I'm glad to see an easy water pump replacement on a saab 9-3 V-6. Contrasting to the difficult replacement on a 9-3 2.0 t.. Great post Auto A..

Great video! Good catch on the engine support, and yes it is one of the easiest parts to replace on that motor. On the v6 leak checks, check your email. Sent pics. There are 3 gaskets right above that pump. Hope you already got them all. If not, it is an easy job now that you are used to working in that area.

@@chrisbartkowicz2759 where the coolant pipe connections hit the engine, right above the pump. Actually tgere are only 2, a pipe o-ring and an outlet gasket. The third place is the thermostat assembly on the right side of the engine, which has o-rings and a tendency to leak

I think it was an issue on earlier models, they used a harder metal from 07 onwards, some of the online chat groups have chasis numbers and dates. I spent the day with a guy who swapped mine for new US imported chains, massive 6/7 hour job.

I was wondering if you can replace the serpentine belt through just the engine bay, online it says to take off wheel well liner and go from down there and the engine bay. Thanks for all the videos and for being so responsive, you're a lifesaver!

thanks! it's probably best to take off the wheel liner. i imagine it would be very very difficult if not impossible to do it without the wheel off

So youve always been who i go to when i need help, i also own the 2.8 and been tracking down all my leaks as well so hopefully you can help me. Have you ever had a coolant leak coming off the starter then it drips down the oil filter housing then to the ground ... So somewhere above the starter i just cant find it

Great video. Having problems with mine. Getting the coolant level low warning but noticed the cap was bad. Replaced cap and now getting dripping from overflow hose after car has been driven and it sits. maybe I overfilled tank? Maybe put new tank in to eliminate that is a problem? I don't see any leaks from tank or seams and hoses are all good. Not getting any bubbling in the tank when cap off so I don't believe it's a head problem. Could it be a thermostat problem? Re he car heats and cools like it should and the temp gauge pegs at the usual half way mark!

maybe you overfilled it; could also be a bad tank if you already replaced the cap

Saab in the WIS to release the belt tension on the 2.8 V6 engine says to use the 1/2 insert tool. The tool you used to release tension which insert did it have? 1/2 or 3/8? There is some confusion as to which insert should be used and perhaps the one indicated in the 1/2 WIS is incorrect and the 3/8 one should be used ?

it doesn't take much time to jack up the car and remove the necessary parts from below. it'll be easier that way

thermostat was not replaced; its on the opposite side of the motor

I have a ‘07 Aero. What do you think about Saab returning? They haven’t formally announced it but they did stress to “keep current Saab owners” on the road as long as possible with the parts warranty announcement at the top of the year. They also didn’t allow a Chinese company to take over the Saab Automobile tm. Not gonna lie, I only want another Saab to replace mines whenever that is

Just a heads up: I’d advice you to replace the bolts to the engine mount, they are on most cars, stretch bolts that need a certain torque and degrees on them so after they’ve been taken off most manufacturers advice to replace them. Great DIY though, looks like a dead easy job :)

How much farther to get to the timing chains? Going to pick up a tx that has the p0016 and p0018 and needs the timing chains replaced.

Did you have to take off the axle I went to Christian brothers auto in Hixson Tennessee and they took off the axle to get to it and charged 15 hundred dollars and are taking like 23 hours to fix it.

Just out of curiosity, how much more work would it be to change the belt at the same time? Is it even doable with just that mount removed?

When I did the belt I took the wheel and fender liner out too (see video I linked where I replaced the gaskets). Not very hard! :)

Ouch. the timing chain on yhe 2.8T is a car killer, big big job. Most technicians say engine out!!

i have a 2004 Saab Arc 9.3 Turbo...i purchased it at 160,000 miles 6 months later I replaced the water pump and overflow reservoir, replaced valve covers and pan gasket, replaced A/C compressor and turbo. left me stranded on the road...Whats next? Everyone says these are great cars im just not seeing it... Whats next? can you tell me so I can go ahead and buy the parts now.....uggg

haha yeah. On my B235R i spent 6 hours to change the waterpump. Looks like there is enough space in a Saab with 6 cyl. engine. Working at 4cyl in 9-5 is pain in the ass sometimes.

Saab_lyfe190 yeah i never go to the shop they was charging 900 . went to my mechanic he only charged 300. i could of did it my self but i wanted to see how my mechanic did it . He basically worked from the top of the engine .
