Haven't watched your channel for quite a while now but came across this one today. I have fond memories of watching you when you first started way back when you were at the gun store with the older gentleman who has since passed on. I was really pleased to see you now have over 2.5 million subscribers WOW!! Thats not easy to do. congrats on your success. Stay safe..be well!!
This is the most COMFORTABLE CCW on the market today! feels so good on the hand and it shoots beautifully....... if you are on the fence on this one, get one
For me the Shield Plus is the right blend of compromise, between size, capacity, shoot ability and results. I’ve owned the G48 and 365. Just represents the best it can be with all things considered
My current EDC pistol is my Glock G48 which in my personal opinion is a fantastic conceal carry pistol. I just put a Shield Plus on lay away. Can’t wait to pick it up. I plan on rotating carry between my G48 and my Shield Plus!!
@@thomaspalmer7900I owned a 43x but after getting the shield plus and taking it to the range a few times I sold my 43x. The shield plus, for me is damn near the perfect EDC pistol and I got it for 380 out the door. Glocks slim line pistols are falling behind in a lot of ways. I had issues with my shield mags and never trusted them so the added capacity/mag options is a huge plus. Lol see what I did there? Even my wife and mom liked it so much they plan on buying one for carry.
I've owned, carried and shot many different pistols in various sizes and calibers, and the Shield Plus is easily my favorite. Comfortable to carry, ergos are excellent, and is a smooth shooter. Nice review, Eric. Thanks.
I went to my local range yesterday to try this out along with the p365 and totally agree. I was shocked with how comfortable and accurate it shot (even compared to a bunch of full sized guns I’ve shot)! And the trigger really is excellent imo-probably the biggest reason for its accuracy. I ordered one when I got home and am looking forward to getting it and finally having not only a gun for CCW, but a great one.
Bought the Shield Plus when it first came out, but man now I want the one with slide cut and night sights from the factory. Great to see you again on video!
I carry a Shield Plus Performance Center. Shes ported and fires smoothly. First round i fired was dead on at 50yrds. Made my day hearing that steal ring.
Felt a plus after just having shot the standard shield and the grip does not feel considerably thicker to me. The upgraded trigger is worth it's weight in gold. The hinged trigger is fine and can be trained to get good with... But a flat face trigger is in another realm.
Yeah, I've shot the older/original Shield and didn't really like the trigger at all on it...I also didn't like how narrow the grip was compared to how wide, forward to back, it was...just seemed weird in the hand. I'm really interested in this version, better trigger and slightly wider may actually feel better in the hand.
@@RhinoViper Highly recommend grabbing one. I have regular sized hands and the standard shield is a bit narrow for my hands too, and the forward set trigger I actually like. Having a trigger pull too far back into the grip is the worst trigger to try to shoot accurately.
@Steve H Well, of course....i wasn't arguing it wasn't supposed to be that way...just that it doesn't feel right(to me) in the hand when shooting....I like to shoot my guns often at the range...that gun just felt weird in the hand....plus the trigger was kinda meh. If this new version is slightly thicker and has a better trigger....sign me up.
@@RhinoViper I wonder how the magazine release BC I do not like when it gets hit and you have to watch your hand from hitting it especially with big hands
I have a S&W Shield 9mm and replaced the Henge Trigger with a Hyve Monarch Trigger (flat face). A very real improvement. I now also have a S&W 9mm Shield Plus.. With the new Trigger the Shield shoots as good as my Shield Plus. I am keeping Both. Also The Equalizer 15 round mags fits the Shield Plus. I also replaced the Barrels with Threaded Barrels.3 5.8 inch. Better lock up and a Great improvement.
Got a 4.1" barrel performance center version the week they came out...stupidly the best carry gun I've ever owned. 1200+ rounds in with nothing but one squib that cleared just fine
I have been looking at this pistol. Almost bought the original Shield years ago, but capacity was a no go, opted for the Ruger SR9c 10 and 17 round mags was the deciding factor. Plus, the SR9c is a shooter, for me, I can hit what I'm aiming at. Both are similar in size, the Ruger having a longer barrel by 0.3", the Ruger is 0.3 wider and about 2.6 ounces heavier than the original Shield. Now the Shield Plus comes out and compared to the original Shield they are almost identical, the Plus is 0.6 ounces lighter and 0.15" wider (per HandgonHero gun compare). I think the Plus is going to be a winner. I have shot the original Shields and liked them a lot and I can hit with them too. Had the Plus been around back when I bought the SR9c, I probably would have bought the Shield instead.
I've got four of the shields one in 40 cal and I've got two of The Shield pluses and I really like them I carry the shield plus every single day very comfortable to carry my wife carries her Shield Plus in her purse we both really enjoy them outstanding little guns
Been looking at one of these for a while now. I carry a full sized M&P 1st gen so i feel like this will be exceptional for me. Cant wait to pick one up!
I sure wish I had waited till they put out the optics ready version, but I’m still VERY pleased with the normal new “plus” version! I bought one the first month they came out, and the price for the “performance center” was pretty high.
I picked this up when it first came out and I love it. Only issue was lack of mags when it first came out, and the 13 having issues getting the last round in the mag. But it’s possible, just difficult on some mags
Just got rid of a 365XL and procured one of these. Very happy with it so far. The Sig was a great gun but its grip was too small. I’m 6’6” and have kinda large hands.
Definitely a great gun. After three S&W Shields over the years, I definitely bumped up to the Plus and not looking back. It's about as comfortable a carry as you'll find AND has enough real estate to get ahold of.
Just got back from the range with my S&W M&P shield 2.0! What a treat! It took a while to get used to the sights (standard metal w/white dot) they feel slightly high to me. Never the less 1,000 + rounds no malfunction. Really pressed to buying the shield plus.. but I’ll wait till the next latest and greatest from them. My 2.0 shield is a absolute beast. I trust my life with it as I carry it every day! Great video brotha!! 🤙🏼
Yes, I had to aim with the front sight slightly higher than the rear sight. Not a big deal. My favorite now over CZ85, CSX and Ruger LCP. The no safety with the 15 round mag works for me.
My 2¢ opinion. I think this is the best OVERALL pistol on the market!!!!! Simple, reliable, proven, affordable, customizable, and EDC ready. You can't beat it!!!
Been waiting for this review from you. I bought this as soon as it came out and it is by FAR my favorite musket. I shoot it better than anything fullsize.
Sold my custom built 43x after I got the sheild plus. For a big guy it's WAY MORE COMFORTABLE to carry everyday and it's a better shooter out of the box. And even better with some trijicon hds
I like the plus a lot, the texture is a little more aggressive than I like but that’s fixable. The slightly large size of the grip is more comfortable and the finish on the slide is improved. The trigger in better than my OG shields but the reset is marginal at best.
Camera needs to be positioned a couple of feet to the right to capture shots on the steel plates on the left side of the range, and probably back a foot as well to keep a single camera position (much, MUCH preferred to a moving camera position) and still keep Eric in view. :) Thanks for you excellent content from the gun controlled UK.!
Thanks Eric you just made up my mind I’m going to grab one after all you said plus I love smith & Wesson firearms high from Washington state thanks for what you do
I have the single stack Shield 2.0. I chose it over the P365 and G43 because I have large hands. It simply fit me the best when I held all three side by side.
Installed an Apex trigger kit on mine. The stock setup had a weak reset before I added Apex trigger kit. Apex Tactical says that the shield 2.0 kit will fit on the shield plus. Also I installed Trijicon night sights.
Eric as much as I like your videos this one is about 6 months late. You need to to talk to your Smith rep so you can get there guns a lot sooner than they gave you this one. I've had the Shield Plus PC for a while now and I consider it the best of the small carry guns. It has low recoil compared to the rest and is easy to keep on target considering it size. I also found it very flat shooting. Great little pocket rocket !
In their max capacity configs the Shield Plus is not much bigger than a PPS M2. 13 + 1 vs 7 + 1. In low config the PPS is smaller. Had 6 failures in first 100 rounds with PPS and higher cap mag purchased after was a real problem. Zero failures with Shield Plus. New flat trigger on Shield is a huge improvement. PPS is in storage now.
I bought my shield plus right as it came out and it was my first brand spankin new gun. Bought a TLR-6 and got a kusiak holster within hours of purchasing. I also had the hellcat, the performance center shield and the sig to compare with each other, in the end the shield won.
Another excellent review! I've been rocking with the OG shield for 5 plus years....first pistol, now I gotta get this one lol....picked up a used gen 4 g26 w extra goodies but I feel like I missed out on this one lol
I like the way he looks down at the end of the table.. EVERYTIME.. MAKE SURE he doesn't step over the LINE...!!! HOWEVER.. I carried a SINGLE STACK 40cal. For 7/8 years & loved it.. I just wanted to move to a 4" barell for the VELOCITY/ EXPANSION
I like shield but have the last model but I really like it. I feel the hellcat is similar so I like it too. But shield I found a metal clip for hanging on your belt and it’s nice. No extra crap on your belt just clip on and role out
I want to have a John when I’m at the range too. Where did you get him? 😀 I love Sig, but if you’re worrying about prices, S&W gives good quality, but at a way lower price point.
You can only use optics on the PC not the 3.1. I now wish I knew that before I got the base plus. But the Performance Center is a 4" and will fit the optics sights.
Just shot my PC plus yesterday, unfortunately the optics cut version wasn't available from the place I bought mine. Either way, it's fantastic. Recoil feels like a much heavier gun.
@@kuzz7919 not sure what you are asking there. They do not make the EZ plus as of right now. I figure they will probably change that in a year or two, but nothing official that I have heard.
@@kuzz7919 Yeah I honestly don't see why they wouldn't. It's the direction that everything is going. They do like to say that the EZ is easier for folks with weak hands to load which would be directly impacted by a double stack, but they could just include a loading tool to help.
