Back on the 5 door turbo! This time we're taking a big step and welding on the new belly pan along repairing the right hand front inner arch. Unfortunately the new belly pan has been chopped about in the past but at least most of the rot has gone!

Aside from a couple "whites of the eyes" moments, I was cheering and applauding the whole way through. If travel were possible I would come sit in your shop and be your cheering section. Well done.

I like how you made the little square perfect around the 10 min mark. Then covered it. Much respect for your dedication.

Hello, Nice to see that your work is coming along. That spot welder sure looked professional, much as the rest of your work. Keep at it. 👍 Regards from a 900 classic owner.

This Docu is amazing. I also have a 99 and I think it is one of the best cars ever made. Your work on this turbo is awesome. Keep going on. Greetings from Karlsruhe...

This must be my dream car (not sure why) so it's fantastic to see it progressing. I used to see this very vehicle every week from the train when I regularly travelled to Newcastle for work. It was sitting on a driveway just north of Durham for a few years. I'm glad it's actually being restored.

Wow it must be odd seeing it on RU-vid now then. I heard it was in Durham on someone's drive, I do need to get some more history on it.

Especially since it is an even more unusual 5dr turbo 😀

Yes my first Saab and it's a 5dr Turbo! I'm hopefully planning to buy a 99 GL this year which will tide me over until this is done.

Great work on the car so far! Thanks for the video. How do you feel about the progression of the project so far? Is the pace of restoring the car where you prefer or do you wish you had more time? Also, what is the availability and difficulty like for finding parts and body panels for the car? Thanks again for the video and I hope the pandemic hasn't been getting in the way of shop work too much!

Hi, great update, I'm also restoring a 99 albeit a humble GL. Dont suppose the original drivers wing you removed had the front lower section still in one piece did it? As I need that section as a replacement.

Hi Jason, great to hear you're restoring a 99 too. Unfortunately both the front and rear lower sections had completely gone on mine. I feel your pain though since good second hand panels are really hard to find now

Hi Martin, I thought as much but thanks for the reply. Good luck with it and update the videos quicker 😀 👍.

I've also got a 99 GL sitting and waiting for me to crack into it. It was given to me 8 months ago, and I've not dug into it yet. It doesn't look anywhere as deep as this project, more mechanical than bodywork. Sat in a barn for over a decade, parked due to a failed head gasket.
