Thank you . I recently bought a 2005 9-5 aero wagon for my friend and the cylinder gets stuck. This will be such a time saver compared to other solutions I was seeing.
Thanks for the helpful video...for anyone wondering this is the same process on my '96 900 just a different cover to remove to gain access. Once removed clean & soak with brake cleaner & then spray it good with dry lube..turn the key a million Xs to make sure it's all free & smooth & you should b good to go after reinstalling. Just keep lightly wiggling the key in the ON position while depressing the button with your tool (piece of metal hanger works fine) & it'll eventually pop rt out
I can't wait to try this in the next couple weeks. My kids started driving it more and they have probably splashed countless Starbucks drinks in the vicinity of the ignition. Right now, when you remove the key, the radio stays on and the car "dings". Basically the car thinks the key is left in the ignition. So far no bad power drain, but a full cleaning will hopefully take care of things.
I have the key but it will not move from the lock-position. So, is there eny way to get the ignition cylinder removed while the key is in lock-position?
What can you do if you need to replace the cylinder with no key, will forcing with a flat screwdriver will do, is there a proper way of doing this without the key? Thanks!
No, I don't think you can do it without the key because you had the wiggle the key in there to release the lock to begin with. That was in combination with poking the tab
My ignition won’t turn at all (stuck on lock position). When the door is open the car chimes as if the key were still in the ignition when it isn’t. Fob buttons don’t work either. Any clue what the problem is or how to fix?
I heard it's a pretty common failure point in the 9-5's. Probably best to just replace it. Grab one from your local pull & pay. And make sure you get the warranty!! I'm about to be pulling one myself in a few hours 😅
That's what worked for me I tried it in the off position and the on once I took it out of the car it worked between the on and off if I had it on off it would not depress the little latch
