Sorry lol, yes it was a good contact on 20m considering the antenna is made for 10m. Ive made a fair few contacts now using this little whip on varous bands & has tuned well even on 40m. Good luck with your purchase. 👍

I also have the G90 Todd which is also a cracking radio as youll know. The little telescopic whip would definitely tune up no problem, you would just need an PL259 to BNC elbow connector. 👍

Yes it was a surprise to me at the time but ive made several nice contacts on 20m with the little whip. Great fun. I shall be doing a little more portable work now the summer is here. Not that you'd know that today lol.

Would have worked much better if I had stuck a 1kw linear through it too. 🤷‍♂️

Ive had great fun & still am being out portable with this little transceiver. Its not without its quirks & is still really a work in progress but it is setting the benchmark on what thefuture holds. Cant fault mine so far.

The 857 is another good option as is the Xiegu G90 & has the benefit of the scope all be it quite small.

Hi Davey. The Antenna is actually made for 27Mhz but also covers 10m without issues. This contact with S57DX was on 20M but as with all Xiegu's the X6100 tunes it no problem. It's not very efficient on 40m & will need some radials to get the best from it. I have made contacts on 40m with it, but nothing id call dx. Link to the whip is in the comments further down.

I saw a video a few days ago with a ham that was using this radio and a 40 meter whip with a 33 foot counterpoise for a POTA activation. It may not have been as good as a wire antenna in a tree but it worked surprisingly well. 73 de K9KXW

The transceiver name is in the title. Xiegu X6100 is the brand & model. There are many places to purchase from but it really depends on what your location is. Im presuming your in Canada so Radioddity.com is a good starting place.

Hi, S57DX is in the centre part of Slovenia & myself in central part of England so approximately 1500km / 1000 mls. He's a big station in Europe so im sure he was doing most of the work. 👍

@@budgetcomms1169 I really want to try this but I don’t know how well it will work in my area I use a G90 and never have any luck! I run ham sticks though, I just would hate to spend 600 on something that won’t work for me hope o can find a cheaper option to start with

@@Masternater199 The Xoegu G90 is also great transceiver I have one also. Perervere & im sure you will make some nice contacts. A good groundplane is key so get as many radials out as possible. Good luck.
