In rural Odisha, the Subernarekha Soheli Handicrafts Self-Help Group (SHG) is transforming lives of women.
Guided by master trainer Pramila Das, around 200-300 women are learning to craft with sabai grass and date palm leaves.
The training has enabled these women to earn a modest ₹1,000 to ₹3,000 each month, fostering financial independence. This income empowers them to support their families, manage their children's education, and fulfil personal needs.
This initiative under the Gender & Community programme aims to empower rural women by upskilling them for sustainable livelihoods through 70 SHGs. The initiative generated a remarkable ₹2,05,200 in FY 23-24.
These SHGs are not just teaching craftsmanship; they are nurturing self-reliance and transforming lives through skill development and community support.
Share their journey from dependence to self-reliance!
