TP tools has a rust cover paint equivalent to Por15 but it does come in a satin finish and doesn’t need to be topcoated because it has built in UV protection it’s quite a bit cheaper also. Use the Por15 degreaser and Por15 metal prep to do the job right.
hey, how is the POR15 holding up after 2 years? im refreshing my suspension but i got my sub frame out aswell, since im from the UK, rust in here is a bit of a problem. I was planning going powdercoating but so many people are saying dont last and is a moister trap. Thanks for all your videos, keep up the good work.
It’s been holding up fantastic & has been sprayed by dirt & rocks from track use as well. I plan to make a video soon updating how they are holding up after 20+ hard track days and two years. Stay tuned !
These look good! At what point did you stop with the drill and let the metal prep do its job? I wonder if I could do this with the control arms still on the car...
I doubt it would come out good if you left them on the car. I used the wirewheel on the drill for about 10 mins on each arm to smooth the rough rusty texture down a little before hitting them with the metal prep.
Hey Nick! Did you have any POR15 leftover after doing the 4 rear control arms? I'm trying to estimate how much I'd actually need to cover the control arms in the front and rear.
They are remanned from powerstop, the fronts are not genuine nissin cores though, they are from some aftermarket mold. Unfortunately you cannot buy nissin Remanned calipers for this car anymore from powerstop because no one ever sends their core back
All bushings need to be removed for powder coat and the arms need to be sandblasted. I did this to my front control arms a couple years ago (videos on my channel) and it did not last. The POR15 is hands down the way to go
