A tutorial on the functionality of the SAAB 9-3 '07 on aircon button marked "AC OFF". Is it "ON" or is it "OFF"? Watch this short guide. Automatic climate control
I am trying to work out why the air conditioning is on when the light is off and off when the light is on ... Strange , surely it should be the other way around . Was it an Irishman who designed this ? ha ha ha ha . I watched this a number of times to let it sink in . I am now programmed to accept , in this instance , when light is on then AC is off ..... Strange , but true :)
A lot of people seem to find it counter-intuitive, but I have to say I find it quite logical. The aircon off button replaces the econ button you find in many other cars. The functionality is the same, just labelled differently. Thanks for watching.
This is similar to the ECON button on older Saab automatic climate control systems. The system is designed to control the function of the air conditioning automatically. If you want to over-ride the system and turn the AC off you'd have to hit the ECON button. This uses the same principle but is more straight forward by actually labeling the button AC OFF. From this video I learned that you can control the functioning of the system using SETTINGS in the SID!
I'm not sure what the issue is. There's a button that says "AC Off" and it has an LED to let you know if the function of the button is active or not, so if it's illuminated, then the AC is off, surely that is self-explanatory.
I was told by a mobile air conditioning chap, while he was topping up my air con unit, that you should run your a/c once a month for 10 minutes even in winter to keep the system pressurised .....just a bit of useful info for your viewers 😉
I fly a Saab 37 Viggen and have also AC-issues. When I am at cruising speed at 40.000 ft and turn on the afterburner, the AC stops. Taking a left bank decensding to 20.000 ft the AC springs in action with four bars. Lifting the nose 45 degrees and full throttle, the AC decides to go back to two bars, racing the temperature halfway because the system thinks (!) I put it in that position before takeoff. My plane has the same AC. Nor in my fighter plane, or Saab 9-3, I get fully leveled with the AC.
Don't forget that it's not just AC but ACC (auto climate control) so it will vary it's output according to conditions, particularly the sunlight sensor on the dash centre.
@@CycloneCyd don't mention that! The sunlight sensor! When I fly up site down the sensor thinks " it's night, no cooling needed"! And under those circumstances I NEED cooling because I am so stressed. It's my upinion that it's easier to fire a nuclear cruise missile than handle a Saab ACC. But...... there's no better car for money than a Saab!!!!
Ok my sabb my light is on n my AC is ice cold n always jumps to full blast when newly started. My light never goes off either does that mean somethings wrong with it? I have the 07 year. I just bought it too? Still learning. This was an excellent video by the way!!!😁
My AC is set to off in the system setting, and 9 times out of 10 it stays off, but sometimes when I start up the car, it turns itself on out of nowhere. Is anyone else having this problem?
Hi, are you switching the aircon ON manually using this button sometimes?? If you are and then you restart the car within 2 hours of last using it, it remembers your settings and retains them for the next drive cycle. Only after 2 hours does it return to "auto" settings. PS you should leave the aircon ON. With a variable displacement compressor, the load on the engine reduces as the journey progresses until the cabin reaches an "equilibrium" and the aircon is basically "ticking over". You're more likely to have problems (big $$) if you don't use it enough and you're saving virtually nothing turning it off.
@@CycloneCyd Not that I'm aware of, it's the dead of winter where I am in New England, so there's no benefit of having the AC on lol. Maybe I'm accidentally pressing the button sometimes and I just don't realize it, but I don't see how that would happen. And tbh the reason I usually have it off it because it's too cold lol and I want maximum heat in the cabin. And what do you mean by ticking over?
I am having an issue with the heat... We recently replaced the blower motor and the resistor and resistor plug (due to the 4th terminal being blown on both the resistor and plug). Now when the heat is on it turns off by itself in 45 seconds to a minute and a half. I can turn it back on but it just continues to shut right back off.... Any suggestions?
Hi dubb, TBH for me it's perfectly logical and correctly labelled. It does exactly the same function as the "econ" button in other cars. Now, 'econ' (short for economy) really is a misnomer, since turning the aircon compressor off leads to such a tiny improvement in economy (in modern cars anyway) that it's probably only measurable under laboratory conditions. Whereas I assert AC Off stands for 'aircon compressor off', which is exactly what the button does. No more, no less. The light merely lets you know the function has been activated.
Just subed, my 9-5 the acc and fans inside just turn off while driveing what could this be pleasee and also the fans cone on full blast when I start her up ? Please any help would be greatly appreciated
So, if you press it, its on but its off, so if its off its on, press it and its off. Press it again and it's on untill you press it again and it's on. - Saab
@@CycloneCyd it's just a bit of tongue in cheek. I can honestly say I've never turned to RU-vid to try and figure out my aircon though. Every car I've ever owned has had a button with A/C on it and you press it, then the ac comes on.
What I want to know is why the heat works better when the AC is on. If I hit that button so that the AC is off then my windows will fog up eventually. Does everyone else do what I do And leave the AC on even when I’ve got the temp up to 74°F?
@@robertbrynin9451 Hi Robert, 😂😂 yeah, I agree in general. Loads of functions are being transfered to "smartscreens" these days, often beneath several menu "layers". This "tech" has advanced far far quicker than the typical end user is able to keep up with and so becomes confused. I too am a proponent of "KISS" - Keep It Simple Stoopid. 🖖🖖
