I swapped out all the speakers in my 93 over the weekend & your videos were a massive help; so big thanks for them! I also found out that luckily you can do the rears without removing the seat bottom, as someone seems to have rounded out the bolts holding them on & I couldn't get them to budge.
Hallo, was für ein Aufwand, so viel Arbeit. Ich fahre den großen 9.3 Aero 2.8L als Cabrio. Ich musste viel Lehrgeld bezahlen über 15.000€ habe ich insgesamt bei drei CAR HiFi Läden ausgegeben um guten Klang im Cabrio zu bekommen. Mit diversen Verstärkern neuer Alpine Head-Unit, den teuersten Lautsprechern von Focal UTOPIA besserer Verkabelung Sound Prozessor und und und. Der Saab macht es einem nicht einfach! Es ist natürlich eine Sache des Anspruchs und was man investieren möchte. Meine Erwartung wurde nie erfüllt, so wie ich es mir gewünscht hätte. Es sollte bei den Umbauten immer alles original aussehen.
nice video, I was wary of how to do it, its also useful on how to change the cards (I spare cards)... its given me food for thought on the process on upgrading the rear speakers on my 04 plate. Thanks for taking the time to video and share
I have a 2004 9-3 Convertible with the 7 speaker system. I was able to replace the speakers by just popping off the grills. The screws and speakers on my car were accessible WITHOUT removing the rear seat of the side panels. Check before you do. I am very glad I did.
@@jpuxx Yes I also have the 2004 model, and you're right - they are 3.5" speakers exactly like the dash ones, and yes you can remove the speakers just by taking off the grill. Spot on, thank you.
@jpuxx Thankyou very much for this comment. I was looking at replacing mine but dreading stripping the interior.... just been out to check if mine popped off. They do.... and 2 screws to undo for the speaker to come out. New speakers ordered already. Thanks
Really helpful video! I have an issue with my 93 where the screen does not turn on and I also get no noise from indicators or parking sensors. Would this be the amp1 that needs replacing?

Brilliant video! Searched the net for hours for a picture of that amp on the left rear, finally! A questions if I may please? Did you by any chance get a picture and/or part number? Need a plug wiring diagram because I am planning to run FROM that amp output to an aftermarket amp in the boot, so need FR/FL, RR/RL and a wire to switch on my amp (big wire coming from battery allready drawn). Crutchfield indicated that 3.5" speakers such as the Kicker 47KSC3504 would fit in both the dash corners and the rear seat side panel in my car, which is a 2004 9-3 convertible (7 speaker setup). Yet that doesn't seem to tally with this video (and description) wrt the rear seat speakers. Is their claim erroneous? I actually found this video looking for instructions on how to pop the grille for the side panel speakers, so I haven't actually seen the speakers to make a size comparison. Should they just pop out with a pry tool/spudger? They didn't seem very cooperative earlier (cf. the dash grilles which popped out easily).
Crutchfield are a respectable company and they're probably right. It's quite possible that Saab changed the design during the prefacelift 9-3 run. This car is a prefacelift from 2006. I haven't looked at an earlier prefacelift to see if the speakers are different.

I’ve also found your vid on the head unit replacement, the flush fitting one not the 55inch wide screen! So I’ll get that done too. I take it you haven’t done a door speaker replacement vid, presumably because the American bloke did it. I’d rather watch you do it I must say!
Fuck me how long did it take to change dash,doors,rear speakers and head unit! And last one do I need to purchase any additional panel clips! As I am attempting this over the weekend
Not really, as the space available is only sufficient for mid and high frequencies. Low frequencies would require a much deeper speaker. It's better to use the designated space behind the seats for 6x9 speakers or a subwoofer for the low frequencies, but you will need an aftermarket amp for these options
I have the same issue as you: I believe my 2004 convertible has 3.5" in the rear. But I haven't managed to get the grilles off so far. Can you just pop yours? Is there some trick to it?
