Good video bro. I'm hoping with the increased popularity in 10mm, the ammo companies will wake up and start producing REAL 10mm ammo. It seems like Buffalo Bore and Underwood are the only ones who understand 10mm ballistics. ,
Haven’t bought any in several years, but Double Tap had some good 10mm offerings. I used their 10mm 200 grain WFNGC Hard Cast load when hunting in areas frequented by Brother Bear.
If everyone starts making proper 10mm hopefully the prices will regulate. Its actually disgusting how companies are downloading 10mm to less than proper 40s&w power and charging a premium. All 10mm should be pushing 357 mag performance
@@jpyrosky3825 a properly loaded 10mm vs a properly loaded 41 mag is no comparison. Yes, very very hot 10mm can hit underloaded 41 mag. But Max power to Max power, 41 magnum SMOKES 10MM. Where 10mm shines is power to capacity ratio. It's way closer to 357 magnum in power factor
Great video, thanks! Really sweet pistol. The ambidextrous manual thumb safety (AMTS) is a huge plus for me. Underwood Ammo 10mm Auto: - 200 Gr FN HCL (1250 FPS MV, 694 FtLbs ME) box of 20 for $28 - 220 Gr FN HCL (1200 FPS MV, 704 FtLbs ME) box of 20 for $28 Good things! 👍
I picked up one a couple weeks ago. I think it's a great pistol for the money. It takes my 200 grain hollow point bullets handloaded at maximum 10mm velocities, without so much as a hiccup. I also own the Sig X-TEN. They are definitely my confidence building duo as preferred OTW carry pieces.
@olvera6710 Would have to say the Sig. It functions flawlessly, feels good in the hands, rides very comfortably in chest and side holsters. Can't go wrong with either, however.
When came to 10mm, i only used Double tap...after watching this, looks like i got 4 other options to consider. Thanks for this vid! Don't worry...i subscribed. 😉
Good video. I am looking to buy one of these instead of a Glock 20. My hesitation has been in hearing that this model jams easily. When you are in a situation where you need smooth performance, a jam means bad things happen. Your review is helping in my decision. Thanks.
I'm so torn between the S&W Performance Center and the XDM Elite. I have had nothing but great experiences with the Springfields I have owned or shot in the past. Watching the reviews on the XDM make me feel like i could expect another phenomenal experience out of that gun. That being said, I have always wanted an M&P. It seems like every time I am lined up to buy one something catches my fancy at the last second and as of yet, no M&P. When looking for a 10mm, I have three main things I am looking for. 1. Reliability. This isn't going to be a range gun. I need be able to trust it with my life and my daughter's life. There be monsters in our forests. 2. Accuracy. For the same reason. That's where the S&W is starting to really pique my interest. I'm not afraid of recoil, but I really like the idea of the ported barrel and slide for slightly quicker follow-up shots at a charging moose/bear/wolf. The slightly longer barrel is very appealing to me. 3. Ergonomics. This gun is going to be packed around with me in my kayak/canoe. This gun is going to be packed in the deer and elk woods. This gun is going to be on my side while I'm camping with my 2 year old daughter. I need something that feels good in my hand even when my hands are beat up, soaking wet, cold, cramped, etc. S&W and Springfield both profuce extremely ergonomic pistols. That being said, I have never owned a handgun that I could draw, get in target, and fire quicker than my XD. Ultimately, this is turning out to be an extremely tough decision for me.
Went with the FN Tactical. Wanted this gun but way to many folks are changing out springs and "Crossing Their Fingers " that it takes care of the problem . Not to mention the mags falling out with 220 grain bullets .
I like that gun. I have the M&P 2.0 10mm with a 4.625 inch barrel and no safety lever. Mine has been quad ported by Mag-Na-Port. I have tritium night sight X/S optic height sights. A 508T titanium solar panel backup red dot mounted with a C&H aluminum mounting plate and stainless steel screws with blue loc-tite. And lastly an Aluminum flat black Apex trigger upgrade installed.
I have the same (without the porting) and it has been 100% reliable with 10mm Ammo (had some stovepipes with .40 S&W, which shouldn't be used, but whatever.)
Very good to see. Glad it's running these cast offerings. Some of the original 4" & even some 4.6" were struggling with reliability. A big no for me on safety. Thank you.
Love my 5" 10mm 1911. May snag one of these and see how it does for my case. I just wish companies would make real 10mm ammo. 200gr @ 1200fps is the true standard.
My S&W PC 10mm was the pickiest gun I've ever owned when it came to ammo and had several mechanical issues as well. Sold and got the Springfield Elite which was far superior to the S&W.
I own both and from an out of the box reliability perspective, you are 100% correct. From a shooting/accuracy and ergonomics perspective, the PC is better. That said, you need to polish the feed ramp, install a 20/ 22 lbs recoil spring and extra strength mag springs, and you're golden! I knew the minute I racked the slide at the gun shop that the PC was udersprung.
Thank you for doing this video!!! I am moving to Wyoming soon and was looking for a hiking/hunting pistol on chest rig. Also, i was looking at those ammo choices as well to carry, so you really wrapped up everything i needed to know.
@@9MilRidge yes. That’s what I use. I run it on a fn fnx. You don’t want to shoot it without the muzzle break. Pretty much the same thing as a 44 magnum but 15+1 capacity.
Just bought this pistol last week in our state the have a stupid 10 day hold. But it should be here by the end of the week! Already have some aftermarket accessories for it should be interesting. Did a lot of research on the 10 mm that are on market right now for the price I kept coming back to the S&W. I have seen some with a bit of trouble with some types of ammunition ftf but I bought a stronger recoil spring but I was going to do that already. I am going to shoot 40s&w in comp with the stock spring and 10 mm defense with my stronger spring! I see everyone makes a big deal about it but a lot of people that I have seen that read the owners manual don’t have any problems. It says to clean a lube the pistol before firing when getting it brand new. And all the videos I have found that acknowledge they have done that in their videos never have a problem with any of the ammunition. But even still I have other firearms in complete different caliber that run some ammo way better than others! So we shall see should be here this week I will let you know how it goes.
I only have 1 question. Are 10mm handguns less accurate than 9mm handguns (like how 308/7.62 NATO rifles are less accurate than 5.56/223 rifles)? @@9MilRidge
This gun is my favorite out there but it seems many have problems right out of the box. Were the problems from a first issue and/or this has been corrected? Im scared to shell out the money when the warnings are out there. Please add your 2 cents.
I just got a 2.0 10mm, not the PC version. Haven’t shot it yet but have heard they jam up, also heard they’re amazing and nothing wrong at all. I don’t know which to believe
I have heard we must up grade the springs to handel some ammo. Has everyone done this? Has the Performance Center done this for us? This would be my gun if the problems were addressed.
Just a quock question. For just range purposes, have you tried FMJ range ammo? Heard the S&W has an issue shooting round tip ammo. We all know a 10mm projectile is a flat face round. We are just wondering this because we are about to purchase one and spend some time on the range and would like to know if that plays a factor.
Was wondering what holster you have on Kenai? I just got the same pistol last week and their isn’t much out the in the S&W 10mm performance center that I could find. I was looking at the Hillpeople medium chest bag see a lot of good reviews on all their gear.
Great video! Have you considering testing penetration for different 10mm ammo? I’ve only found one video like this on RU-vid I believe he used 16mm thick sheet metal the results were interesting with extreme pen doin the best!
I want an M&P handgun especially in 10mm. The only thing stopping me is I am constantly being told that the optics on any M&P come off during shooting constantly. Does anyone know if that is really true and if so is the issue fixed or is there a solution. I only asked because that is the only complaint I am being told about these series of firearms
What are the best 10mm ammo brands to carry? I see a lot of people saying companies are “downgrading the power to equal or less than a 40”. What companies are doing this so I can avoid
No disrespect but the HSM is trash. If I wanted .40s&w performance I’d buy a .40s&w. Your essentially paying a 40% mark up for nothing. For 10mm I won’t pony up any of my hard earned money if I’m not getting around 700 ft lbs. factory target ammo like magtech, fiocci, and blazer achieve this for a reasonable price . Just my $0.02 🤷♂️
Not recommended hollow points when using for big or dangerous game protection. So for the purposes of these style handguns and the heavy loads, it's not for human self defense as first and foremost. So that's probably why. You want penetration and bone crushing rounds. If you want for human protection in 10mm, my favorite that ran everything was Glock 29. Carried it in Alaska regularly and switched to Glock 20 with extended barrel when camping or guiding in mountains
I had (still do) Glock 40 MOS. Wanted something smaller and quicker. I picked up the 4" S&W. Not a fan. Fukn thing won't cycle full power 10mm/1250fps 200gr. Runs fine on neutered 10mm 180gr at 1050fps loads. Hate it. And the trigger is so Abysmal it makes me wish for a Glock junk trigger I don't want a big 10mm; I want a standard carry size (G17) like the 4 inch version I bought. But I need it to run 10mm. You'd think the company that built the fukn 10mm for the FBI in the 80s would know how 10mm works.
I have the same firearm, the 4". I run a 22 lb recoil spring in lieu of the 17 lb factory spring and it works fine. The 10 mm runs a wide variety of loads that are from .40 S&W up to full power 10mm which is up there with full powerhouse .357 Magnum. Asking one recoil spring to cover the course is a lot to ask. The above firearm will work better due to the porting being more effective with higher pressure loads. If you plan on shooting just heavy loads, just go to a 22-24 lb recoil spring.
