IP legal tyranny will also discourage innovation and make people walk on eggschells, because everything will get privatised like the public ressources of a country, you are a junk channel

So very sad to hear about the passing of Mike Schussler - he was one of my go-to's on economic matters - another one of the good guys, gone too soon. Thanks for the good show as always @David @CRA @Chris.

Intellectual-property rights do exist but they're exceeding unimportant compared to physical property rights which SA disrespects even more.

The ANC regime has a weak grasp on the value of competence, diligence, experience and other intangible assets. This is reflected in their appointments of cadres and the implementation of race-based employment. Developing knowledge and expertise takes time and the abovementioned resources. This is subject to risks. If one may lose the rights to these intangible assets, there's less incentive to invest and develop in SA. There's also cadres' delight in buying new things from abroad. That kills local industry too

Update how truethfull is it that when submitting a screen script to a movie production you don't really have to apply for a copyright certificate but just embed a copyright disclaimer at the bottom of your script cover page and in that way it is automatically protected in a way that whenever your script is stolen, SA copyright law may back you up?If it's true whilst it is not the case with other countries where they consider copyright certificate then what happens when a SA writer partners with a foreign movie production in a way of sending the script to that production as a partnership to produce it,what happens if they could infringe the script idea?
