What a wonderful classroom atmosphere with experts and audio and visual aids along for the ride! You combined what it would take a teacher several classes to introduce all these ideas into one video. But, the door was still left open for more interpretations of what is going on. The affect she has on us, although seemingly universal, is a very personal one on one relationship with each person whose heart has received her love.

I'm an artist/painter and at the end of the video Pontus was telling about his father not wanting to explain his artwork. I often answer to people who asks why I painted the way I did: "Because I didn't come up with anything crazier." Then they don't ask anything more, they just laugh out loud. ;)

The moment Angelina steps up to a mic and starts to sing it's obvious that she's a genius.Genius,in the arts, by it's very nature can't be satisfactorily explained, any more than the wind or sunshine.It is so large that as receptors we can only ever experience a percentage of what it gifts us with and that varies with every individual.However I do love what you guys do,finding brilliant minds enlighten us at least a little in that direction.
@BarrySowder

Genius can be interpreted as an "I know it when I see it" sort of thing. With Angelina however, it's really an" I know it when I experience it" sort of thing -- because she reaches deep inside of herself and deep inside us.

Hi, again, DL. Couldn't help but share that story with you. Btw, Santa Anna (Mexican leader) was married in the hotel in 1900 or 1901, before Arizona became a State. I also helped run the elevator (one where you slightly nudge the handle to get exactly to the floor level) and helped the nighttime manager to answer phones (whereby you had to connect wires to transfer calls). You can imagine how long the story is, so long, I'm starting to consider writing a novel about my experiences. Enjoy your breakfast! 🙂 Angelina? No one like her, PAST OR PRESENT! She's so much more than a wonderful artist. When you combine her artistry with what kind of a person she is, we are talking about a very, very, very special person.

Delicious and profound episode of the podcast (by the way Pontus, congratulations on the shirt 🤣). I think one of the brilliant aspects of Angelina also lies in her ability to use what is called lateral thinking, in the parallel but divergent vision that she has of music and that for her it seems to be absolutely innate and natural.💛🧡❤

MARVELOUS you guys. 👏👏👏👏👏👏. Can't say I've seen all of your podcast but I'm catching up. This one is what I'd call Genius. You and your guests have "framed" what,in my opinion, is Angelina's genius. It goes beyond her numberless qualities, technical and human. She has what we Latins call " a Quid". Something extra. When she picks a song she sees a Cathedral made by someone else and thinks:" what can I do with it?" So she changes the " form", she modifies the structure and comes out with something that nobody has ever seen/ heard before. Like it's been said, the way she uses words,syllables,vowels even consonants, modifing,bending them with her nuances,riffs and runs and vocal magics sliding up and down the register at will, changing the tonality of a single word. In my long life I've listened to all the greats. She's the Greatest. ❤️❤️. PS. Pontus, I love your idea of a video on the reactors. Do it. I'll watch it. Bye Angels.👍🤟👍🤟

It's a fine line .. that of her being aware of what she is affecting others and/or being aware that she herself is feeling it deeply, truly .. because it does happen to be the way she LOVES .. both singing and her fans. Does this make sense? I just heard what you said, Bart, about the difference between a prodigy and a pro. I love that. She is a pro now .. but not precocious or full of herself, like some pros .. simply and purely she is doing what she wants to do .. what she feels called to do .. knowing it is right and when she hears it and it is true, it aligns with her feelings. Does THAT make sense? I love love love these shows!!! pro, genius, prodigy .. call it what you will she is who she is and she is following her own soul, the joy of singing and the joy of sharing her joy. I am so very very grateful. YES! that is what GENIUS is .. and you are being one by speaking it so clearly, Bart!! You get A+ for your language abilities that are soulful and true. THANK YOU TO ALL THREE OF YOU!!! Oh! .. now Luka?? WOW!! TANGO!? Is that all I need to be a genius!?? I love TANGO! When she replies, ' but it could have been just anywhere'. Nice teaching moment for the woman interviewing her hahaha. It was as if her strong feelings were dismissed by some before, with a developed world superiority complex, as 'oh, that's just how it goes in the middle east child'. Meanwhile she knows children are neglected everywhere and in many critical ways, including that way. The way she looked at her as she asked the question, and as she answered it. 9 years old in real life, and she had the gumption Clint Eastwood did while acting. Sharp too, she knew what question was coming as it was coming, and immediately flipped it on it's head.

A couple of years ago the Biblioteca Nacional here in Madrid held an exposition of some of Leonardo's papers. In one section, he was exploring various types of springs. He actually sketched essentially very type of spring that we have today, despite the fact that they were impossible to manufacture because spring steel didn't exist! In his last days he was trying to describe water waves mathematically with an implication that they were related to sound waves. True genius!

I love your choice of My Funny Valentine, Pontus .. I immediately recalled the early version, when she was 10 .. charming, magical, amazing .. then the version (at 16) where the singing was taped and in the video she was walking around the store we all know .. and oddly (genius, maybe?) she looked as if she was walking through the music itself .. she was feeling it without trying, in some very unusual connection to the music going thru her body .. and then the NEW one .. the "jazzy" one, as they call it .. that has the photo of Angelina and Grandma Mery directly in front of each other, Angelina touching/holding her Grandma's face .. the photograph is an extraordinarily stunning picture of a deep deep but very natural love .. ( could we call it genius love, perhaps?) .. it is as if they are one person. Extrordinary. The new version of the song is beyond exquisite, is it not? I also loved your guest's (sorry .. don't have his name in my non-genius mind) statement about Suspicious Minds and the "I'm caught in a trap" scene with the kids on the screen. I've been surprised that all reactors as well as all comments I've read say that the kids are Angelina growing up. That makes not even an iota of sense to me .. she is such a brilliant storyteller .. I cannot comprehend why, in the middle of telling a story about a troubled relationship, where there was no trust .. that suddenly she would put a little story about Angelina growing up .. huh?. It makes no sense. I think it is Lisa Marie growing up who was part of the trap she was caught in .. but I have not had success the times that I brought this up. Maybe you guys will see the genius of her doing that .. Lisa Marie .. and then .. when she died Angelina was very strongly affected by her death .. and I right away went into her thinking of Lisa Marie (in the song) as part of her "trap" .. instead of having loved her. At the end of that scene with the kids, when Juliette is looking up in the chair, it cuts to Priscilla (Angelina, of course) and she was not even remotely interested in what all the kids were seeing above them with awe .. the chandeliers etc.. So I cannot think of that scene with the children in any other way. It will always be Lisa Marie to me. (The reason I brought it up is that I think k that scene is pure genius.) Another great time with you both and your guests .. both very interesting. Thank you so much, I really appreciate you.

As you both stated a few times, “this is deep!” It may take a genius to understand exactly what these folks are talking about. Anyway I was sucked in and had to watch the entire fascinating conversations. One of the things I would include about Angelina’s ways of interpretation is she astute observation powers. Studying so many of the greatest singers of the past and observing how they transmitted the story and meaning of a song, then arraigning her own way of conveying that message. The singers of today have not studied the classic singers of the past, so only know and copy the fellow tic toc singers of today.

Wow. I never connected how the camera was mirroring the music in the beginning of Suspicious Minds- hovering in the high crystals for the high register part of the intro, then dropping down when piano went lower. Thats some nice attention to detail in the video production, whoever was responsible for calling those camera shots. It wasn't mentioned explicitly here, but another example that I noticed early on of how Angelina sings particluar words that helps carry the emotion of the lyrics is at the very beginning of Bohemian Rhapsody. In absolute silence, she starts off softly, acapella, with a very airy, whispery, breathy "any way the wind blows". This always struck me as stunningly brilliant. Great job on this Alan and Pontus. Once again, I love your podcast, and you present very interesting people, but something that I find frustrating is that we allways talk about what Angelina gives us, that way she is, what she does and what she should do. Let´s don't forget that she is a very sensitive person, she is 17 years old and she may be a genious in music, but I think that it is a good time to ask ourselves what can we do for her to make her feel happy and to help her become a better person, without the typical adulation of the fans. "What can we do for Angelina?" I don´t have a good answer but that could be a good podcast

Perhaps not really connected to the theme “Genius” but I have pondered over what an impact the different slowed down covers Angelina has had, and why. I think I have found one clue in one of her answers in the Skavlan talk show. That was in the first part when they spoke Norwegian. Skavlan asked what she liked most, to sing or to talk and she answered “To sing and to write”. I think that this is a key answer, also connected to all her diary writing from a young age. When she is preparing a new arrangement, I think that she starts with the lyrics and how to convey the message in the lyrics most effectively in music, regardless of how the original artist arranged it. This is very clear in “Bohemian Rhapsody, Billy Jean and Suspicious Minds. In other cases she may come to the conclusion that the original arrangement already is quite suitable for the lyrics and the she doesn’t change it very much, for instance like in “I Have Nothing”. At the bottom line it is always the message in the lyrics that is the most important.

Thank you for discussing these topics about Angelina. Very interesting. To the point that Pontus made about art affecting people and their relationship to their government, I would love to see AJ take a more inspirational approach to her music in relation to freedom, peace, and mutual caring in the world, similar to the artists of the 60s and 70s that helped change racism, end a war, and empower a generation. I love her doing MJ's song "Heal The World". His "Earth Song" and/or Elvis's "If I can Dream. Of course she's fully capable of writing her own songs addressing political and social unrest and has the ability like no other to touch people emotionally.

I remember being told that when you compare the interior of average brains to Einstein's, you have to think of it as most of us having connecting twigs in our brain, spread apart with distance, but Einstein's inner brain was more like so many 'twig' connections that formed what could only be described as a thick, dense bush. It should allow him to far surpass normal levels of compartmentalization that he can draw from in his thought process. I detect this in Angelina, for she exhibits an ability to retain all forms of music she is exposed to, compartmentalizing them, and bringing specific parts aloud instantaneously.

I am surprised about the comment of, "does a tree falling make a sound if no one is there to hear it" ; given the fact that sound is just vibrations, which when it hits a receptor such as ones ears' inner workings the sound is manifested and perceived by the hearer. Thus when a tree falls the vibrations produced go out whether there is anyone or recording device to manifest the vibrations as a distinct sound. Surely this guest must knows this about sound!!

People wonder if Angelina is truly genius, hope this helps.. a study of how people solve problems. The author defined an interesting difference between how a genius solves problems, compared to other people. The author said that when he saw a normal person find a new idea, the author could often think and discover the steps that person took to their new idea. But when a genius had a new idea, he could never figure out how the person got the new idea. The new ideas were just so unconnected to the previous state of knowledge.
