It is a gorgeous aircraft. The best looking of the "Canard" fighters, (Rafale, Typhoon, Gripen). Imagine if they also added thrust vectoring as well. It would be insanely maneuverable.

@@warbird3517 In what, speed or maneuverability, because the gripen beats that in both, I could understand maybe patriotism, nostalgia or culture though, its a really cool and great jet for it's time also

Horten Stealth the fastest Jet of it's time with Just a reduced Radar Profile instead of an flying Origami which is too slow to be Not Taken down faster than the inventors thought. The Gripen is flying in a Pack of Gripens. A Pack of Gripens Take down any Jet, any ... Always one step adead ... Other Jets are lacking multi-spatial agility. The only reasonable two-engined Version of a Gripen would be a Modenized Version of the Horten Bomber. Long(er) Range, Higher payload and best aerodynamic incl. outstanding speed-potential. @@worthlesscoala He said that JAS probably would fly eights around the f-15,16 and 18,s wich is the most probable planes it would go up against. Not sure how it will be against a F-22 raptor though.

Agree that she's a beautiful bird. Of the three main delta wing aircraft with canards, the Typhoon, Rafale, and Gripen, the Gripen is by far the best looking. The single engine gives it a sleekness the two others don't have; the twin engines makes those two look too bulky for their length. Other beautiful aircraft I love: I love the classic looks of the F-5 (and the never mass produced F-20). And on the other end of the spectrum from the small single engine fighters I love the F-14, Top Gun had a lot to do with that. Also, I have to mention the beauty of the F-23, which I wish they made over the Raptor. It's design is futuristic and elegant at the same time. Just a badass, dangerous looking aircraft.

@@goldorak3251 It's funny you mention that. I work at an aviation museum and the first plane you see hanging from our lobby is a pink P-40, done up in the desert camouflage the RAF used in WW2. It was the aircraft the museum's founder loved to fly the most. She was a female aviator in WW2, known as a Wasp for the program called Women Airforce Service Pilots. Their job if I recall correctly was to ferry aircraft from their factories to the ports from where they would be shipped overseas. The RAF also used pink camouflage in Desert Storm on their Tornadoes so perhaps a pink Gripen isn't that farfetched. Also, I'm curious why you thought about the pink paint.

@@Jon.A.Scholt You are talking about washed-out pink color. If your main concern is to fly a "beautiful aircraft", I suggest you paint it in bright pink, and call it Barbie plane.

@@Andre-ff4hp As for aero engines from Sweden Volvo can build excellent engines (yes Volvo has an Aero division). The current Gripen uses F414G from GE which is a more powerful version of the F414-GE-400 from the F/A-18 Super Hornet.

@@eherlitz Thanks for info, Croatia buiing 12 fighting airplane last 5-7years, last deal was droped down bcz F16 Barrac was mix of lzraely electronics and US. technology and it become problem. Respect to Sweedn as country and its engeeners who made very nice airplane, l would like to see Gripen in Croatian air force.We have MIG21 still, lol, every 2-3years one of 21s drop down, last time pilot catapulted himself, but unfortunately airplane kill cow...

Switzerland and Sweden are two different European countries, and the JAS.39 Gripen is from Sweden. Keeping those countries apart is a common mistake around the world and you are not the first or the last to do so. Stay healthy!!.

@@MUCSpotter We used to train with China by fighting in long distance battles. Chinese fighters are not able to overcome our Gripen in the medium term. For the bickering, we used older rockets, not IRIS-T, and therefore lost at close range.

@qm leu é bixa Speak English dude. Stop being rude. Google translate says that you claim it has great radar and speed. Both of these claims are completely false. The Gripen Es (not "NG" as that is just a prototype name) radar is the ES-05, with about 980 T/R modules at about 7.5 kW input/output ratio. The F-35 has over 1600 T/R modules at better than 5.5 kW input/kW output ratio. The F-35 combines this with 360 degree IR coverage thanks to EODAS, and full sensor fusion. The Gripen Es radar is not even top 5, let alone of the best in the world. Additionally, the Gripen E is anemic when it comes to speed, being slower than even the F-16. It has low thrust-to-weight ratio, is not capable of supercruise, and gets easily weighed down the moment it puts on weapons. I am saying this as a Swede. I know that Brazil bought the Gripen E and that you Brazilians are not known for your intelligence, but maybe you could pull your head out of your sensitive anus for a second and examine the plane for what it is instead of what you wish it to be?

@768PP So you want to buy vastly more expensive planes, because you're constantly afraid the enemy will hit you in the back, in a 5th generation war jet? Do you know how fast these things go? Do you understand the added price tag for comforting paranoia? When US NASA needed a pen to be able to take notes in space, they invented an ink pen that could work in zero gravitation at great cost of money. The Soviets just used pencils instead. If you cannot think smart, you choose the F-35. If you're smart, you choose the Gripen, because questioning problems that are irrelevant isn't that interesting. Have it ever struck you that the Gripen was designed that way because it would be more effective?

Its because using pencils, which contain lead, is a really, and I do mean, really, terrible idea in a zero gravity environment with electronics all around. Which is why the Russians *also* developed specialized ink pens, in fact, they ordered them from the same company. There is nothing "smart" about the Gripen compared to the F-35, just like there is nothing "smart" about your little myth. All it shows is that there are a lot of ignorant people around who do not understand the limitations of the machines they are overglorifying. The F-35 is superior in every relevant metric.

Why? Did you actually build this or design it? Take part in manufacturing? If you're gonna be proud, be proud of your own achievements. Not something a team of other people did and you just happened to be born nearby. You can cheer their success, but be proud of your own achievements. Not something you never had a hand in doing besides paying taxes.

I don't think the Gripen and their pilots ever had combat training. The US fighters have combat training daily with live ammo. I only seen the Gripen at airshows.
