That engine is beautiful, so clean and proper. Very nice man. I have an 01 B350 extended. I love it. They're beasts.

Thanks. I went to replace the throttle position sensor on my 5.2 l b350and the torque sport wouldn't move. It's frozen in place. I had a cheap torx driver that actually broke. I had purchased that at harbor freight. So that sucks. But, I just purchased a 5.9 l V8 Dodge b350 that's running rough and I'm going to give it a shot on that one.

Thank you. Appreciate it. My poor van has been suffering poor mileage, black smoke, and rough idle, and some of the symptoms you describe. This is something I can do.

Great video. Thanks, I like to listen your advice. Just wonder how do I know these sensors are bad? Does any ODB2 scanner can diagnose and give exact codes?
@RoadTripEddie
@RoadTripEddie 6 лет назад
No obdII codes showed on my scanner when bad. MAP can be tested with a dvm for resistance levels (compared to a new one) IAC gets dirty and burnt, more important to clean the throttle body so the iac plunger doesnt get stuck.(clean when sensors or not installed within, to avoid damage) TPS can be checked with a standard screwdriver for grinding and a decent spring return. If there is grinding or no smooth spring return.. then replace.

Outstanding video RoadTrip Eddie. I have a 1999, B-3500 with a 5.9L with 126k miles. Don't use the van too often so have been fighting this problem since last year. Funny thing...ran fine in cold weather all winter, but last summer and this year it will make the 10 mile trip to a store fine. When returning it would die out and not want to run unless I pulled the PCV out??? Anyway I intend to try your suggestions. Compliments on a very clean engine.

Thank you so much for posting this video! I have a bad IAC was going to take it to the shop and pay 204.00 to have it replaced. No one has ever accused me of being a mechanic, but I think even I can do this! Very good video. Subscribing.
@RoadTripEddie
@RoadTripEddie 7 лет назад
+niklas marklund yes it's a very easy fix. Just make sure you clean the throttle body really good too. Otherwise the new AIC will just get stuck in there again. Might have to use a toothbrush.

I find your cost to benefit ratio of simply switching out all the sensors at once to be a stroke of frugal economic genius. I just started to have a slight hesitation at cruising speed, or rather trying to maintain cruising speed uphill. A slight depression of the accelerator and she starts to skip. A hard depression and I have no problems whatsoever. Idle, no problems either. If after cleaning my plugs and inspecting my cables does not resolve the problem I will defer to your judgement. Thank you for sharing your time with me and the rest of us. Subbed.

I changed the three sensors on the throttle body because the vehicle was at 110 k miles and I was just renewing components that needed to be replaced as per its standard routine maintenance schedule.

Anonymous Guest hey man my 5.9 is doing the same thing as you. Wide open throttle it’s fine, but normal load and it skips. What did it end up being?
@RoadTripEddie
@RoadTripEddie 5 лет назад
In my case, all 3 were bad, map out of range and not functioning, iac was extremely dirty with carbon including the throttle body, the tps was grinding and getting stuck. Plus, i had one o2 sensor out of range. All typical for original parts at 110k miles

Thank you for such great video, I have a van exactly the same, I’ve changed the IAC and the TPS but never occurred to me that the MAP should be replace as well, and that annoying engine light never goes off, code p0505 so I will replace the MAP God first the problems Will go away, thanks again

thank you ! i have a friend that when you step on the gas it turns off .. i guess its the same thing.
@RoadTripEddie
@RoadTripEddie 4 года назад
ooo I don't know. That could be a number of different issues. Sometimes it's easier to start with the lowest cost to replace items first, sometimes parts can be checked with an ohmmeter or dvm. I hope the problem gets resolved Blessings.

helpful video! i have a 94 b350. im not mechanically inclined but am going to have to figure out what happened with the van. Basically, it sat for a long time, part of that was from a dead battery and not having the money to get a new one. of course it was sitting with a full tank of gas. it was stalling some before the old battery went completely dead. after the new battery it acted like it was going to stall once but didnt. took it mechanic to get a new washer fluid pump and asked them to check it out. they said it came back with an idol sensor code but advised to drive out the old gas then put techron in with the next fillup. about an hour after I did that i noticed a little bit of loss of power when accelerating on the highway but it was really brief. a little bit a smell of burnt oil for like a split second. but it drove fine the whole rest of the day. But, i also noticed it started leaking from the front of the van. not much. a few drops. but it wasnt leaking before. this is rebuilt engine with less than 10,000 miles on it. now im frustrated and nervous about it all. especially taking it back to the mechanic. i need to clean the k&n filter probably and was told by a friend an oil change is needed since the techron was added. i can do both of those but the rest of the mechanic stuff is foreign to me. while this video doesn't really get into my issue, it was still really helpful. thanks
@RoadTripEddie
@RoadTripEddie 5 лет назад
If a vehicle with unleaded gas sits for too long it sometimes doesn't run properly, and running some good gas through it may probably straighten itself out, unless there's some other issue. But I would try that first. Always try the lowest cheapest price things first. Your fuel filter may be clogged also. Dont give up on it by any means. Its worth it.
@pherhymeswithamc6399

@@RoadTripEddie thanks for the reply. well it's got new gas with the techron in it. i didn't now to try the better gas but will next tank. it hasn't misfired or idled weird or died since the mechanics who changed the washer pump reset the code. I also noticed that the leaking fluid is a small amount of transmission fluid, not oil. didn't see any evidence of oil leaking anywhere on the engine. asked a friend and showed him pictures. based on that the first thing he thought to try was tightening the transmission cooling hoses because it was very small leak near the bottom of the radiator. he also recommended an oil change since it hasn't been ran very much in a long time. first time i've ever done an oil change entirely by myself. Hopefully this takes care of it all. *fingers crossed*

@RoadTripEddie

@Leonardo J. SM it should be coming out of the side of the engine block and routed with the hose to the top of the valve cover.

I have a dodge b1500 6 cylinder. It stalls when I stop, I changed the spark plugs, wires and distributor. It still stalls. I'm confused about the plug gaps, my hood says .40 gap and my Haynes book says. 35 gap.

*Make sure the air cleaner is clean/new* If it stalls when at a stop, my 1st guess would be the M.A.P. sensor or the throttle body being dirty, and the idle air control. (If it is fuel injected) Sometimes the simplest, lowest cost, things are all it is
@RoadTripEddie
@RoadTripEddie 4 года назад
Don't forget the (pcv) valve. But really, anything can cause it to stall when at a low idle, usually caused by dirt and/or gunk, somewhere on an external old part, that wasnt replaced according to the maintenance schedule, that is interfering with a bad signal to the computer (PCM/ECM). Look at the simple obvious things, when stalling, like not enough gas, or bad air/ gas mixture. Suffocation of air. Even a bad batch of gas or a clogged fuel filter, or a vacuum leak can cause stalling, really. Don't give up on it. If its been behind on the maintenance schedule, then everything you do, regarding updating and replacing old dirty parts will be a positive step anyhow, whether you see results or not, because it could be a combination of things, and the computer may be compensating any bad signals to keep it running. Do the more obvious and lower cost things 1st.

I think im going to do this to my ram 2500 tomorrow. and maybe the plugs too
@RoadTripEddie
@RoadTripEddie 5 лет назад
Yes, you should notice a nice improvent, smoother running, smoother response. Hardest part is getting the throttle body clean, and getting that iac port in the throttle body clean, i had to redo mine a 2nd time, to get it as spotless as it should be. (Otherwise the iac may stick, very small opening for it to breath.) Let me know how it goes.

Man replacing the MAPS was a biiiiiiitch. That little hose was hanging on the old one like an angry ex wife. Great vid, though. Thanks!
@RoadTripEddie
@RoadTripEddie 5 лет назад
It can be on some vehicles. Because access to it may be difficult. For me in a van it's fairly easy because access from the rear of the engine, which is the from front of the doghouse engine cover on the inside of the van. Hopefully you had success and everything worked out great. Take care of my friend and thanks for viewing.

I used what i feel is one of the very best, Bosch. I replaced both (upstream and downstream) factory originals at about ~ 115k miles, when the factory original upstream was starting to be near the edges of being out of range. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VbSP_mQaKwg.html
