Today I’ll be taking you through my thought process on how I’m building my newest, compact pedal board.
Regular viewers might already know that I’m a long-time user of the Line 6 Helix modeling family so it’s probably no surprise that the primary “brains” of this new board will be my HX Stomp. I can get all the tonality I need out of that unit and it also doesn’t hurt that it’s super compact!! From there, I’ll describe how I plan to expand on that functionality with a 2-button footswitch, an external tuner, as well as a wireless transmitter/reciever combo to allow me to run around the stage.
All of that is fine, but I think I’m most excited about the way I’m planning on powering the whole thing! It’s true that most of these pedals comes with it’s own power supply. It’s also true that many companies offer pedalboard power supplies. But with the higher amperage demands of the wireless unit, not to mention the HX Stomp itself, I can’t get by with any average power brick. As it turns out, the Strymon Ojai is the perfect solution! When I combine that with a Voodoo Labs current Doubler, I can provide all the power I need to everything in this build.
