So sad. I had a 2006 LXE Aliner for 13 years and survived some pretty severe winds in it by throwing a rope over the peak from front to rear and tying it down from the center of the rear bumper to the front A-frame. The new ones come with a different kind of "wind kit" designed to secure the roof halves together. One night the winds almost pushed me off the top of Mt. Magazine in AK, in spite of my wheel chocks and jacks, forcing me to chain it to my tow vehicle to prevent it from moving. Aliners are a little sturdier, as they are made almost entirely of structural insulated panels which are very strong, yet light weight. This is why they cost more than the clones who only make the roof out of SIP panels. We live full time in a heavy Class A motorhome now so usually don't have a problem with the wind if we put our jacks down. However, there are exceptions. We were boondocking on Lake Mead a few years ago and hurricane force winds came through and ripped my awning off, which was rolled up and secured on the side of our RV, breaking the arms off too. It even destroyed the slide topper on the other side. Last year while boondocking in Kansas the wind shook the motorhome so badly one night that I thought we were going to tip over. The next day I discovered that it twisted the RV so much that it popped the windshield about an inch out of the frame. Sometimes mother nature wins no matter what we do. I was in a sturdy older house as a kid, when it was hit by a tornado during Hurricane Betsy in 65. Luckily, everyone survived, as we were all in the front of the house. The back of the house was gone. It looked like someone came along with a chainsaw, sawed the house in two and hauled away the back half. It looked like a tree thrown by the tornado cut the house in half and the wind took the back half cleanly away. Moral of the story is sometimes it doesn't matter what kind of building you're in. The way I look at it is God was merciful. Your dogs and you got to live another day. That's what matters.
I'm so glad the newer ones have more safety in place. I feel like there's always something to learn! Oh my gosh, those stories you shared!! It is so crazy how powerful wind is! I'm so glad you all walked away from those situations.
Sorry for the loss of your camper. One of the reasons I started this full time adventure was a tornado hit my house. No matter how big or small the loss, it still devastating. I'm sure you will figure out your path forward. Maybe it's a great time to get back to basics with just the vehicle. If you ever find yourself in the Las Vegas area and need a hand, just let me know. Just took a camp host position out here. One of the reasons I took the position was being inspired by you doing it out in CO.
Thank you for this comment. It means a lot to me that you'd take the time to share. I'm sorry to hear about your house but it sounds like you made the best of the situation. And how exciting about the position! I'm so glad to have been able to encourage you! Back to the basics seems to be my only viable option at the moment, and I'm learning to be okay and content in the season. I'm trusting that when the time is right, it'll all fall into place. 🤗
This is heartbreaking. Thankfully the pups and you are ok. The worry in your eyes during the storm. Maybe an older casita will work for you. One step at a time. Alone but able! Don’t get discouraged..things happen for a reason. The reason isn’t always clear. Trust in yourself and the higher power! Hugs to you and the pups
I have been waiting to see this video!! First of all considering what all happened to you, you did a great job documented it! This was a very good video!! Hopefully it does really good with views and will help get ya back on your feet. I feel like God has an amazing plan for you and im looking forward to seeing how the next few months pan out for you. Im so sorry you went through this. Sending hugs 🤗
First of all, thank God you and your pups are ok, Nat! Material things can be replaced. You three cannot. I’m sure you are still heartbroken. This was your home. Sending prayers and big hugs to you! 🙏🏻❤️ I love your positivity and respect your sadness and fear in the face of this catastrophe! I have faith that God will bless you, sweet girl. 😊 He makes all things possible.
In the moment you felt defeated with your mattress and your dog brought his toy over to lay on it made me cry. I know that’s a weird moment but Feens is the same way. It’s like at that moment where we want to scream, cry, lay down and give up they bring us the thing that means the most to them. Their little way of cheering us up. I am praying for you and the pups and from one solo traveler to another the worlds biggest virtual hug! One day I’ll give you one in person 🧡
We really don't deserve doge. Their unconditional love is something to strive for! I'm so thankful he did that because it allowed me the chance to stop filming, sit down on the mattress with him, and play. Thank you so much for the kind words!
My heart breaks for you. I understand the fear and loss of your home. Last year, an Az monsoon storm came through where we were staying in our 5th wheel and blew over an 80-foot tree that landed on our rig. We were in it at the time. We were ok, but our rig was totaled. I just prayed and took one day at a time. It all worked out. Hang in there. God bless you ! 🙏🙏
Nat, that was a tough one to watch. 😢❤❤ I know you'll turn this into a positive somehow. Praying for everything to work out for you. There are lightweight teardrop backcountry Campers that might be good to look into. Sending hugs and encouragement. Everything will work out shortly, and be better than the past.🙏🏻❤️
I just bought a 2014 Aliner, the first thing I did was put a wind kit on it and replace the Chinese made tires. I'm hoping I will like camping in it, the only down side is a lack of storage.
I'm so glad you haven't had to experience what I have. It might have been preventable, but my circumstances are different than yours. I did the best I could with the knowledge and information I had at the time. Life is about learning, and I've learned a lot from this. Be safe!
Ugh, girl, my heart just sank to my toes. I'm sorry incredibly sorry this has happened, but Jesus has not left your side. Your faith shines through brighter than ever! Praying for for you Nat, ❤
Oh man! Im so sorry to see that happen to you guys. I think an A frame is fine for certain areas but definitely not for windy places. Well, be positive & Im sure you will get something together again, you are strong!
Theres something to be said about the 4Runner getting spared from the hail. Sorry about your camper. God works in mysterious ways Nat; LFG girl! You got this!
I had to put blankets and rugs over my 4runner for so many storms. (I finally was able to leave that place, but those storms were rough. I wish I could have enjoyed them more lol).
Glad you had insurance on it. So sorry for this happening. Don't let this discourage you. You will find a better option. But I agree with you these A frame campers are horrible. Again so sorry. ❤
@@TammyFese I was afraid for her every time she had to set it up. After it fell and hit her I was thankful she wasn't hurt more than she was. It could have been very serious.
Oh i agree. I my sister and i looked at that type of camper a few yrs ago. I just didnt care much for them. But yes It's a wonder she didn't get hurt worse. Hopefully her insurance will pay it off to invest into something better. @jamessowards3822
Whoa! His was listening… aliner are not good for trade ins, so that storm total it so you can get a lump sum of cash to get a new home. Maybe live out of the forerunner for a bit and save up to get a small camper that your forerunner can pull. Maybe an off road large tear drop…just keep the faith, he is in control and he will lead you out of this.
Sorry for what happened Nat. Thank God you and the dogs are safe. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. There are always new beginnings, it will all work out for you.
I normally don't Comment mid video. Lady it's o k to cry all it's gonna do is make you stronger. Mother nature has a way and when mother nature says not today, we just kind of have to go with the flow. learn from what mother nature is teaching us. You got this.Put one foot in front of the other.Keep moving forward and don't allow those little hiccups To swear you from your Ultimate goal.
Thank you for this... I was so hesitant to open up on RU-vid like this, and I only shared some of it, but I promised to be real with you all, and this was real lol.... it's been a ride, but I think it's going to be an awesome turnaround. 🤗
You are so brave and optimistic. such a good mother to your dogs. I hope everything works out for you and your adorable dogs❤ that from now on things will be easier wishing you all the best🙏
Oh my goodness, thank you for this comment! I've been getting so many comments claiming that I'm not taking care of my boys, and it hurts to hear people's perceptions like that. I love my dogs so much, and they're my #1 priority, so to hear you say that means a lot. 🤗
@@NatMoran I disagree with these people and I’m sorry about how they made you feel. I adore German Shepherd. raised them, trained them. And I’m telling you couldn’t be a better life for a German Shepherd then to be all day by his mom side in amazing places. I see the way you look at your dogs with great love. I can Tell they are you’re first priority. You drove four hours just to get them the right kind of food. Hope the good comments will stay in your heart, and not the bad one♥️
Thank goodness your tent was big enough for your mattress, you and the dogs aren't hurt, and the kindness of strangers 💜 How sad tho to see your home destroyed 😢
Dear Nat, I just viewed your catastrophe of your A-frame. Thank God you and your pups were not injured. I have been worried about you for a couple of months because I knew that A-frame was not safe. Good Samaritans have come to help you. You will move on now because God is bringing all good things to you. I wish that I had been there to help you. Your strong in spirit and body. ❤❤❤
Thank you for watching! It was a matter of seconds before the dogs and I got out of the camper, and it collapsed like that. It was God's protection that kept us safe. It would have been rough if we were inside when it happened. Thank you for your support! It was hard doing it on my own, but I learned a lot about my resilience and perseverance.
Oh wow, that’s crazy! You were so composed and kept such a great attitude. Of course there were a few emotions running wild. It’s obvious that you know all of this stuff is borrowed. Thanks for another good one! So glad to be able to follow along!
Oh Nat I'm so deeply sorry, you've had so many challenges with this camper and now this. Thankful you were not hurt and had the tent as a shelter. Hoping you get enough money from insurance and the next mode of traveling when you are ready. Big gentle hug to you.
I will join the rest of your viewers in saying how sorry to see this happening. This is hard for anyone especially, being by yourself. Your resilience and can do attitude is commendable. On a positive note, it is nice to see how much love and concerns your viewers have towards you. You're an awesome hard working person for others to follow. Please take care of YOU!!! Undoubtedly, you'll be back on your feet soon. I can't wait.
I am so Sorry to hear about your loss of your home, I am so glad that you did not get hurt physically! I could feel your pain for your loss! i admire your strength to overcome it slowly with the lords help. Every tear that ran your Eye I had 5 more run down mine.( Maybe that is why they call me a Big TEDDY BEAR) That was the gift JESUS gave me to help those who can't feel there own pain, eventually I bring it out of them. So GOD works in MYSTERIOUSLY ways. I am so glad you have him in your life. I will pray for you for a good outcome. I will have the Pastor of our CHURCH say a prayers for you, and we have a women group that meet at our church all week long to pray for those in need, so I will drop your name to them Sunday. Your very inspiring to me, you have a lot of courage and integrity!! I have 2 dogs. Reba and Max.
I went thru a rough patch in my life. It was a grind everyday just to live. I was done mentally. However, when I felt like breaking, I would just close my eyes and whisper, "Dear god, please give me the strength". Works everytime.
Nat, so sorry for the loss of your camper. You have been through so much with the short time you’ve owned it. My husband and I have owned an A-Liner a-frame for years and have been through some bad wind storms traveling out west for months at a time with no issue. We have a wind kit on ours that we use whenever we camp. Does not appear that you had one. Hope you find the camper that works for you and your fur babies. You have a wonderful attitude. Hang in there!
This was a hard video to watch, but I’m so thankful you have video fans that are encouraging you to keep on going. You are so resilient. I believe you will find something even better.
WOW, you are one tough girl but my heart goes out to your right now and I am praying for your safety. With the harsh areas you travel to you definitely need something much tougher than an A-frame or pop up. I agree with the other comment, think fiberglass such as Scamp or Casita. Small stick and Tin, no slides, could be light enough also and on the lesser expensive side if you purchase a couple years off. Best of Luck to you!
I love your spirit and your faith! No doubt you are discouraged but remember you are also a survivor. This is an opportunity to show the world your ability. Having survived many hurricanes and one very aggravating tornado, I know you will adapt and design your next great adventure with the lessons learned in mind, making you safer and skillful beyond what you thought possible. You got this… we are proud of you and praying for you. Press on!
Sorry to hear about your A-frame being destroyed 😢 i looked at them for awhile but got a pop-up truck camper and when its windy I put the top down and hunker down till it's over. Hope the insurance can come up with enough funds to get you something else. 🙏
Nat i’m not religious, but I think somewhere in the book it says something to the effect the Lord helps those who help themselves. I said to you once in your comments on every parade, some rain must fall. Think small trailer Casita,Scamp and others mother nature will always be a factor and she can have a cold heart sometimes ,just before she shows you a rainbow. Hang in there girl the rainbows will come ✌️
Check out RV trader and Craigs list sometimes so small ones that are all fiberglass are not cheap but sometimes you can find a pretty good deal and I know from watching your videos and Larry’s that you have some friends that are handy that can help you fix them up
@@NatMoranthere's this real neat trick. You type "wind forecast" and your zip code into Google. And then you don't pitch a tent in a storm, so to speak.
I bought my second A-Frame. Later, Bob Wells said how windy the desert had been that year. I sold it at a loss. I won't ever own another A-Frame, even though I really enjoyed them. I did a simple cargo trailer conversion for camping, and it's the best for me.
Again I'm so sorry you lost your trailer especially in this way. I'm glad you and the boys are ok. It definitely could have been worse. Ive been praying for you while your transitioning to whatever is next. ❤
I am SO sorry this happened to you! You have been remarkably strong and thank you for sharing this experience as I was considering an A-liner. I have a Subaru Forester which can only pull 1500 lbs, so I understand your dilemma on being limited on what you can pull! Once you get your insurance money you might consider the only trailer I figure I can pull: Runaway Campers - Rouser which you can stand up in. Small, but fairly inexpensive and you can get your bed in there...if you put it on a platform a lot can go under it. Empty slate concept, but it does come with A/C and electric (2 power strips). You probably don't want much help because you are so independent, but in the face of this disaster you might consider something I saw & helped by purchasing something for them: An Amazon wish list was posted by someone I follow to help replace items destroyed. Looks like most of your Stuff is okay, but if you need help replacing something it could be a good way to do so...Maybe something new like a tent A/C unit that runs on propane? ((BIG HUGS)) to you! Stay strong!
Nat, I'm new to your channel. But I wanna say there are more campers than you think your 4runner can tow. Currently I'm towing a Jayco Jay flight 195rb with my 18' 4Runner. Wish you nothing but the best!
Love the videos. You have amazing talent and we all love to see it. We all try and pick our specialty, and sometimes can adjust what we do somewhat. For example - there are RU-vidrs that have figured out that setting up and camping mainly in storms gets them hundreds of thousands of views per episode. Hence millions of views. Hence a very nice lifestyle once the google money starts rolling in. The basic camping in the desert videos don’t garner much attention. Good luck kid - just adjust a little. Movement is life. Keep growing. I’ve seen quite a few tubers adjust and are doing so well now. You are young and awesome !!!
WOW! that was insane! I'm glad your o.k. that's the main thing, I'm really sorry this all happened to you, I'll say a prayer that it all works out for you. take care,🤙
Nat, I am so very sorry for this awful situation you found.your self in with the a-frame. I feel guilty as an a-frame owner I didn’t give you advice on how to deal with severe wind. Especially since you did respond to my recommendation to use rv tape for your window leak and I had your ear. I and other a-frame owners should have helped you with this. I also fully understand your reluctance to consider owning this type of camper again. You are one tough cookie young lady and whatever path you take forward I am sure you will find success and happiness.
Thank you! I'm a firm believer it all happened the way it was supposed to. I think the important thing now is learning from the mistakes or unknowns and helping others not have the same outcome. I'm really appreciative of all your recommendations and support!!!
That is so bad Nat....you are handling things so well. Maybe you should start a go fund me page. I would be happy to contribute to that. Hopefully, your insurance company will pull through for you. Take care and I hope things get better for you.
PTL You are still alive could have been worse your healthy no injuries to you or dogs 🐶 you’ll recoup a guy Slim potato head went through a terrible storm in his camper terrified him sorry you came out of it okay 👍 so happy trails moving forward
I cried my ass off watching … and had smiles along the video with your great attitude. I’m sorry my friend. There are many of us that will help if needed.. I would be happy to help if I can? Fluk hang in there and give those dogs a kiss from me … how can you be contacted?
Just want to give you a big hug…. You got this work the problem… You and the dogs are safe, keep moving forward…. In the military we say Charlie Mike….
Oh Nat, sorry to see thid happen. Keep the faith! The trials make us stronger. Have you seen slim potatoheads channel. He had the a frame and when to a small fiberglass camper. That might be a good option for you if you haven't already considered it.
I'm so very sorry about your camper. I hope the insurance company does right by you. Might I gently make a suggestion? Your vehicle could easily tow a T@B 320. They can be pricey, but there are used ones I've seen that were reasonable. I have a 400, which is probably bigger than you would want. However, they are very well made and hold up. Even during not so great weather. 😢
I just found your channel and after watching E13, this is a God-send. That rig is too much for a woman to handle. Have you considered getting a van or an ambulance that you could convert? I would have extra tie-downs to those windy days. Good luck and now to watch the remainder of your videos. Take care and God be with you.
It was a lot of lessons learned, that's for sure! Lol. I've been considering an ambulance or box truck build, but everything is soooo expensive. I'd love a van but they're out of my budget.
Oh my gosh!!! I'm so very sorry you had to go through that extreme experience!! Am I crazy to think those A-frame campers should be made to hold up better in wind? I hope the insurance pays out enough to help you. Maybe a teardrop camper is an option? Fully enclosed, one piece. Keep the Faith Nat❤
Thank you for the encouragement! It's been tough, and comments like this help me so much! I've been looking at the teardrops. They're cute! Insurance gave me a fair price, but it's not enough to get a solid trailer (at least not yet. I'll keep looking!). 🤗
Don't worry I won't ever buy one. They charge way to much for that ceap material thank goodness I could never afford one because it kept me on the outside looking in now I know never buy any of it terrible bless your heart them sweet dogs glade u guys are alive that's what matters man ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hitting the like button almost felt wrong. But it is to send a virtual fist pump your way and to help the channel. So gutted for you. I hope you get a solution so very soon.
Nat M. Bummer about your pop up camper, your home, but I believe this is a small blessing for you. I pray that it is. As for you puppy laying in the puddle, nooooooo way would he be on my mattress after that. Recently I purchased a RTT and I would almost recommend that, however I don’t know how your pups could sleep with you. I’ve been thinking through how to bring my dog with me on my trip starting mid August and I don’t think I’ll be able to take her because I really do t want to carry my doggy up and down a ladder. I do pray your insurance folks get you enough money back so you can get yourself some sort of replacement. Best of luck to you ma’am and maybe I’ll bump into you during my travels. God is with you always, trust in him. Take care
This is a great idea! I did live in a RTT for a couple years with my boys. I taught them how to go up the ladder with a ramp. It's a great way to travel and have extra space! I did my tent time though. Lol. I'm ready for more space. 🤗🤗
@@NatMoran I’ll have to shoot a pic of what my rig looks like. I’ll be heading back to WA at the beginning of the month. If I have the time, I’ll stop by the national parks that are along the route. And I absolutely understand about being over the tent living. Nat M, best of luck to yoh
Sorry 😞 for all your losses ! Yes follow the path the Lord makes for you through the wilderness. Love ❤️ that passage from Isaiah:“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts
Check out Outbound Campers out of Kearney Nebraska. I had one built. You can customize your build, they are affordable and I pull mine w my 4Runner!! ❤❤❤
I am so sorry for the experiences you have had recently. I truly hope folks don't get mad with my sharing some info or actually a question. In this video, at the 7:43 minute mark, the man on the top of the video walks over to his right and moves a metal bar from the right of the camper to the left. This bar (and there is one on the other side) is called a high wind lift assist. It can be used for folks, short ones like me, to help do the set up or left until the end of the set up to set in place then. These bars are intended to help keep the camper intact in high winds. This video shows the Aliner product which is an a-frame trailer. Many campers have used this camping trailer for many years in all types of weather and have great testimonies. Just wanted to share some info in case it is helpful to anyone. Again, so sorry for this beyond awful experience. But like all things, they all work out for good for them that love The Lord and are called according to His purpose. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2z9tJd6T8V4.html
We have had an Aliner Classic for years and have traveled extensively for months at a time all over the country and endured many high wind storms. You are correct when you point out about the wind kit on the Aliner video. My husband installed a wind kit on ours as soon as we purchased and never have had a problem with the high winds. I feel terribly for Nat but maybe she wasn’t aware it was needed when she purchased it. I really hate to see a frames get a bad rap, that’s all.
@@donnasayles3528 Thank you for the confirmation. We are looking forward to getting our Aliner soon. The size is perfect for us since we are going from tent camping to "all this space"; haha. We are trying to learn all we can from others' experiences. We live in TN which is more windy than people realize. So your response is reassuring. Thanks so much.
@@deborahsimpson2732, happy trails to you! You will love it. Just a rule of thumb, always put up the wind kilt. So easy to do. We all know how quickly the weather can change. Hope you will be venturing west in it. We leave soon (from Florida) for California Sierra Nevada range.
Hey Nat, have you looked at Oliver Campers before? They're a solid one piece fiberglass camper and they're supposed to be AWESOME !! They are a 4 season camper with insualted walls hence making them suitable for all seasons. They may be a bit pricey but you can pick up a used one for less. Maybe something to look into ?!?!
Please don't give up on pursuring your dream. They say everything happens for a reason, and perhaps this was a reason for getting a better camper. God does things in mysterious ways. Look into the campers I mentioned above or another brand of solid one piece campers, afterall this is your home you'll be living in. Please don't give up !!!
Haha, I 100% agree on leaving sooner! I had just found a job with full benefits, though, and I was trying to hang tough. It's all working out the way it's supposed to, but shew, hindsight sure is 20/20, lol.
Praise the Lord you and fur babies are safe. 💯💖 Only one question. Does weather app not predict these types of storms? As a native Californian I honestly don’t know much about weather other than 75° and ☀️
I really love this comment bc growing up in socal, I can relate to your comment on so many levels!! And thank you for being so kind in your comment! Yes I am able to track mostly what's going on, but sometimes we had hail when it didn't call for it, we'd have wind gusts in the 60mph range when it called for 30mph, so it has a mind of its own, but I usually could plan. The challenge is that since I was working there, i could not just up and leave. I ended up closing that camper 60% of the time I was there because of the weather, lol. It just wasn't a good location for this type of camper.
Well, to look at the silver lining: At least you no longer have to worry about trying to fix that leak in the rear window. You could probably tow a smaller trailer behind that 4 Runner. A non-pop up. Hate that happened to ya, and I hope the insurance company didn't screw ya over.
I want to go to NH so badly! I have 6 states left before I've hit all 50, and NH is one of them. I'd love to plan a fall trip one year. I had friends nearby but they weren't able to come. My dad drove out from CA to help me get my extra stuff so it wasn't sitting outside. It's been a process. Lol.
