best season so far. A lot more wheeling while still filming the good down time. Great balance y'all found.

Yeah. I saw the LWB on the tailgate. Very cool.

I think those tires are around 265/75/16. I have that size and if I stand it up it touches my back seat and back window. Maybe he can run a taller tire due to the LWB giving more cargo space?

Is it just me or does a hood mounted hi-lift jack just seem unsafe. It seems like a crash could dislodge the mounts and send the thing straight through your neck.

First off, epic series been following sense day one. Great work guys!! Do have a question which RTT has performed better on your trip the alucab or James?
@msoverland
@msoverland 6 лет назад
Both are great tents. I haven't been able to sleep in an AluCab tent yet. I can tell you that the James Baroud is easily the best tent on the market for breathability and comfort as compared to any of the other tents I've slept in though.

I would like to know what software/maps you use to find these types of Trails. I have been trying to find places like these in eastern TN where i live and NC. Any help would be appreciated! Keep up the awesome videos!

After all the downhill shots y'all did are factory brakes fine or do you upgrade your brakes? What do you recommend if you do upgrade?
@msoverland
@msoverland 6 лет назад
Never upgraded brakes in 110K miles. Just replaced with OEM or auto store equivalents.

@cfh4201969
@cfh4201969 6 лет назад
Hi, great series! Do you think my 4x4 van/ambulance/camper would fit those trails? Not a box type ambo, more like a van with a high top.
@msoverland
@msoverland 6 лет назад
Man, I don't know. The trails aren't as tight as they are technical. Sounds like a killer rig!

Cool. Dana 60's 4.10's, Truetrac in rear, Electric locker in front, Toyo M/T's, Aluminess Front bumper with winch! Think I'll be OK :) Maybe I'll get a 4x4 van meet together and try this route. I'm in NH. TY for the response.

I have been avoiding asking so I don't look like an idiot, But I will except the Dunce cap and ask anyways, What is the Blue Loop/Hoop knot thing you are using while winching called, what is its purpose, why is it being used as apposed to the standard steel galvanized or anodized, or Painted Steel Hook / Clevis? When the blue rope / hoop thing is a non-complete piece of rope (since the blue rope is not even a complete hoop or circle there for it could come undone, or slip even if bounced upon in certain situations, many situations when the blue hoop circle thing could come undone, un-hooped from itself) VS a steel hook that will not come undone if it still has the safety fastener/lock mechanism still attached and not defective. With a steel Clevis or Hook with the safety lock there is no way of either coming undone and loosing control of the winch cable vs the blue hoop/rope thing your using. Thank You I await your help answers on this matter! Sorry if I sound stupid, I am legitimately seeking answers and I am NOT being a smart - butt.

Those are called soft shackles and they work great. They are lighter weight and safer should your line snap, they don't become a projectile. It may look like they would just fall apart but it is physically impossible for them to unlock once under load, in fact they get tighter. Soft shackles are usually faster deploying and are rated just as high, in some cases higher (if you want to pay for it) than steel. You should definitely check them out for recovery. The downside is they are susceptible to UV light and you need to keep them fairly clean so they don't degrade. They're generally going to have a shorter lifespan than steel. And don't worry about asking questions, we all do this to learn and have fun. Cheers!
