Well, seeing how SARS-covid-1 originated in China back in the early 2000's, it stands to reason that a mutation of that same virus, namely SARS-covid-2 (aka Covid19), would've occurred in the same country.

I've added Allsides .com to my list of resources. They have bias ratings, a search engine for news and whatnot. A nice resource to help you get closer to knowing what the "real" news. You still have to use your head and decipher it yourself, but it helps to have tools to assist.

Also, around Fort Detrick there were numerous clusters of "mysterious pneumonia" and the "vaping illness" which was debunked by Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic as not being exogenous lipoid pneumonia (meaning it wasn't from vaping but rather the lipids were of an endogenous source like in COVID-19 which is what it was)

When Randolph Hearst was the king of news, there were over 3,000 competing news orgs. So no matter how hard Hearst or NYT pushed their agendas, there were always plenty of other sources to publish the rest of the story and truth found its way into the debate. All those other reporting organizations also resulted in a lot more of what was going on being reported, which is another deficit we suffer from today. The worst people are those who say "Don't question the science or the scientists". I'm no scientist but it's my understanding that questioning what's been established so far is kind of the point. You should generally go with whatever the data bears out, but should always view it with some skepticism and remain open to other possibilities.

The biggest thing I have not heard about the lab leak is that every lab in the world will suffer if this lab is pegged with this leak then they will all be suspect and lose funding or be shut down as dangerous. They all use the same standards for safety in order to get certified as a class 1, 2, 3, or 4 labs. So if this happened here it could happen at any lab. Asking the scientist about the lab leak is like asking politicians to pass term limits and spending limits.

I was kicked off FB for 24hrs. after sharing your first video supporting the lab-leak theory. I happened to hike part of the AT last year with a genetic scientist that told me one of her associates had found several markers in the virus that indicated it had been developed in a lab.
Its odd...very early I read in my internet travels that the sequences of this virus had been published by China then pulled off the internet. Then my understanding was that viruses can be unlocked by people who understand that kind of thing..they can track back to when they originated and yes, if they are natural or man made... but soon there wasn't much discussion there. Now its popping up again. To me this should be an easy determination. I also understand they were testing on humanized mice... we don't hear about that either....

China's explanation at last January was that it came from Horseshoe bats from a Wuhan wet market. There are no species of Horseshoe bats near Wuhan. Closest colony is in Yunan Province over 800 miles away....Enough said.

There certainly are other things to be said. They first speculated that it came from horseshoe bats, which definitely ARE sold in wet markets in the area of Wuhan. The hypothesis of the bat source was certainly feasible since they had traced an earlier strain of Sars covid back in 2017 to 1 particular colony of the bats traced back from the very same wet markets. As to the bats, they live throughout southeast china all the way west to Wales. Their colonies are located in the remotest locations that knowing where they all are is next to impossible.

Sort of. Science is about understanding our physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Some areas we understand well, in others areas out knowledge is still evolving. That we know how GPS works, for example, does not mean we should be questioning GPS.

The whole point of science is to carefully and objectively collect information (data) and then discuss potential interpretations of that data over decades. Now we are basing public policy on non-peer reviewed, hastily put-together pre-prints that nobody is supposed to question.

The 2014/15 research was performed at UNC. at Chapel Hill. Mr Baric, who was involved in that research, also worked subsequently with the Wuhan laboratory. See Nature-Medicine, December of 2015 to read the recently heavily edited publication.
