@@40ChannelCruiser I've got a 74 FJ40 that crawls in the Everglades exclusively. I have the original 4 spd transmission but just now mating it up with a 3 spd T-case for a little bit lower crawl which I really need with the 39.5-15 x 15 Super Swampers. I've I have two H42s and three T-cases apart in limited shop space and I'm getting things mixed up. I was stuck until I found your vid. You save me.

Love to see you using Timken bearings! That's who i work for back here in USA! The Heat trick is wonderful doesn't take much to expand that ring.

Gday Jayson, I am about to rebuild my H55F 5 speed and transfer (I’ve got two of them to combine into one good one) loved your video and presentation as usual. One question, how did you remove the old bearings? Did you use a puller? Or some other way? Maybe an idea for a future video would be to demonstrate how to use some dedicated use tools like bearing and seal press, bearing puller etc. I personally find them a bit intimidating as I haven’t had much expedite them and hate the thought of damaging aluminium housings. I have done a few bearings and seals on motorcycles and just used various hacks to get things out and tap them in but would be great to see someone like yourself with good instructional skills demonstrate the correct way to do it! Cheers mate

Did you guys have to have your selector forks repaired at all?
@40ChannelCruiser
@40ChannelCruiser 2 года назад
No I use the best from the two case's I had, which one was in great condition and the other was worn out.

Hello again gents. I used the same method as you guys to heat and fit the bearings in my transfer case. Now I’m reading that bearings should never be heated with a torch. I don’t suppose you’ve had any problems or failures at this early stage?
@40ChannelCruiser
@40ChannelCruiser Год назад
There is not a issue with heating with a touch as long as you heat evenly and don't heat to the point that the metal changes colour. If you heat too much and the metal changes colour then yes it can cause problems. Slow and even heat, move the touch constantly.
