S2 EP2: MODESTY a Christian perspective. 

I noticed that a lot of Christians use “personally I haven’t had any conviction” as an excuse to dress immodest when the Bible clearly encourages us to dress appropriately

Preach!! It’s soo hard to find Christian friends my age with this mindset. Lukewarm lifestyle has been so normalized 😭

Y’all have so much wisdom IT’S INSANE. I’m 20 and every time I listen to y’all I’m just overwhelmed that young Christians like you guys still exist. God is really working through you guys and I pray He keeps doing so & may His word be preached as it should! I can definitely say that I learned so much listening to your podcasts and it made me realize so much things that I was neglecting before and I want to seek the Lord even more now! Melodyyy, spot on girl! People will notice you don't curse, gossip, blaspheme GOD, speak foolishly, say coarse/vulgar jokes. Back then they would say "goody two shoes", but now they say "judgemental" "holier than thou" as if being holy is bad thing... When in reality like you said, we're just set apart. And lowkey they are watching, taking mental notes, and are curious about you. And they're curious either with good motives or bad. Because I've had people amazed by the fact that I'm optimistic or nice. But, then you have those devils in people that want to destroy you, push your buttons, and find a way to make you "crack" under pressure as if me being nice is a bluff or facade. I also have dealt with people that thought I was being judgemental because I told them I don't do everything the world does. They took it personally/offensively, but that comes with the territory of holiness-- people that are intimidated by a Christ-like lifestyle will love to make you feel like you should lower yourself to their level for their comfort in sin -- skrrrt no sir. But, with GOD we won't crack under the pressure and we will stay true to Him by being righteous, holy, and Kingdom citizens regardless of what everybody else is doing.

Beautiful pod, Christians I think shy away from modesty not just because of conviction but also because I think it really represents who they are and what they need to do. Men and are women should carry themselves in a modest way in order for the community to more accountable to each other without feeling judged.

I’m not gonna cry, but saying that your outward appearance reflects your inward view that you have hit me so hard. I am in my growing phase of my walk with Jesus. And my whole life I’ve struggled with what I can do for men because of early on sexual trauma. Although I’ve moved from that, I still catch myself going back to this type of behavior. I’m impressed however because in my early 20s I was super far from this mindset. I’m so glad you guys are out here preaching to the youth because I wish I could’ve had someone tell me these things!

I am pentecostal & I only wear skirts for my purity & PROTECTION but I don't judge girls who wear pants cause you can be Modest Wearing Pants like she said be mindful of the way you PRESENT YOURSELF & Honor your spouse if you have one. It's not hard HOLYSPIRIT WILL GUIDE YOU Listen MODESTY IS SO BEAUTIFUL who you really are gets to SHINE Bright ✨️

This video really spoke to me. I'm 18 now and before I wore pants and wore tight stuff(I felt convinced to start wearing skirts and dresses). I didn't wear it for attention, I just wore what I felt was comfortable but I was still dressing immodestly. I read the Bible and researched Modesty in Christianity and in other religions. I found a modest style that I loved and I even started veiling full time. Glory to GOD, I dress modestly and change my personality too 💗

Today, I prayed for all of you because you are doing God's work. I like that you don't change God's message for your own benefit. Even when it's hard, you still try to do what God wants. I'm grateful for you and I hope you keep telling people about God. Regarding the podcast, it has been a while since God convicted me about this matter. While I strive to dress in a manner that pleases Him, I acknowledge that I still have a long way to go. What resonates with me most is the importance of nurturing a beautiful heart, as God instructs us in Colossians 3:12: "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." I recognize my tendency to prioritize superficial appearances over embodying the traits that God desires of me. At times, I find myself acting in ways that are geared towards attracting attention, particularly from men, and I am aware that this does not align with God's will. The Holy Spirit continually reminds me that I am not being true to myself. I hope I can change and be more like Jesus. Amen.

When you talk about the modesty of honoring your husband, you can tie it into how God's "rule" of modesty is a protection, because you could easily see how fights or insecurities or different issues can ruin a godly relationship through lack of modesty.

verse I read about few days ago that convicted me on modesty was " Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ." Philippians 1:27

Not yet done watching, but I feel like I’ve been cleaned up. There was all these bad thoughts and energy in me about modesty, I felt like I was changing my ways. Now my heart feels empty of the thoughts 💭 ❤😢

Finally! A podcast episode that speaks about modesty and doesn’t sugar code it by reducing it to personal convictions! It’s never okay go for your body to be more recognizable than the God in you! The Bible says, “Let your [light] so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16) God didn’t say “let your bodies shine before all men.” Also, I’m so glad y’all addressed Pastors/Christians using profanity. So so good! You really spoke truth in love!

I love this topic because it’s def been something i’ve been working on, for a long time i cared about my appearance and how men noticed me in the way i dress but now i don’t want to dress that way and i want to be loved for me and what i have to offer intellectually, spiritually, etc and not just looks and they love me because they see God in me. It’s def a work in progress but i’m happy that i’ve had that realization and if a guy rejects me now then he didn’t see me the way God sees me and the way i see and love myself. Pray others realize this too men and women be you and show who you are on the inside and not worry about your outward appearance 💗🦋

My friend earlier told me she had a dream of me with my dad and I was tryna learn more about God but my dad did not like what I was wearing, He seemed to not approve bcc I was wearing very short revealing clothes and Hod had been convicting me for a long time but I’d ignore it just biz I thought it wasn’t that bad but when I heard that dream I knew God was telling me to start dressing modestly. Each point and explanation 💯 Hope some time yall can also touch on piercings , tattoos etc. I got married young and i drifted away from God , was also lukewarm and also people around me been luke warm as well. Both my spouse and i did wrong and have decided to separate. Every time i tried to male it work, things kept getting worst. Now that i am healing and have time on my hands, its easy to go party etc (as i didnt really get to before) but i choose not to and choose to do life with god. Doing life without him has gotten me to a dark place, that i question my purpose for being here other than for my son. Ive always been petite, then losing a little size i had, with so much stress, appearance is killing me So these videos help me alot. Continue doing what you do 😊

I'm trying to get out of the ultra casual stage of the last few years pandemic. As a 38yo woman, I'm still wearing t-shirts and sweat pants. I'm in the process of finding nicer, modest outfits that still make me look good/confident. thing is, I always get more compliments when wearing some trousers and a blouse.

Wow you guys are so encouraging! I think God was really speaking to me and confirming things to me through this. Before covid I did a fashion show where I showed girls how to take out fits they wore and style them modestly. People wanted me to move ahead with it, but covid happened and I sort of lost motivation. Recently people have been saying I should start investing in that idea again, as this seems to be something God has gifted me in. I love seeing how Melody, you have grown in your modesty journey. Now both of you are echoing my exact thoughts from what I have learned as I study God's Word. I feel like in this season I have like 5 friends, and 2 of them are you guys lol. It's kinda sad cause it's one sided but you guys are such amazing people with beautiful hearts for Christ! So I can't resist commenting all the time. Maybe one day it won't be one sided😅 love you guys💙

As a freshman college student, seeing how my peers dress can really tempt me to change how I dress to fit the standard. A lot more crazy things happen when you decide to step outside your relationship/marriage. Sometimes it happens instantly, other times it takes a while for it to happen. There are emotions at stake here and it could easily go left if a partner starts feels insecure. And it makes me always remember this particular verse in the Holy Bible Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Let's let God and His word be the center of all our relationships and not things of this world and I believe things will workout fine.

This is good and insightful. I also want to hear y'alls thought tho on how to deal w friends that are departing in your life cz of the walk w Christ. Right, now that you have been convicted and God's called you, you wouldn't want to jeopardize your relationship w God and your growth if anything you're trying to grow more and more in spirituality and that means soaking yourself in the word of God. Setting yourself apart, uhm also engaging in activities, conversations even, that glorify God. But now these friends have been w you your whole life. And now that you've chosen to stop being lukewarm, stop conforming cz that doesn't align w the holy spirit in you and the purpose God has called you for; they feel like you want to change them not understanding that you care so much for them, you trying to be a compass that points them to the light which is God. How can one go about these friendships ? Friendship that have existed for years on years that live's have literally become intertwined and now that one has decided to be on fire for the Lord, how can it be that, that one is able to project their values unto them so they can also be brought into the same revelation. Galatians 6 vs 1-3. Just something I'd really love to see you guys share y'alls insight about.❤
