, so only gets carried when it’s 70* or less. 👍👍👍👍
Very nice 586...I get it with the younger crowd. Most have a few weeks, a month , or maybe a couple years experience with a firearm, and suddenly they have it all figured out. I have 40+ years experience with firearms, and there is still alot to learn. There are always people that know something that you do not know...share your experience/knowledge, but it is never helpful to any one when you talk down to them. Even if you do think they are some old Fudd, if your fortunate enough, you may live to be one some day as well.
I had several compliments on my .357 revolver when I traveled this summer ('22) while camping. Ignore the little children's nitpicking at your choice of sidearm.
32 year old here that will carry a 4” 1967 Model 15, and has a 2022 Python on layaway. A lot of the gun community forgets that the 2nd Amendment is there for us to exercise it as we want to (at least it should be) and not everyone wants a plastic fantastic, or a 1911, or a revolver. Some of us love Walther PPK’s… Carry what you want, train with it, and be smart.
With scandium frame it would be more carry friendly but you had that 386 Night Guard also. The model 19 carry comp is only 2oz lighter and the cylinder only 2mm slimmer.
Got laughed at in ccw class when I asked if anyone else was shooting revolver. Of 16 in the class, during range portion I was only one who had 100% accuracy and I finished 4 stages of fire before everyone else. Humbled them all a bit 😂 no matter what you use, or carry. Train with it, be the best you can be with what you have 🇺🇸🎯👍👍
I've had really bad luck with the last several smith and wesson revolvers. I don't think they have anyone working in the quality control dept lol. I just bought a new 19 carry comp last weekend and it had a pretty bad malfunction. I was shooting double action and then on the 3rd shot in, the hammer stopped engaging but the cylinder was able to turn still. I dry fired it several times and it corrected itself. I definitely don't trust it as of right now. I may have to send it back.
I think revolvers are much easier to carry than a semi-automatic magazine fed. I am 36, and in my experience, it's about the gun you can keep in your waist band versus what is cool.
Im a 35yrs old and i love the way revolvers look. Getting a 586 l-comp soon. Im in NYC and the dumb state only allows 2 handguns for CCW. My first choice was a Glock 30s (45 acp) and my next option will be this.
I’m 25 and love revolvers. I don’t think they are best for every person or every situation but I do believe they still have a place in todays world dominated by cheap plactic 9mms
Personally, I prefer this S&W 586 L-Comp over any 1911 .45 ACP, for self-defense, carry and/or home protection. Revolvers, especially like this, are just point and shoot, and very difficult to miss your target. And it's nice that you could practice with 357 Magnum or .38 special... I just bought this gun, brand new, from Family Firearms, in Troy, AL, and it arrived to my FFL earlier today. Planning on swapping out the wooden grips with a gorgeous set of Hogue G10 Extreme rubber grips, with nice finger grooves, in a greenish/gray, patterned/textured finish.... Which should make this a lot more comfortable to shoot than with the wooden grips. 357 does it for me. A bit pricey in this day and age, but worth every penny in my opinion. Thanks for your video.
Teach those kids how a Glock can be knocked out of battery during close combat and become useless. Going way back, think about how Jack Ruby took out Lee Harvey Oswald. My guess is Ruby knew he could meet resistance, so he used a revolver to do the job. Also, at the time, this was the gun all cops carried.
People are suffering from feature creep. They think that because 15-20 rds in a handgun is the standard capacity now, it's the only thing you can use. When in reality, 9.9/10, once shots are fired people are running, running and shooting, etc. I had some dude arguing how 4+ people are going to continue ambushing my house to rob after I start discharging a shotgun. As if they are going to come in waves until a time limit appears. They forget that most gunfights, even home invasions, end after 3 shots and in under 7 feet. Once shots get fired, most attackers are firing while back pedaling out unless you ticked off a cartel. Yeah, I love my Glock with 17rd mag stuffed in my EDC backpack with 2 33rd mags in the second draw container, but my primary carry for 10 years has been a 8 shot 9mm and I am still alive. I really still want a Carry Comp .357m.
Last Sunday I had a couple of young guys next to me at the range ask me how I was able to hit a steel silhouette target from 200 yards with my smith and wesson model 629-6 Talo edition 6.5 barrel 44 magnum in double action 200 yard shot with s&w revolver in double action / boricua arecibo ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YUbd2SiiZro.html
Love the video, thanks for the Performance Center/wheelgun love. You mentioned running this in a holster early in the video- what holster are you running for doing transitions?
This looks like the perfect carry revolver, but it's such a snags that it's $1200. If you do end up using it in a defense situation, it will get confiscated and abused or neglected
I appreciate the content sir, I got to shoot the Python 357 my first time with a revolver, now im going to be bringing a revolver home soon and that 586 l comp is definitely one I’m considering…
Love those grips. Thinking that walnut would look great on my stainless 686. You said their a Neal brand grip? I need to take a look. Great looking revolver too! Thanks for sharing.
Hello, nice presentation. Like your wheel gun. As of late my friend who is a retired LEO x 2 started off with a wheel gun and he is a little older than I. I have always been an auto guy. Do not care much for tactical Tupperware guns although I do own many. I still believe steel and alloy guns are superior in all respects. As of late my buddy has gotten me hooked on revolvers. I had a few before I recently acquired a likening for wheel guns but now I really like them. I e joy them for range guns and plinking I would not use it as a CCW EDC. I believe an auto pistol is more practical for many reasons. Thanks for presentation Ricky from IBM, Ret
I have a 686 Plus Deluxe, 7 round 357 . Like yours but in stainless. I love it, my favorite revolver I own. I carry it only once in a while in the winter under heavy clothing or coat. A little too big to carry. Now I want to start reloading 38 and 357 for it.
Eh visto mucho este video sobre este revolver 586 L compac performan Center y se ve muy sólido y no tiene mucho retroceso al disparar alguien sabe el precio de este revolver gracias
As a 31 year old I’m looking for one and love wheel guns and 1911s. Don’t get me wrong if I go into high population areas I grab my p07. But for everyday I’m fine with my Taurus 856 and looking for a chiappa 200ds. But the lcomp is definitely on my list to edc carry
Back when I worked at a shooting range I would carry my model19 cc all of the time. It would definitely confuse the "high speed" guys, but a lot of the older guys and trainers really appreciated it. Most of those guys and myself believed that a good double action revolver will teach you how to shoot your other guns better. Besides that, they are just timeless guns that are just as effective now as they were then if you know how to use them.
I got the 686+ myself after seeing many of your videos on your journey of carrying a wheel gun. Definitely heavier than a plastic semi auto, but with a good belt and OWB holster it's good to go. I mostly wanted it for collecting purposes but I don't believe in owning any firearms that I won't carry at least sometimes.
How is the bluing and what is the double action trigger pull weight. I really want this gun but i want to see it in person but no gun shop has one in the store. I want the bluing to be like my 586-8 and 29-10. BTW i love those grips where did you get them Fingergroove grips works best for me.
It has a matte black finish vs blued. DA trigger I would have to guess is at least 11lbs and smoother than stock. Those grips are Nill and they were sent to me from someone I know. I think they can be had from some sites. They are pricy but well worth the $.
Ya know, if I like the gun I have and it works well and does what it's supposed to, I could give a crap what ANYBODY thinks. They can just get over it! I'm never out to impress anybody.
I didnt think id like moons until i had my Taurus 608 competition pistol cut for them. I love it now and can reload as fast as an auto. I tore the range up when i ran my 608 against the goofballs who thought the revolver was slow, when the moonclips drop, the bullshit does too... i had so many people asking me about it afterwards. Think a S&W revolver catches crap, take a taurus 608 with a red dot... Nils are great, i have a set on my sig 210, my 3in python and on my korth. They make those top end pistols look even better. Takes forever to get them though.
Love that 586. I get the same treatment with my 686. Don't worry those guys never stay around long term. They get a girlfriend/wife who doesn't want guns in the house and they are gone the next day. Glocks deform over time but wheel guns never die.
I knew a guy who had a 686 power port. What a gun. Sadly, he did not deserve it. Treated it like shit. He had a Para Ordinance P16-40 as well and could not figure out how to even remove the slide. Just pathetic.
A quality revolver review is ALWAYS better than any semi auto review imo. There are so many nuances that make them interesting and the fact that there are so many different types compared to, say…a Glock 19. The variations of revolvers are so vast and they each have their own character. Can never get tired of going back in time to experience the nostalgia that revolvers make me feel.
1st - I have always enjoyed your videos and I'm glad your hiatus is over. 2nd - Love the video. I would be okay taking some "feedback' from the crowd, but if someone said I was a clown I would tell them to stuff it. There's been a resurgence of people carrying a revolvers for concealed carry. And more and more manufactures are stepping up with viable firearms. I'm not against semi-autos of any kind; but I grew up with revolvers. 3rd - I'm jealous that your L-Comp is pre-lock. It's the only thing holding me back from buying either the L-Comp or the M19 Comp Carry. Thanks for the great videos!
Great video, you really showcase the awesome L-Comp. To be in the “in crowd” of young shooters, you need a big beard, lots of tats, and only run the currently in style semi-auto. I use the moon clips on my L-Comp, and can reload, without looking at the revolver, just as fast as an auto loader. And it will always work, unlike a limp-wrist semi with dirty ammo.
Don't worry about others opinions, especially if you run that revolver well. The guys running their mouths at the training are probably also the guys that'll piss their pants in a life and death scenario.
I like your grips. I put old school style target grips on mine. It is more accurate with the moon clips. You get the moon clips you also have to get the loading and unloading tools. You can't load moon clips by hand. I load 8 moon clips, at home, before going to the range. NO chasing brass at the range either. I carry mine 9 months outta the year.
I had this gun for a short time, but I didn't like the fragile blued finish and always was afraid of having to fire it in a hallway or in my car with that port on it. The previous owner also managed to put a bend in the extractor rod. Quick replacement took care of that, but still. I sold it and picked up a brand new, flawless 3" 686 and haven't looked back.
