Episode 5 of season 2022 on the new HO Scale Union Pacific Railroad Evanston Subdivision; an N scale inspired HO layout. The layout is being built by Daryl Kruse, an experience modeler with articles in many national model train publications. The UPRR Evanston Subdivision covers the original UP mainline from Green River, WY to Ogden, UT. The layout will be a great railfan layout, but will also include lots of yard operations, local switching and MOW activity.
You may purchase items from the N scale layout at uprr-geneva-sub.square.site/
This episode features construction of the peninsula area that will contain Castle Rock, Curvo and Wahsatch. s2022e05

Benchwork looks great! Didn’t realize how massive this layout will be when finished, especially when the second level goes in.

as a lifelong cabinetmaker, I believe the 'wobble' in your benchwork is mostly caused by tour 2"x2" legs flexing. Try extending your diagonal bracing from your "L" girders, down 'till they're closer to the floor, I'm SURE you will see a marked improvement in your overall stability.

Making good progress! With the basement work you did before the layout was built it looks very inviting.

You are making great progress!! Enjoy your time away. Sometimes you need to take time away and return to the layout with fresh eyes.

You've got your bracing on the legs. You need horizontal cross-bracing from corner to corner of your L girders (at table height). A plywood top wood usually address the wobble but you're not using plywood.

The layout is just coming along great. The best is yet to come for your layout there Daryl. I already set up where I will be building my permanent N scale Pacific West Coast model railroad. I finished the scratch built diesel locomotive shop minus the doors, finished the first sanding towers. My freight car fleet is now 85 freight cars, 4 cabooses, 5 freight locomotives, 2 will be shipped off the Bachmann for coupler replacement with knuckle couplers & one locomotive needing repair.

That is going to be a beautiful layout and what a nice clean layout room. I know on my layout I used 1x4's for my vertical supports to cut down on the wiggle. I see trains running around then entire layout by summer... WOW... Take care... Daylight Dave... 🤗

It's moving right along Daryl, considering that's a lot of measuring

Once you get some weight on there it will stiffen up. also use that metal strapping (or 1x4) and make some X bracing on the under side off the deck will also stiffen it up,
